Tottenham Sparkle: A Tutu-tastic Trip to the Big Smoke! (Post #7520)

Oh my darlings! I am practically bouncing with excitement because it’s time for another one of your beloved Pink-Tutu travel blogs! Today we’re in Tottenham and it’s going to be utterly fabulous.

Now, I’m sure you lovely lot will know that I’m an avid lover of the railways. There’s something just so romantic and magical about being whisked away to far flung corners on the steel tracks! So of course, the day started with a little ‘choo-choo’ adventure aboard the Great Northern Line, watching the beautiful green countryside roll past as the train snaked through the winding landscapes of the UK. You can see why I live for a bit of theatre… and a train carriage! 😂

Anyway, as soon as I stepped off the train in the grand old Tottenham Hale station I felt that London energy buzz around me, vibrant and pulsating!

Right, first things first! Londoners love a good old shopping spree! My very own ‘sparkly’ agenda for the day called for a pitstop at the beautiful Tottenham Hale Shopping Centre. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint! I was there to look for inspiration for a brand new outfit and my Tutu-licious mind is never far from thinking of how to take that pink fluffiness to a whole new level! Honestly darlings, the clothes and accessories on sale there would have tempted a saint! We all need some sparkle in our lives don’t we?! I certainly found a pair of sparkly silver pumps for my new show – let’s call them ‘The Tottenham Toes!

After a whirlwind spin around the shops and my purchases tucked securely in my fabulous pink handbag it was time for something rather more serious... food! I needed sustenance to get me through the rest of the day. Luckily my dear friend Dolly - who runs the fab ‘Dollies Cakes’ bakery - was happy to make a quick tutu-themed afternoon tea for me. You know I always like to keep my trips healthy! 😋

I was truly spoiled with a gorgeous selection of cakes and a pot of the most perfect tea – all topped off with that delicate, feminine touch I love so much.

Feeling truly refueled and bursting with Pink Tutu Power we then made our way to the amazing Alexandra Palace , it’s not every day you can pop up a fabulous pink tent at one of the most beautiful heritage sites in London! This evening I was the guest entertainer for 'Summer on the Green'. It's such a fun annual music and art festival! I mean honestly, what more could a girl ask for! I even met a fabulous young couple from Scotland who'd come all the way just to see me – how exciting was that!?

For my ‘Tottenham Sparkle’ show, I’d picked out one of my oldest tutus! It’s made of pale pink organza with a few silver stars strategically placed amongst the netting, to echo my 'Sparkly' persona, obviously. For the final flourish, I created a spectacular ensemble with an old pink ballgown (that’s another story for another time! 🤣), and paired it with my favourite pearl-encrusted gloves. You never want to look out of place in London, darling! So what better place for ‘Pink Tutu Sparkles’ to dazzle than 'Summer on the Green?' The audience was truly amazing – I was really blown away by how they connected with my *'Sparkle’ show. I was thrilled!

In the afternoon I had been treated to a beautiful and very stylish horse drawn carriage ride - one of those special touches I do love! They say that London can be pretty tough, so what better way to celebrate being a bit glamorous 'tutu'-esque then by arriving in a horse drawn carriage? Oh, I absolutely loved the atmosphere; all those grand old houses in North London - the architecture is just divine, truly a treat for the senses! That, and I had an enormous amount of fun seeing everyone on the street looking completely bemused at *'Pink Tutu Sparkles' * rocking up on her way to a gig! 😂

Speaking of rocking, that's exactly what ‘Pink Tutu Sparkles’ did during a fabulous performance at Tottenham Green Shopping Centre later that evening. I had a grand time! You really can’t beat performing to an audience under the clear London skies in the heart of such a fabulous part of the city!

In between the performances I squeezed in a cheeky trip to 'The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium'! * Yes darlings, you guessed it. This gorgeous stadium is a massive landmark on London's football scene, a haven for true fans of the beautiful game! It’s got everything, even a dedicated 'Pink Tutu Park'! They’ve built me a little *tutu palace just for me in a pretty pink corner where all the lovely ‘Sparkle’ followers - I call you ‘Tutu-lings’! – can gather! The team here at Spurs is truly ‘sparkleing ! They say they'll build me a giant pink tutu soon... so I will have the most iconic venue on the football circuit for *my performances in future! Now wouldn’t that be spectacular?

And if that’s not enough ’tutu-tastic’ stuff to tell you about - my day just had to get more fab!

So as the sun began to sink down over London’s famous skyline – it truly was a ‘Sparkle’ scene darling! – it was time to finish off my day with another extra special tutu moment... at 'The Theatre Royal Stratford East', that is.

London has so many amazing historic theatres and I always love going to the more traditional venues as they bring an added depth of ‘Sparkle’ to any performance. Tonight was my first visit to this charming little venue but it certainly won’t be my last, especially after the fantastic welcome they gave me! After watching ‘Twelfth Night’ (which you really should go and see - they did a tutu-licious performance!) and grabbing a glass of sparkling rose’ with the director (he loved Pink Tutu Sparkles), I then treated myself to a beautiful 'Pink Tutu Special' with my new friend, Ellie from 'The Sparkle Deli’ on Tottenham Green Road, She served up a scrumptious dinner with the ’sparkle’ of her unique blend of food from all across the world!

That evening I had one of my absolute ‘tutu’-ly favourite things in the world to finish off a perfect day…. yes I mean Ballet. The Royal Opera House’s performance of ‘Swan Lake’ really had my whole being doing ’pirouettes’ as I savoured every single magical moment of this timeless tale… (I just have to let my hair down once in a while – sparkling tutus or not it’s good to lose myself in art every now and then!). And I had to make sure I popped into the Covent Garden Market – my tutu has to go with the most beautiful of the London street markets darling! Oh the flowers, the 'sparkling' food - so much inspiration to add to the next collection, It's a wonder that I ‘Sparkle’ at all as I get lost in that colourful, intoxicating swirl of sounds and smells! A ‘Sparkle’ indeed, darling!

After that gorgeous ’Sparkle’ing show – I had to tell you, the ballet dancers did some absolutely incredible moves – it was truly the icing on the cake of a magnificent day in Tottenham! So if you want to take in a ballet show it truly is the most exquisite, graceful form of artistic entertainment. Don’t take my word for it – go check it out for yourself. 😉

All in all Tottenham gave ‘Pink Tutu Sparkles’ an absolutely sensational and unforgettable few days! It was packed full of all those fabulous sights, sounds, smells and memories that have earned it a place on my ‘London Dream-List’ - definitely on my must-return list! I absolutely cannot wait to see the beautiful sights of Tottenham again - a great city to ‘Sparkle’ in! You should pop by if you ever have the chance – but remember, always wear a tutu when you come. It’s practically the law. (🤣)

Now, off I trot! It’s time to say goodbye and head for my train, which is taking me on a little ‘Sparkle’ roadtrip to Edinburgh…. Next time it’ll be an epic Scottish tale – I hear there’s some rather lovely 'Pink Tutu' * adventures to be had up in the North… *wink-wink

Take care darlings, don’t forget your tutu and be ’sparkly’. See you ‘Sparkle’ soon !

                                                       XOXO,
