Tutu Tuesday in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Hey guys, it’s your girl, Clara, coming to you live from the City of Brotherly Love, Philly, PA, to talk about something that always makes me feel like I can conquer the world, **Tutu Tuesday**! #tututuesday

It’s hard to believe another week has flown by! You guys know that for me, ballet is a huge part of my life – it’s how I express myself, my art, and the freedom that comes with dancing on pointe. It also means a whole lotta pink, frills, and sparkles, which we all know is just another way of saying, “I love my tutus!” And because my tutu collection has officially blown up, I thought we could talk about some of my favorite tutu styles in honor of #tututuesday and celebrate ballet in the USA. Here’s a little tutu time-travel down memory lane for y’all:

First off, you have to talk about the **Romantic tutu** – it’s like the Marilyn Monroe of the tutu world. It’s all about soft, flowy tulle with a shorter length. This type of tutu is light and airy, making it perfect for Romantic ballet performances. It’s got that timeless ballerina vibe and instantly takes me back to my classical ballet training.

Speaking of classical training, there’s the **Classical tutu** which, as its name suggests, is your go-to for traditional, classic ballets like Swan Lake or The Sleeping Beauty. These tutus are typically a little longer, with a more structured silhouette. This tutu was like my best friend during those rigorous years at the academy.

Another personal favorite is the **Tutu-esque**, it’s my wild-card, non-traditional tutu, which usually blends some modern, street, or pop culture themes to bring a fresh and sassy energy. They have that playful vibe that keeps me on my toes – no pun intended! This style is pretty close to my heart as a young dancer, it allowed me to get creative and experiment, letting my inner-fashionista run free.

If there’s a trend I've loved embracing this year, it's gotta be **the "more is more" tutus.** We’re talkin’ a ton of layers, lots of volume and details like feathers or even sequins - think a fashion show meets the ballet studio! The drama of it all? Yes please. This style truly allows for an expression of individual style that transcends the limitations of conventional tutu designs. It makes me feel powerful and strong, like I could leap across the entire city.

This leads me to the **Modern tutus** – this is where I find my dance rebel side. They break away from traditional designs. Imagine layering, asymmetrical shapes, even fabrics like silk or jersey - these tutus are like walking sculptures. They move freely, embracing modern dance movements in a unique way. I've been inspired by many modern choreographers that blend movement, artistry, and fashion.

No matter what your style, remember it’s all about having fun with tutus – they’re an expression of your individuality, your artistry, and your dance style. And most importantly, they just make you feel good, a little bit glamorous, and super strong!

What is your favorite tutu style? Drop a comment below! Now get out there, embrace the tutus, and remember that dancing is all about being confident in your own skin. Happy #tututuesday y’all!

Love, Clara Your Philly Dance Friend
