Bournville, a Haven for Tutu Tuesday and the Disco Snail

Hello my fellow fashionistas! It’s your girl, Elara, coming at you live from the heart of Bournville, where the air is thick with the sweet aroma of chocolate and the streets are paved with a vibrant pink… okay, maybe not literally, but I’m definitely channeling the pastel paradise vibes today, especially with the launch of our #tututuesday community. Let me tell you, Bournville is not just a chocolate haven, it's also a secret oasis for tutu enthusiasts. Who knew, right? I know what you’re thinking – a tutu in Bournville? Seriously? But trust me, it’s more than a whimsical thought. The community here is welcoming, quirky and… well, let’s just say there’s a healthy appreciation for a good old-fashioned tutu twirl! I mean, let’s be honest, when was the last time you saw someone rock a full-length tutu while simultaneously enjoying a Cadbury's Creme Egg? In Bournville, it’s practically a daily occurrence. But today was something special – a day dedicated to celebrating the classic ballerina silhouette in all its glory.

From Ballet Classics to Street Style: Tutus Unleashed This is the essence of Tutu Tuesday in Bournville: a day to showcase the incredible versatility of this iconic garment, from classic romantic tutu to edgy, modern streetwear pieces. We’re talking fluffy tulle, layered silk, bold colours, playful embellishments – it was like a mini-fashion extravaganza, except with less hairspray and a whole lot more laughter! And, let me tell you, the street style was absolutely phenomenal! There was the classic ballerina in her romantic tutu and a pink beret – it’s like she stepped out of a Degas painting, but with an adorable vintage touch. But it wasn’t all traditional, honey! Some people took things in a truly modern, urban direction with black mesh tutus layered over distressed jeans. Think 'The Hunger Games' meets Parisian chic – edgy, rebellious and absolutely rocking it.

The Disco Snail, the Heartbeat of the Bournville Beat There’s this little independent cafe called The Disco Snail, right in the heart of Bournville. #discosnail Imagine: an oasis of sunshine, a dance floor, vintage record players, and walls lined with colourful paintings of snails… because who doesn’t love snails? And on Tutu Tuesday, this cafe becomes the centre of it all. The owners are tutu-lovers through and through. They had an exclusive "Tutu Tuesday Special" on their menu featuring disco-tastic themed snacks and a disco playlist that was pure magic. They had these amazing cupcakes adorned with twirling little edible tutus. I actually tried one myself – trust me, they were better than a dance at the Royal Opera House! Plus, the cafe served up disco balls for everyone to enjoy - a delightful little nod to the night and a truly special touch. I just knew it was going to be a magical evening.

#tututuesday - A Day of Tutus and Triumph My day started off a bit... well, shall we say 'non-ballerina like?' I was running late, obviously! And if that wasn’t bad enough, I decided to ditch the car and brave the Bournville streets. As you can imagine, walking into a local cafe while rocking a vintage, floral tutu was, let’s say, an experience. I swear, people literally stopped, gawked, and pointed! I literally wished I had some ballet shoes on, because my heels were quickly beginning to feel like a torture device! The only way to get into this day was to fully embrace my inner twirling, fabulous self. You know the saying – if you can’t beat them, join them, and if you can’t join them… just rock the tutu, sis! It worked for me. From then on, it was pure joy. The streets were flooded with tutu-clad dancers of all ages and sizes. It was inspiring, heartwarming and a total explosion of creativity! Seeing children giggle and twirl was one of those "life is good" moments you can't help but smile at! But don't think for a second that it was just about dancing and glitter! Tutu Tuesday brought together a diverse group of people from all walks of life, unified by our shared love for this delightful piece of fashion history. I met everyone from local chocolate enthusiasts to art students, retired ballerinas to quirky independent shop owners - all united in a passion for self-expression, and you know what? It made my day.

The Power of A Tutu - It's More Than Just Fabric As a dancer myself, I've always been mesmerized by the power of a tutu. It's a garment that transcends its function – a dancewear necessity. It has become a symbol of strength, grace, and the celebration of the human form, a testament to the enduring power of a feminine silhouette and its ability to ignite joy. On this #tututuesday in Bournville, I realised that the allure of the tutu transcends age, gender, and even profession! It was more than just fashion, it was about celebrating who we are and finding a shared connection in something as unique as a tutu! The best part? The smiles, the laughter and the undeniable joy! As the evening faded, a magical atmosphere filled the streets of Bournville. And I left with the same childlike excitement and love for the simple pleasure of wearing a tutu. The experience taught me something valuable: a simple act of self-expression can ignite joy and build community.

Next week, I'll be sharing my top picks for Tutu Tuesday outfits - because you know I have to help you guys unleash your inner dancer, even if it's just a quick twirl in your living room.
