As you know, this is post number 7903 on www.pink-tutu.com, where the world of pink and pirouettes collide! Today, we're swapping the laboratory for the lovely seaside town of Fareham. It’s an exciting trip because… drumroll… we're headed to the annual Fareham Town Fair!
Fareham's calling my name. Honestly, I get a bit nervous about travel but not when it's in the name of spreading the joy of tutus and sparkle. My heart beats faster, though, at the thought of my first performance on a stage in this charming seaside town! It will be magical to share my love of pink tutus with the delightful residents of Fareham.
Fareham, Here I Come! A Fairy-Tale of Trains and Tutus
So, imagine it… Derbyshire’s own Pink Tutu Sparkles embarking on her next big adventure. What’s a fashionable tutu-loving drag queen to do? Catch a train! A lovely, pink-hued dress paired with my signature tutu (a majestic shade of bubblegum pink with a silver sequined border – just think "sweet dreams" and "a magical day out" and you’re pretty much there!), a few layers of shimmering pink lipstick, a dash of my secret shimmer blush (think fairies in the sunlight) – and my trusty suitcase packed full of more glittery ensembles – and we're off!
As usual, I had a delightful experience on the train journey, I met a lovely gentleman called Michael on the journey and we chatted about the finer points of tutu fabrication (He was delighted to know that a good, classic tutu can be made from layers and layers of sheer fabric, which allows it to twirl effortlessly, a bit like me!) Michael promised to introduce me to his mother and asked if I'd be up for performing in their village's Christmas fair. Now that sounds like fun!
Arriving in Fareham… What A Treat!
Oh my, I arrived in Fareham on the most lovely evening, all warm and rosy hues, and a light, refreshing breeze, the scent of freshly cut grass in the air, you just couldn't ask for a more lovely scene. I hopped off the train into a charming, colourful town square, buzzing with activity. There were people of all ages out and about, chatting, laughing and generally enjoying a relaxed, summery evening.
After finding a rather adorable and reasonably priced hotel (a rather pretty pink façade!), I quickly freshened up, changed into a lovely emerald green skirt and a matching camisole, popped on a light pink jacket – and decided on my fabulous fuchsia pink tutu, just to be sure everyone in town knew who’d arrived! I decided it was time for a spot of sightseeing before the main event!
From Shopping to Shows… Finding My Fairy-Tale Fun!
There’s nothing more enjoyable than getting to know a town by exploring its hidden gems! My first port of call? A lovely, traditional bakery where I sampled a delectable raspberry cake – oh, the flavour and the crumbly texture – delicious!
Of course, it's not a day in a charming seaside town without indulging in a little bit of retail therapy. Oh, the joy of clothes shopping! Fareham had some truly delightful boutiques tucked away in quaint cobblestone lanes, each overflowing with stylish and vibrant pieces. I couldn’t help myself, I picked up the most gorgeous floral printed jacket. The owner said she designed it herself and it was the perfect piece to complement a sparkly, tutu look!
The air was buzzing with a warm, friendly energy – a truly lovely place to be. The sea was just a short distance from the town, I took a lovely stroll and savoured the fresh sea air and breathtaking views, I was surrounded by the beauty of nature!
Back in the Pink… And Ready for a Fab Show!
Of course, my adventures weren't confined to shopping. After my little detour, I returned to my hotel for some rest before the main event. I quickly changed back into my beloved Pink Tutu Sparkle garb. (Of course, this involves a meticulously planned and rather fabulous sequence – glitter goes on before the final outfit!) It was then time to make my grand entrance at the annual Fareham Town Fair!
The atmosphere at the fair was electrifying! Music was playing, people were chatting, laughing, and enjoying the lovely atmosphere. I couldn't help but grin at the joy in everyone's faces. After all, we are at the "tutu" center of all things wonderful, right?!
It was so exhilarating. I joined the fair's parade, surrounded by smiling faces, twirling and sparkling – my tutu shimmering with joy – the perfect stage to spread my message of pink-tutu positivity.

And my performance at the Fair was a resounding success. As usual, I took the crowd on a journey with a combination of ballet steps, playful comedy routines, and infectious energy – a show stopping, full-blown celebration of all things pink and playful. It’s my favourite routine - it has all my signature touches: a dash of ballet, a generous dollop of sass, and enough sparkle to outshine the brightest star in the sky!
The applause was incredible, and the delighted expressions on everyone’s faces were absolutely wonderful. My message to the people of Fareham was simple and clear: embrace your inner sparkle.
I couldn’t leave without doing my duty as the "TutuQueen", sharing a few pink tutus with a lucky few of the delightful children who came to my show. They were all ecstatic (especially when they received a pink, fluffy, and totally adorable pink tutu)! They twirled around like miniature fairy princesses and giggled with delight – all in the name of my special mission – a touch of magic!
The town's mayor was absolutely delightful. We had such a fun chat! I can't reveal our exact conversation (we don't want to break the illusion of magic, now, do we?), but it involved tea and scones and his favourite shade of pink! We ended up having a bit of a dance off and the crowd was cheering for the winner, who shall remain unnamed!
Farewell, Fareham… Until We Meet Again!
Fareham – what a vibrant town! Filled with warmth, generosity and of course, my absolute favourite shade of pink – a perfect place to continue my pink tutu journey! The energy and excitement of the fair made this a memorable night to be sure. The people of Fareham truly embody a "lets embrace the joyful moments and twirl it up a bit!" spirit.
