Feltham Calling! A Pink Tutu Adventure in the Home Counties (Post #8619)
Hello my darling dears! It’s Pink Tutu Sparkles here, your favourite tutu-tastic traveller, and today I’m whizzing off on a pink-tinted journey to the lovely town of Feltham. Oh, darling, you wouldn’t believe the whirlwind of tulle, tinsel and trains that led me to this delightful destination!
Firstly, I have to confess: I'm rather smitten with this new fascination I have with British towns. It started with my love of ballet, which lead me to all the theatres, but I also started attending a charming ballet class in the little village of Draycott in the Derbyshire Dales. And that, darling, is how my "tutu travelogue" was born! I thought, "if a tutu is good enough for the Royal Opera House, it’s certainly good enough for a village hall!" And with that, I hopped aboard the Derbyshire Dales Railway (in my best, and oh so pink, travelling tutu!) and my little tutu odyssey began! And, my darlings, I must confess... the trains were absolutely glorious!. It really brings a whole new level of fun and glam to your travelling adventure. The carriage windows even gave my pink tulle the most glorious pink light shimmer, you'd have sworn I was surrounded by clouds of candy floss.
Feltham called out to me! It promised sequins, theatre and perhaps, just perhaps a tea shop or two that sold pink cake! And now, here I am. There’s a certain charming quirky magic about travelling to unknown destinations that really takes you on an adventure - the kind of journey that only a pink tutu can enhance! You never know what sparkling surprise you'll find along the way! And in Feltham, my dears, the surprise was the Feltham Little Theatre! It is absolutely exquisite. It’s the kind of venue that truly deserves a big, glitzy production - the kind of production that makes even me (with my overwhelming love of all things pink and fluffy) want to wear my fanciest feather boa! So of course, my tutu was ready and waiting - I always travel with my "Sparkle Travel Suitcase" – which features a glitter-lined compartment, especially for my most elaborate tutu pieces, as well as several pink velvet drawstring pouches for my essential pink lipstick and eyeshadow. You can never be too prepared for a sparkly occasion.
The audience in Feltham was fabulous, so welcoming, with the kind of charm that makes you think the entire town could be populated by a bunch of glitter-loving angels! They loved the show. There’s a beautiful thing about a really good performance, the way it unites people. The magic that radiates through the stage is like nothing else – it's that moment when everyone is laughing and applauding, all wearing a shared smile.
In between performances, I even took time out to have a spot of afternoon tea at The Rose and Crown. It was so delicious, especially the pink Victoria sponge cake! And the teapot! It looked so fancy, all with rose gold and delicate pastel designs – it could only be topped by a pink tutu, don’t you think?!
So my dear friends, you may find it odd that a girl like me (I mean, with a pink tutu addiction!) also has an analytical mind. I mean, don’t I just look like your typical “tutu girl” - the one who only ever thinks of fairy lights, fluffy boas and sequins? Well, believe it or not, by day I’m Alex, a scientist in a fabric lab! My lab isn't too far away from Derbyshire, which means I often head out in the evenings, tutu-fied and ready to share some joy! And I tell you, working in a lab makes you realise how many similarities there are between fabric testing and theatrical performance. It's all about quality control, presentation and achieving the desired look ! For me, my pink tutu represents the best quality, the prettiest presentation, and, well, it looks pretty fantastic!
But I digress... the Feltham trip was truly magical! I’ve added Feltham to my list of places to return to! It was a true tutu treat, a wonderful adventure with pink, sparkles, laughter and lovely, lovely people. And guess what my darling dears?! I think my love affair with the home counties is just beginning !
Now, I am back at home, my tutu suitcase is open on the bed – its pink velvet lining glowing in the last of the sunlight! The Feltham adventure is all I could have asked for. The town was wonderful! And, I just can’t help but feel that if you embrace life with a little pink, a little tutu, a lot of glitter and always a sparkly smile, it really is all a stage ! And as for that promise to get everyone to wear a pink tutu? I can't wait for my next tutu journey, my dear dears, because Pink Tutu Sparkles never stops sparkling!
And on that bright note, I will see you all on www.pink-tutu.com!
Until next time, my darlings!

P.S. I forgot to mention... My dear, while in Feltham I was honoured to be asked to sign my autographs. And guess what? I noticed that nearly everyone wanted their picture taken with me. It seems like everyone loved the sparkly tulle and sequins – I was even asked for a copy of my ‘how-to-make-the-perfect-pink-tutu’ guide, which I will share with you all soon! You’re welcome, my darling dears!
