Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-touting queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and guess what? I'm back with another fabulous adventure! This time, I took my sequined self all the way up to North Shields! Now, I've travelled far and wide – from the glittering stages of London to the charming streets of Edinburgh – but North Shields was a whole new experience! It's got that seaside charm and rugged beauty, with its cobbled streets and windswept harbour, and it's definitely earned a permanent spot on my travel itinerary.
But of course, the real highlight of my trip wasn't the town itself (though, let's face it, North Shields is gorgeous!) No, the real reason for my trip was an invitation to perform at a fabulous local fundraiser for a children's charity! It's not every day you get to share the joy of sequins and smiles with little ones, so naturally, I jumped at the chance. Now, North Shields may be a world away from my usual city circuits, but trust me, these folks know how to throw a party! The energy was electric, and everyone was so welcoming, ready to celebrate for a great cause.
Let's talk outfits, shall we? I knew I had to bring my A-game to North Shields. I mean, I had a reputation to maintain! So, I went all out with a shimmering pink tutu that just wouldn't quit, paired with a feather boa that swished with every twirl. Let me tell you, those feathers were a whirlwind of excitement, adding a touch of sassy glamour to every dance move! To top it off, I even sported a pair of bright pink platforms that glittered with every step, because what's a good time without a bit of sparkle, am I right? And let's be honest, my pink look truly felt at home against the beautiful North Shields backdrop.
Before my performance, I had a bit of time to explore. Now, North Shields has a unique charm about it. You've got the classic fish and chips, the salty sea breeze, and the feeling of being a little off the beaten track – which is something I absolutely adore! I took a stroll along the harbour, admiring the quaint shops and cafes. And you wouldn’t believe it, I even found a little shop bursting with gorgeous tutus! It’s a wonder I wasn't immediately arrested for grand theft tutu, because my shopping instincts just kicked into overdrive. I ended up with a brand new tulle number that I simply couldn’t resist! And let's be real, I mean, it would be rude to leave North Shields without adding a new piece to my ever-growing collection, wouldn’t it?
Of course, no trip to North Shields is complete without a visit to the historic Tynemouth Priory. It’s truly stunning, with those magnificent ancient ruins gazing out at the sea. Standing on those hallowed grounds, I felt a sense of history that truly swept me away.
Back in the lab, my alter ego Alex (you might be surprised to know that she’s a proper scientist, testing the sturdiness of fabric for a living!) was dreaming of sequins and dancing. It’s funny, sometimes I think Alex enjoys watching me perform just as much as I do! I always try to be a good role model, to show folks that no matter your background or how many degrees you hold, you can chase your dreams and have fun. I may not be your typical scientist, but I’m still proving to everyone that you can embrace the science of life (and all its glittery wonders!) without taking yourself too seriously. Plus, who else can make testing fabric sound this exciting?!
But don't worry, I haven't completely abandoned my day job! I may be obsessed with tutus and performing, but there’s a side to me that appreciates the meticulous world of lab coats and beakers. It’s that contrast between the glitz and glam of drag and the quiet precision of science that makes me feel complete. I’m a woman (and a scientist!) of many faces, and each one contributes to my amazing journey.
Now, you might be wondering how this pink-tutu-obsessed scientist funds all of her travel and extravagant outfits. Well, you see, I do it the old-fashioned way – I’m a performer! Every performance, every event, is an opportunity to spread the love for tutus and glitter while raising funds for my next adventure. I believe that you can find magic and joy in any town, and it’s all about connecting with people, whether it’s on a glittering stage or a cozy pub in a quaint village.
So, if you ever see me on stage, do come say hello! You’ll probably spot me swirling in my signature pink tutu, spreading the love for life and encouraging everyone to embrace the whimsical. I believe that a little sparkle goes a long way. And remember, it’s never too late to find your inner sparkle. After all, we all have a little pink tutu waiting to be unleashed!
