Tutu Tuesday in Gentilly, ÃŽle-de-France, France #tututuesday G'day lovelies! As you know, Tutu Tuesday is my absolute fave day of the week. I love rocking a tutu, whether it’s a classic, romantic, or sassy number. But today’s post is a little bit special, because we're in the land of ballet: France! Specifically, in the chic suburb of Gentilly, located just south of Paris. And trust me, this place is bursting with tutus. Since moving here from Australia to follow my ballet dreams, I've been completely mesmerised by the incredible ballet culture in France. Ballet is practically a religion here, and the Parisians take their dancing incredibly seriously. From the magnificent Palais Garnier to the smaller, intimate studios hidden in alleyways, there’s a dance space on every corner, each a living, breathing piece of artistry. Today, we're diving into the world of Parisian tutus. Here in Gentilly, tutus have their own personality. I wouldn't say they're 'flashy', they are more like a whispered secret, a graceful melody in a symphony. Think classic romantic tutus, wispy and dreamy, designed to float like gossamer clouds across the stage. They are, of course, absolutely stunning, and every ballerina here has a secret crush on the one she’ll wear at the peak of her career: the ‘Swan Lake’ tutu. A symbol of romantic dreams and graceful beauty.
**Now, for a little dose of French chic:** * **Classic Romantic:** Picture delicate layers of tulle, delicately sewn together, and soft pastels like blush pink, ivory, or azure blue. They’re the perfect choice for showcasing intricate footwork and the delicate fluidity of classical ballet. You can also find these beauties with intricate embroideries and embellishments, that would make any ballerina weep with joy! * **Sassy Ballerina:** Who says tutus have to be all sweet and gentle? While most French tutus stick to tradition, here and there, I've seen a touch of a modern vibe: sparkly embellishments and dramatic silhouettes. You won’t see these tutus onstage, though, as they are strictly worn for rehearsals. And just like every Aussie ballerina, we all have that "don't mess with me" mood sometimes! * **Little Tutus for Little Dreams:** Okay, I just couldn't leave the kiddies out. In Gentilly, even the little ballerinas get their tutu fix. I saw these adorable mini-me tutus in an array of colors and designs – just too cute! My heart practically melted. Imagine them, their tiny faces filled with wonder, tiny bodies moving gracefully, fuelled by the magic of ballet and their adorable tutus. It’s heartwarming.
**The Spirit of the Tutu:** You know, tutus in Gentilly aren't just costumes – they're an extension of the city’s character. They are a testament to elegance and artistry, reflecting the Parisian lifestyle. In the ballet world, it’s said that when you put on a tutu, you slip into another dimension – a dimension of beauty, precision, and passion. This, my lovelies, is what Tutu Tuesday is all about. A celebration of the magic of dance, of passion and self-expression, of creativity and elegance. No matter where you are, no matter your style, the spirit of the tutu connects us all. Now, go grab your tutu, and make some magic. I'll be on the hunt for more gorgeous tutus here in the Parisian suburbs, sharing more of my ballet adventures with you next week! #tututuesday
