Hiya darlings! Your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles is back, and this time I’m taking you with me on my first trip ever to the East Coast! You’re going to love it!
You know me, always looking for a new adventure!
My lovely readers know that for me a trip by train is the very best way to travel, and when it involves my new fabulous outfit in pink with that splash of orange I felt extra fancy! You’ll love what I chose! Pink and orange always go so well together - it's such a perfect combination, just like my latest outfit. You just haven't lived until you've worn an orange sparkly boa and pink glitter heels in the train! Oh, I've received some fabulous looks from the passengers at Grantham Station! People must wonder, who’s this pink-tutu-wearing crazy, glittering, smiling creature!?
Anyway! I just have to show you a little about how I chose my perfect outfit, because, you know, Pink Tutu Sparkles must ALWAYS sparkle!
I love tutus so much, that choosing which one to take for my trip is a serious matter. But I really needed to add something else! Spalding was calling, I knew this time I had to take a risk! I just needed to have that 'wow' factor! I had been dreaming of combining pink with something else!
So first I got out all my pink tutu's – and believe me, dear reader, I have a collection! There's the big pink fluffy one I always call "Birthday" which is perfect for theatre shows - oh those were such glorious nights and there were so many happy times and new experiences on stage! The fluffy one isn't right for travel, it is a little big and difficult to fold properly and you need a massive bag for it! There is also the mini one I call "Everyday" which I can use to do a full-on dramatic performance while wearing the most sparkly high heels and bright yellow wig, and you just can’t stop admiring me – I really get some amazing applause with that outfit. And finally I always carry the sparkly one called "Twinkle".
My 'Twinkle' tutu is amazing and would do just the trick, but it wouldn't go with my orange, glittery boa, so I went with ‘Dreamboat’ from the collection and the matching ‘Sparkly’ gloves – the only pink-sparkly gloves you’ve ever seen, right? Everything needs a touch of sparkly to be truly perfect, right? I am a big fan of dressing up, my mum always says, “Pink Tutu, you’re never underdressed! You need that sparkly factor”. She’s so right, you know. My mum's been supportive throughout my whole drag career, that’s what my mums are for, and this wouldn't have been possible without her. I still love that big bouncy 'Birthday' pink tutu for performances, but as I say it would just be impossible to travel in!
So let’s just say it took a lot of deliberation and two hours in the shop, but I finally made up my mind. Yes, it did have a lot of lovely, pink fluffy sparkle in it, and, you know I couldn’t leave home without it! The ‘Dreamboat’ tutu is an absolute stunner for travel – it's pink, with feathers, and has just enough sparkly fabric in the mix to really grab attention. As I've just said, it looks fabulous with the 'Sparkly' pink gloves and those lovely big glitter heels that came from the boot sale – bargains are the best! And, to make the 'look' truly amazing, I needed a pink and orange combination. So I put my new orange boa, that was just calling me from the market in town, around my neck. The combination was sensational! Oh, my darling readers, how I just loved how so many people looked back at me as I stepped onto that platform! My fabulous orange boa just danced about as I walked – just perfect!
Before you ask me where I got all my goodies I have a super special tip: I am the very, very lucky Pink Tutu Sparkles owner of a gorgeous collection of pre-loved clothing, sparkly shoes, and feather boas that my friend and ex-drag queen “Big Bopper Bess” gave to me a few years ago – it always comes in useful. Her taste was exquisite! There’s really nothing quite like it! She just knew I would appreciate it and I do – all the time!
Spalding was the main event of this particular trip – I have to say, it's an incredible town with beautiful places and, oh those shops, dear readers! You can’t walk around there without feeling that spark. I spent two wonderful days wandering around – and found all sorts of amazing clothes for my performances! Did I mention my obsession with shopping for pink?
My journey really did start in Grantham Station! You might ask, “But why Grantham Station”? Well it’s always exciting, but particularly for a drag artist in a full pink tutu! I can’t wait for my next journey - the people there just do have something different in the way they look at you. I guess that makes sense, because the whole town feels very different.
From the very first moment I arrived, I really enjoyed every second. I have to say that the whole journey felt amazing – even that lovely lady sat on the next carriage on the train was fascinated. The other passengers were just so polite – “Ooh you look stunning!” a young chap said when I got on the train at Spalding station. I always try and help spread a little happiness by sharing my smiles and positive vibes everywhere.
The shops are fabulous - it really is so much fun in Spalding, there’s something special for every style. The first stop was the local market – fantastic clothes – I always say that it’s the perfect way to find a sparkly skirt that’ll make every outfit stand out from the crowd. And I don’t think I need to mention the gorgeous pink fluffy socks! The ones I’m planning on buying! What’s better than pink fluffy socks? Not much, honestly! The best shops are full of interesting finds - I had the best time wandering round Spalding. Of course, I’d love to stay there forever – maybe buy that cottage that has a pink roof!
Ballet Dreams
My travels have been all about pink tutus and finding my next stunning look for my fabulous drag career. This was just one trip on the fabulous 'East Coast Express' – I really want to get around the East coast and beyond, spreading positive pink tutus everywhere.
Did I mention that Spalding was all about ballet dreams coming true? Every day we should try to follow our ballet dreams, it makes us all happy, don't you think? So I made a little detour!
It just so happens that the Royal Opera House in Nottingham is amazing – so I took a long drive from Spalding to visit. The place has a wonderful energy, oh my gosh! I can really see myself dancing with that tutu in a new exciting show. You might say I am crazy but ballet just does give me so much happiness. For me the world really needs a pink tutu on every stage!
While there, I did the tour around the Royal Opera House in Nottingham - they told me about all the interesting work they do! They also shared some tips, including the 'stage door secrets’ which is such great advice to get if you're just starting your journey in performing. The opera house people made sure that everyone on the tour had a wonderful experience and gave them a chance to ‘see behind the curtain’ - which really means a lot. I always have the time to stop and smell the roses.
It really was quite the magical trip to the ballet! Spalding’s a little out of the way but so worth the visit. This part of the East Coast really is the most lovely, with places of interest at every corner - I even went to a few markets, found amazing places that you don’t normally see – places that really have that ‘secret hidden garden’ vibe and just beg to be explored.
So if you are lucky enough to be reading this you will know that this Pink Tutu Sparkles trip was just wonderful – all those fantastic people and that fabulous town of Spalding, I can't wait to visit again.
Pink Tutu and Fashion in a New Town
And before we leave… I have some amazing ideas that I hope to develop – my fabulous wardrobe would look perfect at all these shows and performances which means my life would completely turn pink! You might say I’m obsessed and that I love to have the chance to get those smiles out on every single face!
Oh dear readers, that reminds me, I really want to ask you something, it’s about pink and our wardrobes, so let’s get this Pink Tutu fashion journey on its way, shall we? Remember that I want everyone to wear a pink tutu! My mission – I’m determined to get everybody wearing pink. That pink fluffy dream – everybody can have fun with pink – that’s just my view! Pink’s not just for girls and boys; it’s for everybody who wants to wear it!
So do you think that my Pink Tutu Sparkles style would be something you would wear, or perhaps you have a fabulous pink outfit for all occasions and I really should have a look at it? That is really the best way you can help Pink Tutu Sparkles spread her love of the pink – because every pink item in the world needs to be showcased - all for the best good – Pink is an attitude!
