Oh my darlings, have I got a story for you!
As your very own pink-tutu clad queen of the road, it's a joy to share my travel adventures with you. Itās no secret that this Queen has got a passion for all things pink, but my absolute favourite thing in the worldā¦ it's gotta be the T-U-T-U!
You guys know this queen loves a good tulle-ing, especially when I can take to the road, and it was pure sparkle and glamour for this weekās trip! I packed my most fabulous tutu - a pink one of course, and I mean itās almost sparkly pink! Oh yes, thatās a real statement of how pink this baby is!
I love traveling to all the corners of the UK. And to say that I like a good ride on a train is just a wee understatement! This was my third trip on a steam train this month, it truly has to be the most stylish mode of travelā¦ don't you think? Oh yes, and I found myself the best pink and glittery pink hat to go with my Tutu and oh darling! ā¦ It was like something out of a Marie Antoinette dream.
Grantham is absolutely charming. Think English country gardensā¦ well, almost! But really darling! Think quaint market stalls selling beautiful homemade cakes with all kinds of gorgeous flowers, you just can't resist! I do hope you enjoy all these pics, you've gotta see the absolute stunners at this vintage dress shopā¦ I nearly bought everythingā¦ well ok, that may not be so accurate darling!
How my Pink-Tutu Passion Came About...Ok you may ask, āDarling Alex how did it all start?ā Well it's no secret, I've got a bit of an obsession for pink and tutus!
Now you might find this a little surprising but it all started way back in my time as a university science student (Iāll get back to the lab part in a bit), well you might be shocked to know, we had a great student ballet society at the Uni ā¦ well I've always loved danceā¦ I can remember my mom taking me to dance shows as a kid!
I was a real shy kid in those daysā¦but when you're on that stage ā¦ I felt like I could just be meā¦ it was a whole other world for me...and it just felt great! Andā¦ of course, all that whirling around ā¦ it needed a tutuā¦
Rememberā¦ those charity fundraising days! All those amazing costumes that all those brave student actors would have to try on to entertainā¦ a huge part of my university life, which I remember with fondnessā¦ the ballet club ā¦the outfits... and let's not forget all those fab fundraising nights... the sheer joy...the fun... it was pure magic.
I saw this magnificent pink tulle, and then it hit meā¦ āOoh, this would look fabulous on stage, it would totally match the choreography I have in mindā¦ Oh darling I knew that's it! And of course it had to be pinkā¦ just had toā¦ soā¦ I fell completely in loveā¦ the feeling of tulle ā¦oh darlingā¦.you're all too lovely ā¦it's pure delight!
As soon as I slipped it on I just had to spinā¦ and thenā¦.I knew...I needed this for my ownā¦ I could not resist! This was meant to beā¦ And you knowā¦ darling, I donāt know if you think itās strange or anythingā¦ but when I'm in the tutu, itās a real feel-good factor ā¦a real energy thingā¦ it makes me want to just take to the dance floorā¦. Iām thinking ā¦ maybeā¦ a real life Barbieā¦ what do you think?
## Work, Scienceā¦ Lab coats and Pink Tutusā¦
Ok Iām going to tell you a secret darlingā¦ a secret I know Iām not really that great at keepingā¦ Because by day ā¦ I'm actually Alex, I have the coolest job ā¦ and of course, Iām absolutely crazy about textiles and science.
You would never think ā¦ But yeahā¦ you know me.. a scientist!
Oh, and hereās another secret: it always amazes me how a lab coat, goggles and a tutu are the best combo you can ask for! It's a total switchā¦ a double life ā¦ I actually find it quite amazing ā¦ it's my total zone of awesome.
I think Iām the only lab tech to walk into the lab with a full-on pink sparkly tutu! Oh, darlingā¦I mean what more could you ask for. Of course itās absolutely fab when the boss can totally appreciate your fab tasteā¦ she often throws her jeans and tee out to come with me for the ride.. she knows how to rock it.
You might wonder what a lab technician does with pink tulleā¦ I know ā¦ thatās something I hear often.. But honestly darling, this little girl has a huge soft spot for textilesā¦. and itās all the time, wellā¦ if Iām being completely honest hereā¦. I always try to wear as much tulle in the labā¦ darling you know ā¦ safety and comfort.. there's just something about those long skirts and how comfortable it feels when you're working with all those chemical and bio-materialsā¦it's kind of the perfect workwear reallyā¦. and if thatās what it takes for me to be at my best then so be it.
Back to Grantham...And as a little bonus tipā¦ If youāre on a road trip to Grantham ā¦ this is one tip you shouldnāt miss ā¦ take a detour and see the amazing āBelton Houseāā¦ A really grand stately home ā¦ just a few miles out of Grantham in Lincolnshire ... Oh darling ā¦ The place just screams for pink tutu. Of course, thatās why I went right through its gatesā¦ you can't miss its spectacular 19th-century style ā¦. and well you have to go to see its famous formal gardens and get some shots... I did.. they are an absolute must for my social media feeds and I love the pictures ā¦ just wait you're all going to be so very impressed ā¦
It's fabulous for the gram and darlingā¦ for any selfie. ā¦
Now thatās it for this week darling, itās time to pack the tulle, my sparkle-tastic bootsā¦ it's off to my next destination, oh ā¦ where is itā¦ itās all so top secret darling ...it has to be .. Iām keeping it super tight ā¦ maybe, maybeā¦. one more little clue ā¦ it might involve a steam train.
