Nuneaton: A Pink Tutu Sparkles Adventure!

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-loving drag queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here, ready to whisk you away on another fabulous journey! Today's destination is the charming town of Nuneaton, and it’s blog post number 7292 for your favourite, glittery-loving, sparkly-eye-shadowing drag queen blogger!

I'm always up for a good old-fashioned train journey. Something about the gentle swaying and the chance to people-watch puts me in the mood for a sparkly adventure. This time, the destination was Nuneaton. A bit further afield than my usual Derby haunts, but my pink-tutu-loving heart is always ready to explore.

As you know, my life is a whirlwind of colour, sparkles and tulle. By day I’m a quiet science whiz (a chemist, if you will!) in the lab, studying fabrics and testing for durability, you know the usual... But as the sun sets, the sequins come out, and I transform into Pink Tutu Sparkles. The most fabulously fashionable drag queen that Nuneaton has ever seen!

This weekend I had a lovely commission, and who knows what crazy antics will unfold as I explore Nuneaton, looking fabulous in a pink tutu of course. I am in love with my bright bubble-gum pink sparkly tutu and matching feather boa and I’ve chosen a bright lipstick for a perfect contrast. It really is going to be fabulous and a beautiful, if a tad over the top, combination of pink!

What’s better than Nuneaton? A trip to Nuneaton for the ultimate Pink Tutu Sparkles drag experience. After an adventurous train journey through the English countryside, I arrived in the bustling market town of Nuneaton, a small but spirited town just south of the Leicestershire countryside. This was my first time performing here so I couldn’t wait to meet my adoring audience. This town is just brimming with pink-tutu potential and is steeped in history, but I’m going to inject some pink-tutu fabulousness into their cultural offerings!

My gig was a charity event - oh, darling, I love to perform at charity events, because it allows me to show my audiences that sparkle and glitz isn’t about selfishness, it’s about giving. You know my motto! “Share the pink tutu sparkle!”

And I am nothing if not consistent. I wore the brightest, boldest, most eye-catching pink tutu imaginable! Honestly, you could see my bright, pink sparkle from a mile away. Even on a chilly day like today it’s a joy to be surrounded by colour. But with this level of style, it is important to always make time for fashion and accessories, so of course I packed my most precious accessory for my Nuneaton visit… my pink glitter clutch bag! I would never travel anywhere without it.

I had booked into the local hotel – an imposing, beautifully constructed hotel, oozing with charm and character, in the very heart of Nuneaton, right across from the library - with its huge gothic windows and tall chimney, and perfectly pink interior to compliment my look – although this may just be my imagination! It felt more like I was in a Victorian era film set than in 21st century Nuneaton! But as always I’d booked the pink room – for that lovely colour coordinated feeling. Just the kind of treat to start any fun, glittery filled journey! I felt a buzz of excitement when I stepped into my lovely room and immediately, after throwing my pink-sequined tote bag on the floor (I was exhausted from my long, exciting journey to Nuneaton), grabbed the little sparkly compact I carry everywhere to freshen up and re-apply my glittery eyeshadow. I would not let a journey by train dim my sparkle!

My arrival was followed by a charming tour of the historic town. My hosts were so generous – they bought me afternoon tea and we shared so many laughs over perfectly sugared pastries. You wouldn't believe the adorable vintage teacups they brought for our afternoon tea! Tiny, beautifully detailed pink ones of course!

This time, I opted for a private afternoon tea treat at The Tea Room a quintessential English tea room. The owners are utter darlings, especially fond of all things pink (you see a theme here don’t you?). My afternoon tea was an explosion of delight - finger sandwiches filled with deliciously prepared creams and tomato and cress, and lots of scones and clotted cream and strawberry jam and, to finish it off, the most perfect, cute little cupcakes you could ever see - decked with pink frosting. The lovely hostesses made it so very special with a pink flower on my pink tutu.

I'm always up for some spontaneous entertainment. As a performer, I am naturally curious to watch a live show. On my trip to Nuneaton I saw an extraordinary street theatre performance on the local green – some really extraordinary artists all dressed up in beautiful, costumes - and, just like me, they knew the power of glitter! The show was brilliant, hilarious and a wonderful visual treat for everyone in Nuneaton, all those who couldn't make it to a London stage production this show gave them a feel of the theatrical.

Later that evening, I prepped for my dazzling performance. The event was buzzing with anticipation. I just adore getting dressed up - you wouldn't believe the fun I have trying on different dresses and sparkly pink accessories - every performance calls for a special outfit – a real drag artist's best friend.

As the lights dimmed, the crowd hushed, and the music surged through the venue, I felt the familiar surge of excitement. The dance floor was jam-packed! The stage lights hit my dazzling outfit, bathing the whole room in pink-tutu goodness! Oh, you could say the pink-tutu vibes were definitely in the air. It felt absolutely magical! As I danced and twirled, the room exploded in cheers, I could hear shouting from all corners of the dance floor - “Go on Pink Tutu Sparkles!” and "Get it Girl!” - They were so engrossed, they were watching me as if it were the greatest drag show of their lives. And as I bowed my finale, my whole body was bathed in sparkling pink, the audience erupted, a wall of cheering, a sea of applause! My heart was glowing! It was simply unbelievable, it was absolutely fabulous.

The energy in the room was intoxicating! I was on a high! And everyone looked just as fabulous! The smiles, the dancing, the laughter - a genuine, beautiful outpouring of love for fabulousness! You see, this is why I do what I do!

I just adore the little town of Nuneaton. A quirky and spirited town with big hearts. They were just so friendly, and truly welcoming, I must say! Everyone who saw my performances were just so generous, I felt overwhelmed by their love. They'd all bought me sweet treats to enjoy and they’d even donated money for my charity collection. It made my pink heart grow two sizes larger on the spot.

I don’t always like to reveal too much information about my secrets in this blog - you see I don’t want my life to be an open book! - but Nuneaton inspired me. The journey, the performance it was just the kind of beautiful, magical trip that has brought me new ideas, new inspiration - which will be reflected in my performances in the next couple of weeks. This is always my ambition, that my life will always have some magical journey. That my experiences and observations will lead to a transformation - transform the way people view pink tutus. And get more people wearing them all the time, of course, because that’s what the world needs, to be more pink, more sparkly! More magical. Don't you agree?

And it's not just the pink tutu vibe - I just adore travelling on horseback. Yes, this fabulous drag queen gets around on a beautiful, powerful steed. The feeling of wind in my hair and the rush of a powerful gallop - nothing gets the blood pumping quite like a horse! It's my little secret for feeling alive! And so of course, I have been searching for a new trusty steed. Well, a new pink tutu loving steed... I would never get on a brown horse! But it’s hard to find the right kind of animal. They need to be strong, patient and love pink. There just seems to be a lack of pink tutu love in the horse community!

It’s no surprise that people assume a scientist, someone working in a lab - like me! - would prefer to be on a computer, maybe reading the latest articles in The Chemist! That we wouldn’t want to venture outside of the world of labs. But I like to challenge the norm. Because I’m not like most scientists - they wear those uninspired white coats. It just all feels so uniform, so predictable, don’t you agree? I, Pink Tutu Sparkles want to spread a message of bright colours, pink and sparkle, and above all to have fun with life, even in a laboratory! In fact - because the laboratory world needs some spice! - I’ve begun introducing some bright, eye-catching colour to my laboratory wear. A little pink tutu fashion will do wonders, and who knows maybe it will change the world of chemistry, because chemistry can be fabulous!

I will let you know more about my quest for a new pink tutu-loving steed in another blog post soon. For now, it’s time to say goodnight, but until we meet again - “Spread the tutu sparkle love! And have a fabulous week! ” Don’t forget to check out my website www.pink-tutu.com for more tutu sparkles and Pink Tutu Sparkles blog posts! Ciao darlings!
