Hello darlings! It's your favourite Pink Tutu Queen, back with another fabulous post from my whirlwind travels! This week, I found myself shimmying and shimmering in the historic city of Salisbury, a town brimming with charm and beauty, just like me! ?
This little trip was a bit of a spontaneous adventure. A call from the Salisbury Town Hall came through asking for a drag queen with a touch of sparkle to brighten up their local fair. Now, I am never one to refuse a good time (especially when it involves pink tutus!), so I packed my most vibrant tulle and boarded a train bound for the picturesque South West.
The train journey, my dears, was a true delight. The rolling green countryside whizzed by the window, and I sat back in my seat, a vision of pink perfection, planning my grand entrance for the fair.
I opted for a majestic, fluffy, bubblegum-pink tutu, the kind that would make any little girl gasp with delight and every grown woman secretly crave a twirl in. A shimmering, candy-pink bodice with sequins that winked under the train carriage lights, and of course, a statement pink wig, all strategically paired with pink ballet pumps that clicked cheerfully on the train floor. I must confess, I even snuck in a little twirl or two, catching a few curious glances and, I swear, the faintest hint of a smile from the stern-looking ticket inspector.
Salisbury was everything I had dreamed it would be. Cobblestone streets lined with quaint shops bursting with handmade treasures and little cafes offering delicious pastries, just my style! I did, of course, make a pit stop at the Salisbury Cathedral, that iconic spire piercing the clouds. It was like something out of a fairytale, a grand statement of history and majesty, but somehow perfectly matched by my flamboyant, yet very much in-the-moment style! ?
Now, the fair was a symphony of fun! Kids with faces smeared with cotton candy, carnies shouting, laughter echoing in the evening air. And there I was, dazzling everyone with a routine that brought tears of joy to the little ones and a little shimmy to the older folks! My energy was contagious, my twirls spectacular, and the glitter I threw into the crowd sparkled brighter than the evening stars.
After the show, the townsfolk were just as charming as the architecture. One delightful lady, a retired ballet dancer herself, even approached me to say she had never seen such a beautiful pink tutu! She regaled me with stories of her youth in the theatre, her face glowing with passion and nostalgia. And we shared a few secret tips about achieving the perfect "ballet jump" - oh, the memories!
My travels, dears, are about more than just showcasing dazzling pink tutus, it's about connecting, inspiring, and spreading a little sparkle in every corner of the world. This week, I left Salisbury a little bit heartbroken (having to say goodbye to those magnificent stone archways and my new fan club!), but overflowing with gratitude for the memories and the amazing souls I encountered along the way.
The next stop for the Pink Tutu Queen, my dears, remains a little mystery. Will I be scaling the heights of a Scottish Highlands crag on a spirited steed? Will I be gracing the cobbled streets of a bustling Parisian marketplace? Or perhaps, a thrilling ride through the London Underground, shimmering amidst the rush hour crowds?
You will just have to stay tuned, my darlings, for the Pink Tutu Queen never fails to deliver the dazzlingly unexpected! ✨
Until next time, keep those pink tutus ready to twirl!
Xoxo,
