Hello, my darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another fabulous blog post, this time from the delightful town of Ilkeston! This is blog post number 7401, and I'm thrilled to share my latest adventures with you all. ✨
Let's get this show on the road, shall we?
As you all know, I'm a huge fan of the train - it's a truly magical way to travel, especially when you're all decked out in a pink tutu, which of course, I was! It was a delightful ride down from Derbyshire, passing through quaint villages and stunning countryside. It always puts me in a good mood and makes me feel so wonderfully free! It's like stepping out of time, don't you think? Especially as I doted on my copy of "Swan Lake" by Tchaikovsky all the way down! 🩰
I simply adore performing all over the country - it's such an adventure! My day job is a bit more… scientific, as you all know! By day I’m a textile chemist – and it’s quite a funny experience walking through a laboratory in my everyday clothes to testing a whole new batch of cotton after getting a big audience ovation at a nightclub in London the night before! It is surprising how the colour pink works its way through both areas of my life! Oh! And as much as I love London, it's nice to experience life a bit more locally too. It's a great opportunity to spread the tutu love!
The Ilkeston town square was vibrant and full of energy. It felt just right for a grand performance and everyone was incredibly warm and welcoming.
I made my grand entrance in my newest shimmering, sparkly pink tutu, complete with hand-sewn fairy lights. Oh, the crowd went wild! It felt like magic! I spun, twirled and did a grand jeté, and the applause echoed around the square. It's moments like these, darlings, that make all the hard work truly worthwhile.

Tutu Talk
Speaking of tutus, my beloved tutu-loving friends, did you know there’s actually an international “Tutu Tuesday” ? Every Tuesday is officially a time for the whole world to embrace the tutu in its many colours and designs! I must say that when I was choosing my costume for this gig, I almost picked my green-themed "frog prince" tutu. It's amazing how I am discovering there is a whole community of tutu lovers out there - there’s even an online community for lovers of tutus of all kinds and a yearly tutu exhibition! Who knew?
If you’re reading this in Ilkeston and you're looking to get your own tutu fix, the local library just held an exhibition of classical tutus for charity - so if you're interested in those, I bet there are some around.
But even though the tutus are fabulous, it’s the kind, friendly people of Ilkeston who stole my heart. I felt so much love and warmth, especially when after the performance, a young girl named Lily came up to me, her eyes sparkling with wonder. "Do you wear tutus all the time, like a real ballerina?” she asked. "Of course," I told her, "Every day is tutu day!" Her mom’s smile gave me an extra dose of warm fuzzy, and you could just feel the community around us – a group of people united by the sheer power of fun and silliness. It’s just what we all need these days! 🥰
After my performance, I had the most amazing time at the local bakery – "Sweet Treats". They have a delightful selection of treats, perfect for any tutu-loving diva, and trust me, the cakes are divine! They also sold adorable pink fairy cakes for my upcoming “fairy-tastic tea party” this Saturday – they'll make a cute picture on my Insta-story, if I'm allowed. I'm dreaming up new ways to add pink sparkle to this city already - how exciting!
The Ilkeston trip reminded me once again why I do what I do – to share a little joy, sprinkle a little sparkle, and, most importantly, spread the Tutu Love!
