Tutu Tuesday in Marly Hauts-de-France, France: A Dance through History and Haute Couture

G’day lovelies! I’m Holly, a humble Aussie ballerina and lover of all things fabulous. I’m in France on a whirlwind trip – and yes, it’s everything I ever dreamt of. Channeling my inner Brigitte Bardot while living out a ballet-loving dream! This week, I found myself in the exquisite town of Marly Hauts-de-France. And let me tell you, this charming town’s got a story to tell.

Marly is famous for its exquisite Chateau, a beautiful relic of French royal history. It was the lavish country retreat of King Louis XIV – you know, the ‘Sun King’! And you can just imagine the extravagant balls and dances that took place within its grand halls.

You bet I did a bit of ballet in this amazing place – it’s practically obligatory, isn’t it?! And, well, with all this Parisian history and beautiful scenery swirling around me, it inspired me to kick things off with a Tutu Tuesday – #tututuesday – in honour of my ballerina roots and the elegant French vibe. But of course, there was a Marly twist!

Marly Meets Modern: Tutu-ing Up for a Historical Twirl

I chose to wear a modern tutu – a **soft, romantic and slightly layered design**. It was in a soft shade of rose pink that just screamed elegance. A beautiful **contrasting sash** – think blush with black - wrapped around the waist and a few layers of tulle that fluttered in the breeze, perfect for twirling.

My chosen style had a **distinct French influence** and just exuded that ‘je ne sais quoi’ vibe – a **playful and confident touch** on the traditional ballet classic. It wasn’t too princess-like but had an air of playful fun and sophistication.

Where the Chateau Met The Tutu: Capturing French Magic

I found some gorgeous little courtyards and hidden pathways at the Chateau - perfect spots for #tututuesday pics, if you ask me!

  • There were intricate stone details, lush green foliage and breathtaking views, all bathed in the French sunshine.
  • With every twist and turn, I imagined the elegance of those historical dances. It was **all about those details!** – the swirling gowns, the **exquisite jewels** (maybe not jewels – I wasn’t carrying around an heirloom tiara – I wouldn’t want to drop that!).
  • But imagine a beautiful marquise, her dress like **floating chiffon,** sweeping around as she danced a gavotte. It just oozes **class and history!**

I could **almost hear** the orchestra playing a **slow and romantic** melody… The scene in front of me was so enchanting! And who knows? Maybe they did play the music just like that. I mean, this place has a serious vibe – I can almost imagine it!

The Beauty of French Ballet – From Classic to Contemporary

Marly is a **gorgeous town** to experience ballet – France and ballet just seem **so beautifully entwined,** don’t they?! It was the **inspiration for so many of the dances** we all love. From the ballet classics – like Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and Giselle - to modern dance masterpieces, the **French tradition has shaped the ballet world.** And you can totally **feel the spirit** here. It’s almost as though it’s in the air.

I got to check out **the Marly Ballet school**. It **was small, intimate and super cute** – I have to say, I am feeling a little jealous of the kids getting to train in such a beautiful place!

But honestly, my experience in Marly gave me that **total 'ooh la la' feeling! ** The city, the history, the elegant vibes… it **completely swept me away**! It’s a testament to the **ever-evolving art of dance, with history breathing down your neck!**

If you **find yourself in the Marly region** or **planning a European dance adventure, make sure you add Marly Hauts-de-France to your list.** Let me tell you – this place is bursting with the magic of the past and a definite need to embrace **modern day twirls and contemporary designs.**

And that’s a wrap, lovelies. #tututuesday has **once again inspired a wonderful travel story.** What have **you** been up to this Tuesday?
