Hello darlings! It's your Pink Tutu Sparkles, back from a whirlwind trip to Sutton in Ashfield! 💅💖 The train journey was a dream, especially in my new blush pink polka dot frock. (You'll be seeing lots of that one, believe me!) Anyway, I digress...
As a seasoned travel-savvy drag queen, I always like to get to know my destinations a little, so I was really excited to discover Sutton's connections to the coal industry, not to mention it being home to the iconic 'The Ridings' Shopping Centre - definitely a fashion queen's dream! 💖
It's always been a dream to take my Pink Tutu act on the road, you know, bring the fabulousness to the masses! Luckily, a fabulous local festival - which definitely had a "tutus and tiaras" vibe going on - snagged me for a performance slot, so I dusted off my sparkly feather boa and packed my most radiant pink tutu for the grand outing.
My trip kicked off with a visit to the National Tramway Museum, an absolute gem of a place, full of nostalgia. Let me tell you, vintage trams really know how to set the mood for a fabulous fashion adventure. (It was actually surprisingly chic. Who knew?!).
Fashion's A Chore, But Choreography's A Joy
Afterwards, I just had to go see a ballet performance in the town! I mean, Pink Tutu Sparkles always loves a bit of classical elegance! They had a stunning production of Swan Lake, which left me feeling truly inspired. It was pure grace and elegance personified, with dancers performing such incredible leaps and pirouettes, and all of it in such breathtaking costumes. I’m thinking a black swan costume next for a dramatic entry, or perhaps something swan-themed in pastel pink - I’m open to suggestions, darlings! 🦢💖
Oh, and my favourite bit? The fact that the town boasts a thriving ballet school right in its centre. You know I love sharing the love for all things tutu-licious! The energy in those classrooms was buzzing, full of passionate young dancers who dream of taking the stage.
It was the perfect moment to give out some little Pink Tutu Sparkles advice:
- "Darling, be bold!" Don't be afraid to take chances and try something new, especially in dance.
- "Think pink, act pink, feel pink!" Pink isn’t just a colour, it’s a way of life. Be bold, be fabulous and never, ever, ever let anyone tell you to wear any other colour! 😜
- “A good tutu is the cornerstone to any performance! It adds magic, adds joy and makes everything feel special!" (I'm talking real, handcrafted tutu here - not just some wispy, ill-fitting piece of net. Find your perfect tutu, darling.)
Now, my visit to Sutton in Ashfield wasn't all ballets and tutus, though, because my performance at the festival was a roaring success, leaving the crowds completely besotted with Pink Tutu Sparkles. 💃
I even took the stage wearing a brand new tutu – a majestic pink, frilly, feast for the eyes – all because I had a chance encounter with the most incredible haberdashery shop. Talk about a dream!
Dress Shop Adventures (And That Must-Have Tutu!)
I was lucky enough to discover a little vintage fashion haven right in the heart of town! Let me tell you, I had a proper pink explosion! 💖 There was an exquisite tutu waiting for me, all feather boas and sequins, hanging in the window. You know I simply had to snag it for myself. (What’s a drag queen without a decent wardrobe, eh?!) I must confess, it now holds pride of place in my ever growing collection, but you can see it in action next time I perform.
Now, don’t you want to hear all about that glorious show? It was a full-on drag extravaganza. My fellow drag queens and I danced the night away to the hottest disco tunes, all with a little extra sparkle thanks to the neon lights of the fairground. It was absolute mayhem. 🎉
