Today, the glorious sunshine is beaming down on Hammersmith, casting a golden glow on all the delicious ice creams and the even more delicious tutus gracing our streets. But it’s not just about the sunshine, darling. Today is a day dedicated to all things glittery, glamorous, and definitely tutu-licious! 🩰💖
Oh, the magic of tutus! These glorious, voluminous garments have captivated me since I first clumsily attempted a pirouette at the tender age of five. The way they swirl and twirl, capturing the sunlight and reflecting it like a thousand tiny prisms, truly takes my breath away! ✨
And let’s be honest, dear readers, there’s no such thing as “too much tutu” – unless, of course, we’re talking about the tragic fate of one unfortunate squirrel who, rumour has it, became hopelessly entangled in a discarded tutu on the bus this morning. Poor thing! Thankfully, it seems he managed to free himself after a close call with the number 28 bus, though he’s probably left with a bit of a ‘tutued’ up tail. 🐿️
Anyway, enough of that morbid tale. Let's get back to our fabulous fashion.
The scene at Hammersmith is all about colour today. We’ve got the classic black tutu – elegant, sleek, and effortlessly stylish. You simply cannot go wrong with a black tutu! There are a few brave souls rocking pink tutus – bold and vibrant, perfect for that playful summer mood! And a handful of trendsetters even embraced the multi-coloured tutu – a dazzling kaleidoscope of colours, just bursting with energy and cheer!
However, the absolute highlight of my day? Spotting the glorious unicorn tutu! Imagine, if you will, a tutu as white as the most perfect fluffy cloud, delicately trimmed with silver sequins, and then… bam! The crowning glory – a unicorn horn crafted from shimmering gold fabric, perched proudly on the very top. It’s absolutely breathtaking! It made me wonder – what is it about unicorns that we’re all so drawn to? Could it be the mystical aura, the boundless joy, the sheer ethereal beauty? 🦄
Honestly, when I saw it, I couldn’t resist! A quick chat with the owner, a fabulous hairdresser called Laura with the most enviable, candy floss-pink locks, revealed the backstory:
"I saw a unicorn statue in the park last week," Laura gushed, "and I just had to capture its essence. The perfect look, the unicorn horn, a burst of vibrant rainbow hues… it's like a dream come true!"
Laura then treated us all to a disco-fuelled routine, swirling and twirling, a blur of pink and unicorn magic against the backdrop of Hammersmith’s bustling streets. She’s living proof that tutudays are about having fun and expressing your individuality! 💖🎶
The best part of it all? We weren't the only ones embracing the tutu madness. Every other person you saw walking down the street seemed to have caught the #tututuesday bug! Children twirling with glee, groups of friends in coordinating tutu outfits, even a dog dressed up as a miniature unicorn! (Don't get me started on those doggy tutus! Adorable overload!). And who could resist the charm of the ice cream cart, with a rainbow tutu strategically draped over the ice cream container? I definitely couldn’t. It was a delicious blend of creamy sweetness and sartorial fabulousness!
For those of you thinking of giving a tutu Tuesday a try, I've got some insider tips. First, invest in a great pair of heels – a platform or a stiletto heel adds extra oomph to any tutu ensemble! Second, be bold with colour! Experiment, let your inner fabulous self shine. And finally, embrace the attitude. There’s a certain je ne sais quoi that comes with rocking a tutu. It’s confidence, it’s whimsy, it's pure joy – embrace it!
