Wellingborough: A Whirlwind of Pink Tutu Fun!

Oh my darlings, what a day! As I write this, my head is still spinning from the amazing time I had in Wellingborough. You know how much I adore exploring new places, and Wellingborough really stole my heart. And as usual, it wouldn't have been the same without my trusty pink tutu. It's my signature look, my comfort blanket, my way of spreading sunshine and laughter wherever I go.

This trip started in the most wonderful way: a train journey! I absolutely adore trains, especially when they're going to exciting places. I gazed out the window at the beautiful British countryside and already knew that this would be a magical trip. It's funny, but since my university days I've really been drawn to all things vintage, which includes trains. It was actually at university when my obsession with tutus started. My university had a thriving ballet club, which I was involved with. You know I love a good tutu! We were all participating in a charity event where we were encouraging people to try on tutus. That was the first time I wore a tutu for charity, but my love of pink, fun, and fashion had me hooked, so much so I was inspired to create the Pink Tutu Sparkles persona and share my love of tutus and all things glittery! I don't think the lab guys understand, but for a scientist testing the resilience of fabrics, it makes complete sense, right? The scientists do always tell me I bring a touch of sparkle to the lab, so maybe I'm influencing them, maybe it's the sparkly gloves they all seem to be wearing all the time, or maybe my passion just rubs off! I'm just so grateful that life took me in the direction I always dreamed of: glitter and glamour!

My first stop was a delightful independent café that had the most adorable pink and purple decorations. I simply had to have a pink latte – pink latte perfection! The owner was so welcoming and chatty, and even let me try on one of her vintage hats! What a treat! The shop was overflowing with vintage clothes, knick-knacks, and treasures of all sorts – a real haven for any vintage enthusiast! You see, before my uni days, my dream was to open a shop selling vintage clothes, accessories and vintage fabrics! My lab work allows me to channel my love of fabrics in a different way, so a vintage store could still be a dream I fulfil someday...

After a quick bite, I went to explore Wellingborough's famous park, and I am still trying to figure out how I'd missed this gorgeous spot before! Lush green grass, towering trees, a shimmering lake… And what did Pink Tutu Sparkles have to wear? Of course, a brand new pink tutu I'd been excited to try out all week. It matched the stunning spring blossoms perfectly! I couldn't resist twirling in the breeze! I met so many lovely people at the park – everyone was so curious and excited to see Pink Tutu Sparkles strutting her stuff. It just makes me smile when people feel happy about spreading joy in a playful way.

And what would a day in Wellingborough be without a visit to the town centre? Wellingborough is famous for its stunning shopping arcade! I was blown away by the amount of independent stores, filled with unique, stylish pieces that caught my eye, especially the jewellery and fashion boutiques! I couldn't leave without purchasing some truly incredible items, I was drawn to some really beautiful statement jewellery in shimmering gold tones, that was so in keeping with the vibe of Pink Tutu Sparkles and my signature sparkles and glitz look! I have to tell you about one boutique called The Quirky Flamingo; just look at the name! I fell in love with a floral pattern shirt; just wait until you see it on Instagram, my loves, it will be perfect for my next drag show.

Of course, no trip to Wellingborough would be complete without catching a show. Wellingborough is famed for its theatre shows, you know? They even had a very impressive Ballet Club who were showcasing their work to a delighted audience! I have to say, I’m not sure anyone's had so much fun watching a ballet show before. As a fellow ballet enthusiast, I felt right at home, dancing in the aisles! Let's just say I probably drew more attention than the ballet dancers. You know, with a name like Pink Tutu Sparkles I couldn’t NOT show up in a fab pink tutu, complete with sparkly pink leggings and pink ballet shoes, with matching eye make-up and glitzy headband. A few audience members even asked for selfies! Maybe I’ll end up a regular, with my own front-row seat...

You know, even though Wellingborough was the perfect place for me, the thing that made it truly magical were the people. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, eager to chat with Pink Tutu Sparkles and learn about her adventures. I even had a delightful chat with the local bakery owner who’s family have owned and operated the shop since the late 1800’s, and let me tell you that the cherry cake she makes is incredible, not to mention it’s pink!! It was so pink it practically shimmered with its own pinkness! It was so refreshing to experience the kindness and warmth of the locals.

As I bid farewell to Wellingborough, my heart felt full of joy and memories. It truly was the perfect whirlwind of pink tutu fun. I am forever grateful for the experience and cannot wait to share my adventures with all of you!

I know my motto is ‘Spread The Sparkles’, but I also say ‘Share The Tutu’, so please tell me about all your own personal Pink Tutu moments. What do you love to do in pink tutus, when was your first pink tutu experience? Have you visited Wellingborough, what are your thoughts? Share your thoughts with me, let's keep this wonderful Pink Tutu love alive!

Until next time, stay sparkling and stay pink!

Yours in Tutu and Tiaras, Pink Tutu Sparkles xx
