Berlin Calling: Pink Tutu Sparkles Makes a Grand Entrance (Blog Post #8030)

Hello, darling dears! It’s Pink Tutu Sparkles here, your favourite fashion-forward drag queen extraordinaire, writing to you live from the glamorous capital of Germany, Berlin!

Today’s post is all about my adventures in this beautiful city, and trust me, it’s been an absolute whirl of a time!

Now, I’m not going to lie, getting here wasn’t as simple as throwing on my favourite pink tutu and hopping on the nearest horse. Sadly, no noble steeds were available for my grand European jaunt. However, I did manage to score a seat on the overnight sleeper train, complete with a personal bunk and enough room for my extra-large tulle baggage. Oh, and let's not forget my trusty, sequined, hot-pink suitcase (more on that later).

Upon arriving at the station, the first thing that struck me was the buzz! The energy of Berlin is palpable. There’s a youthful, vibrant vibe that feels electric. Even the pigeons seemed to be dressed in stylish grey feather boas (maybe they just got their wings done – what do you say, dears?)

First things first, I needed to find myself some tea (Yorkshire, of course!). Let's face it, after a night train ride, a hot cuppa is essential for even the most glamorous of travellers. So, I headed straight for a charming cafe called “Die Kleine Teekanne”. Think mismatched teacups, cosy corners and pastries that would make even a ballet dancer's waistline weep.

Fueled up with caffeine and a sugar rush, I set out to explore the city. My first stop was, naturally, the ballet studio, nestled just off the famed Unter den Linden. Imagine, dear readers, my excitement at stepping into a space steeped in history and elegance, with its polished floors and the soft aroma of freshly waxed wood. It’s hard to resist an impromptu twirl, even in a street-ready look – a custom pink tutu dress with a matching bow in my hair, paired with shimmering ballet flats and a statement fuchsia lipstick. Who could blame me for feeling utterly inspired?

The afternoon took us to a world of shopping heaven! As a huge fan of vintage clothing, I was smitten with the plethora of second-hand shops, all offering unique and quirky finds. I ended up with a glorious vintage sequinned jacket, a pair of stunning pink lace gloves (naturally!), and a beautiful art deco hat – perfect for my upcoming performances in this captivating city!

Dinner, as any self-respecting Pink Tutu Sparkles would say, had to be a delightful experience. After all, one doesn’t travel this far without savouring every delicious moment! We dined at “Mutter Fou’s”, a bohemian-chic restaurant with a bohemian-chic menu, and, oh, what a menu it was! Imagine smoked duck with glazed cherries, accompanied by the most delicate gnocchi imaginable. Followed, of course, by a selection of locally sourced cheeses – because every good meal ends with a cheesy finale.

Speaking of finale, darling dears, my performance at the grand Berlin Volksfest was just the icing on this fantastically-frosted cake. I graced the stage (after all, I was decked in that glorious sequined jacket) to a captivated audience who truly loved every glittery second of my set. The crowd was amazing - everyone seemed to embrace the magic and wonder of a fabulous pink tutu. Even a grumpy-looking security guard was humming along to "I’m So Excited" by The Pointer Sisters. That’s what Pink Tutu Sparkles does - spreads the love, the fun, the sheer joyous power of a pink tutu!

I can’t tell you, darling dears, how much I’m enjoying the vibrancy and beauty of Berlin. It’s a city that embraces everything – the bold, the daring, the wonderfully unique, just like my own dear Pink Tutu Sparkles! From the stunning architecture to the incredible people, Berlin is a melting pot of artistic talent, cultural influences and, naturally, fashion.

What has made this trip so amazing? The answer, dears, lies in the essence of the city, in the kindness of the locals and the truly uplifting spirit that fills its cobbled streets. Berlin has given me a renewed sense of joy and inspiration. And that, dears, is why I will definitely be making my return to this wonderful city!

Stay fabulous, my dear friends, and keep those tutus ready for all your own grand adventures. Remember, "Life is too short to wear boring clothes" (and especially too short not to wear pink!).

Yours truly,

Pink Tutu Sparkles,

xx

P.S Stay tuned for my next blog post – a sneak peek into my adventures at the iconic Berlin State Ballet. It's going to be truly glamorous! And let's just say it will definitely involve pink! 😉
