Darling! Buckle up your pink pumps and grab your finest feather boas, because Pink Tutu Sparkles is taking Maidstone by storm! After a whirlwind journey across the county, I found myself hopping off the train with a twinkle in my eye and a whole lot of glitter in my bag. It's just me and my trusty sidekick, Mr. Sparkle the Pink Tutu (because one can never have too many, right?), ready to inject some sparkle into this gorgeous part of Kent!
As usual, I've packed a suitcase full of fabulous frocks, enough glitter to make a disco ball blush, and a pair of pink stilettos that could make a horse blush (no judging!). It's amazing how much can fit in a carry-on case ā my life is practically a packing puzzle, especially when you're dealing with tulle as glorious as Mr. Sparkle.
But this trip isn't just about the glitter and glamour, darlings! I'm on a mission! Remember, it's all about spreading the message: Pink tutus for everyone! This town has a special place in my heart, especially when it comes to embracing the theatrical arts. I hear Maidstone has a thriving theatre scene, so you can bet Iāll be dipping my pink tutu toes into that magic! And wouldnāt you know it, the famous Hazlitt Theatre has a lovely performance scheduled for this very weekend. Letās just say, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure without a little bit of dance!
So, darling, where to start? The journey always starts with a bit of indulgence! My friend, a fabulous stylist who knows my love of vintage treasures, tipped me off about a boutique in Maidstone, tucked away on a street known for its antique delights. My favourite colour was out in full force, and of course I added a few new accessories to my pink arsenal. Itās true what they say: life is too short for a boring wardrobe, especially when it comes to tutus!
Next, itās on to exploring! Maidstone is an absolute darling with its cobbled streets, historic buildings, and of course, its very own pink-worthy pink palace! Imagine, a palace! Pink, no less! I canāt even tell you the excitement that fills my heart as I picture this gorgeous abode ā I mean, youāll forgive my childish glee, wouldnāt you? And, for a science-obsessed queen like myself, it just wouldnāt be a visit without exploring Maidstoneās fascinating history, particularly their connection to the hop industry. What a fantastic link to our shared love of bubbly! (Get it, āhopsā like in the brew?!). You can count on me making a few glamorous, glittery homages to this exciting link, wouldnāt you?
Pink Tutu Sparkle's Travels by Train & Horse
Now, I know what youāre thinking: pink tutus and travelling by train, a bit of a tricky feat. But don't you worry, darlings! I have this perfectly adorable suitcase that transforms into a mini wardrobe on wheels. My travelling life is full of tricks and tips for getting Mr. Sparkle in and out of the suitcase smoothly. Letās just say, Iām practically a pro by now! The journey itself was such a treat, passing by rolling fields and charming villages. The English countryside truly looks like a picture, and whatās better than admiring those lovely landscapes through the windows while dreaming about all the fabulousness this weekend has to offer?
Of course, what's a true Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure without a dash of whimsy? I am a big fan of horses. As I travelled towards Maidstone, I found myself making my way through an area well known for its equestrian tradition. Who wouldnāt fall in love with the rolling green meadows, the beautiful animals and those handsome horse and carts? Well, it was no surprise to me that this area truly captured my fancy. I even had a chance to ride with a local trainer, a real cowboy! This gentlemanās boots were far more robust than my pink sparkly heels, let me tell you. However, this journey did fuel a creative idea that will be debuting in one of my next shows. Keep your eye out, darlings, youāll be the first to know.
Speaking of upcoming events, I simply must share! This upcoming weekend, I will be joining forces with local drag legends to perform at the beautiful, historic Maidstone Town Hall. Oh, you havenāt seen this yet! The grandeur! The style! My dear, just a touch of glitter and this town hall would make the perfect home for a glamorous ball. The entire affair is an absolute treat ā it's all about promoting arts in the community. With all this pink tulle swirling around, itās just going to be spectacular. I've been busy putting together a special Pink Tutu routine - a high-energy mix of classical ballet and contemporary, with just a touch of theatrical flair, and just the right amount of shimmering, pink glory, of course. Before I close, you know I must share a little bit about the world I inhabit in the daylight. After all, those tutus don't magically appear out of thin air, do they? When I'm not rocking out in a pink tutu, I'm donning my lab coat and becoming a scientific expert on the world of fabrics. Now, you may think āboring!ā But let me tell you, nothing could be further from the truth. Thereās always a great adventure to be had in a laboratory, and when you work with fabrics you get to witness a truly amazing world of colors, textures, and designs. The fabric testing business is surprisingly glamorous in a unique way, but thatās a story for another blog post.
But you can bet, with my expert scientific eye I've been busy picking the best fabrics for my latest costumes. Just wait till you see the latest ensemble ā trust me, the fabrics are something special! The craftsmanship behind every costume, the layers of tulle and chiffon, it's absolutely spectacular. Just ask my lovely seamstress, she could create an entirely new planet out of those scraps. I must say, I take inspiration for my routines from everywhere, including my work in the lab. You'll never know when science and sparkle collide, especially when the goal is a truly remarkable stage show!
