Stratford Upon Avon: Tutu Tuesday Adventures

Hey lovely people, it’s your girl, Amelia, back with another post, this time from the beautiful, Shakespearean town of Stratford-Upon-Avon! If you follow me on Insta you’ll know #tututuesday is a thing, but I thought I'd tell you more about the adventure I had last week in my fave tutu!

The Tutu: The Perfect Pairing

This #tututuesday was all about a dreamy, powder-blue tulle tutu with a classic pancake style, complete with a layer of shimmering silver sequins on the bottom. I’d been wanting to wear it for ages and what better place to showcase its beauty than in Stratford-Upon-Avon? It's a town bursting with old-world charm, with its cobbled streets and timbered houses, all against the backdrop of the Avon River. This tutu was just the right balance of graceful and elegant, matching perfectly with the quaintness of the town.

I decided on a classic, fitted white top and black tights to complete the look. To keep it casual for a day of exploring, I paired the ensemble with my comfy white trainers and a chic cross-body bag, keeping it stylish but practical for all the walking and exploring I was planning on doing.

A Day in Shakespeare’s Town: Where History Meets Tutu

Let me tell you, it's truly magical to be able to waltz around Shakespeare’s birth place in a tutu. And honestly, everyone seemed to be totally okay with it! I think they've come to expect some whimsical outfits from the many tourists, especially given that it’s so close to the Royal Shakespeare Company!

My Highlights of the Day:

  • The Stratford-Upon-Avon Butterfly Farm: My first stop was the Butterfly Farm, where the delicate wings of exotic butterflies floated around me as if they were my own personal tutu entourage! Honestly, who doesn’t love a little dose of natural beauty in your #tututuesday!
  • Shakespeare’s Birthplace: What’s more fabulous than posing in a tutu outside Shakespeare’s birth place?! I imagined him, the great Bard himself, watching over me and appreciating the beauty of my tutu! There was something magical about this day.
  • Lunch with a View: Next up was a delightful afternoon tea at the charming Shakespeare's Cafe. As I sipped my tea and indulged in scones and jam, the view of the Avon River made for an idyllic backdrop to my ballerina-inspired outfit! I got to snap some cute photos while enjoying my treats. Definitely a highlight!
  • The Swan Theatre: For a final stop on my tutu-tastic Stratford adventure, I wandered down to the Swan Theatre. I just love the architecture of this building! With it’s warm brick facade and wooden rafters, this old, half-timbered, Elizabethan building definitely inspired a sense of wonder!
  • Shakespeare's Grave: The day finished with a heartfelt moment at Shakespeare’s grave. It was definitely worth braving the crowds! This gave me a chance to reflect on Shakespeare's legacy and its impact on theatre, art and, most importantly for me, ballet.

Tutu Tales and Top Tips for #Tututuesday

Wearing a tutu on #tututuesday is about pushing your boundaries and having a little fun, embracing that inner dancer we all have, and sharing a touch of ballet magic with the world!

If you’re thinking of incorporating the #tututuesday spirit into your wardrobe, I’ve got some tips:

  • Choose the Right Tutu: Don't just pick any tutu, make it your own! Think about where you'll be wearing it and how you want to feel! There are so many beautiful options available, from classical, traditional tulle to more modern, playful styles with unique embellishments! I often browse online stores that cater to both professional dancers and everyday fashion lovers!
  • Mix it Up with Styles: My Tutu-Tuesday rule of thumb is that it can be whatever you make it. So don't feel constrained by the classics! Pair your tutu with casual wear like jeans and a t-shirt for a chic street-style look, dress it up with a blazer and heels for an evening out, or take inspiration from the contemporary designs and modern aesthetics.
  • Keep It Fun: Most importantly, don't take it too seriously. Embrace the joy and freedom of ballet expression, dance, and have fun with your chosen look.

My Final Thoughts:

A #tututuesday adventure in Stratford Upon Avon was just what I needed! There was a perfect blend of historic charm and modern life, and a lot of good food! And yes, a few curious looks. But I don’t mind a bit of attention. The #tututuesday girl doesn't shy away from standing out. Honestly, when you are in your element, that’s what matters! It is all about showing a little personality, celebrating the artistic expression, and simply enjoying yourself, especially when in such a beautiful location as Stratford! Don't just imagine yourself on a tutu-tastic adventure - do it. I bet you’ll get to meet some great people. You just have to try it!

Catch ya next time, you amazing lot!
