Broadstairs: A Seaside Soiree in Pink!

Hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-loving, sparkle-obsessed drag queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and it's time for Blog Post number 8772! This time, I'm bringing you seaside sunshine and fabulous frocks, as I sashayed my way to the beautiful seaside town of Broadstairs, Kent.

I'll be honest, folks, I love a good train journey. There's something so magical about watching the world rush past you while sipping on a nice hot cuppa and maybe even enjoying a delicious slice of Victoria sponge cake. It's a chance to daydream and plan all the fabulous things that are waiting for me at my destination.

Broadstairs was the perfect getaway. A quintessentially English seaside town, with colourful beach huts lining the sandy shore, candy-coloured shops bursting with souvenirs and fresh seaside air blowing through my pink tulle!

My trusty pink tutu – yes, this time I went for my “Starlight Sonata” model, adorned with cascading pink sequins and shimmering rhinestones – was a true showstopper. It was the perfect blend of whimsy and glam, twirling majestically in the sea breeze. I knew that Broadstairs, with its vintage seaside charm, was the perfect setting for its debut!

Now, I wouldn't be Pink Tutu Sparkles if I didn't stop by some gorgeous local boutiques to find the perfect outfits for my seaside adventures. My inner shopaholic was delighted with the vintage finds and local designer pieces that filled the charming shops of Broadstairs.

First, I had to find the perfect seaside outfit – you can’t go to the seaside without a little nautical inspiration, darling! I found a charming little boutique nestled on the side of a narrow cobbled street called “Sea Shells & Sequins”. You wouldn’t believe the treasure trove of clothes I found – there were vintage seaside prints, striped tops in all shades of blue, nautical-themed handbags with shells and coral accents – and of course, some fantastic tulle to complete my seaside look. It’s all about matching my outfit to the location, darling.

I chose a delightful white sundress adorned with navy and red trim – it looked fantastic with my “Starlight Sonata” tutu. I paired it with a matching sailor-style hat with a large navy blue bow and some bright white canvas shoes for a touch of seaside chic.

Of course, I needed a little bling for the beach. I went into a fabulous little jewelry shop called "Ocean Gems" and discovered a truly stunning necklace of pink pearls, the perfect addition to my already sparkling outfit!

But a pink-loving princess can't simply spend all her time shopping, can she? I had to enjoy the town’s delights! And what’s a better seaside experience than strolling along the beautiful beach, feeling the soft sand beneath your toes and the invigorating sea breeze against your face? Broadstairs had some beautiful views!

The day after I arrived, I even ventured to a local seaside fair where they had a vintage carousel with brightly painted horses, which I rode for a magical journey in a beautifully preserved carriage! The air was filled with the enchanting melodies of a carousel organ and the excited shouts of delighted children – a perfect little moment of carefree bliss. I even convinced a couple of children to join me in wearing tutus - the future of the world looks fabulous!

Then I was in a very elegant theatre show with a beautiful and inspiring ballet. A troupe of local ballet dancers performing a wonderfully staged story with the theme of the seaside – and guess what – guess who appeared as a special guest to wow the crowd?! That’s right! Your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles graced the stage!

In a spectacular burst of pink tulle and shimmering sequins, I took the stage with a quick change of clothes from my dazzling pink beach look, performing a vibrant and exhilarating number. Think graceful leaps, graceful spins and stunningly stylish moves to a joyous soundtrack - and the audience absolutely loved it.

The whole town had gathered to celebrate their town's heritage with a ballet and drag spectacle – it was truly something magical to see a community united in a beautiful celebration of artistic expression. It reminded me that it doesn't matter where you are, a little pink tulle and a whole lot of sparkle can turn any occasion into a spectacular event.

In Broadstairs, my sparkly spirit found kindred spirits - warm and welcoming, and full of creativity. And who knew a little town in Kent could become such a hotbed of creative expression?! My Broadstairs experience made me realise how wonderful it is to experience new places, embrace the unique charm of every town, and always spread my pink tutu love – a message that's universal, embracing beauty, joy and acceptance.

And as I made my way back to Derbyshire, back to the lab to analyse the latest fabric sample, I was already planning my next trip.
