Pink Tutu Vienna - Blog Post Number 11! (Wednesday, 19th July 1995)

Hello my dearest pink tutu-loving friends! It's Emma here, your very own ballerina blogger, and guess what? I've arrived in Vienna! 🚂

The train journey was pure bliss! I practically floated through the Alps on a cloud of pink tulle, watching the scenery go by from my window. Let me tell you, there's nothing quite as romantic as the whistle of a train, the soft rumble of the carriage, and the sunshine illuminating the dramatic mountain peaks. I can practically see a ballet unfolding, mountains transformed into dancers, wind as their breath, and clouds as their shimmering costumes!

And of course, a pink tutu is an absolute must-have for any scenic train journey! I even had some envious glances from the gentleman sitting next to me, although I don't think he quite understood my "ballet-inspired" ensemble. 😂

A Touch of Whimsy in Vienna!

Vienna has been on my bucket list for years, ever since I learned about its glorious history in ballet. Oh, the stories, the performances, the costumes! They’re almost impossible to imagine. Just yesterday I stumbled across a shop called 'Marie's Treasures,' crammed to the rafters with vintage ballet costumes. It felt like a time capsule! It was all so exquisite, from lace-trimmed tutus in shades of rose and blush to feathered headpieces fit for a ballerina queen. They even had a tutu made of silk, so soft it felt like a whisper against my skin! Imagine performing with such a piece - pure poetry in motion!

Speaking of which, this evening, I'm heading to the Vienna State Opera to see 'Swan Lake'! I can hardly contain myself! The grandness, the grace, the costumes… I've already packed my best pink tutu – naturally – and am dreaming of being swept up in the magic. I might even wear a fluffy pink boa too - what do you think?

I can already tell Vienna is a city that loves its culture, and I can't wait to experience its vibrant artistic pulse! Maybe I’ll even pick up some more vintage ballet goodies for my collection! 👠

A Waltz Through Time

Speaking of vintage finds, I recently discovered a book about the history of the tutu, which is absolutely fascinating! It charts the evolution of this iconic garment, from the simple, cottony beginnings in the 17th century, all the way to the majestic, billowing skirts of the 19th century and beyond. There are so many fascinating stories of how it has shaped the language of dance. For me, there's nothing quite as lovely as seeing a dancer in a graceful, billowing pink tutu on stage. It's pure enchantment!

Even here in Vienna, the tutu is a beloved symbol of the graceful ballet style, and every performance here has a new and beautiful interpretation. It’s amazing how this garment can hold so much history and culture within its layers!

Oh! I forgot to mention that I stumbled across a quaint cafe while exploring the city called ‘Le Petit Ballerina’. Can you imagine the delight? It was all pink, and they even had a ballet-themed menu. They even offered little, adorable ballet-themed sweets, decorated like tiny pink tutus and ballet shoes. Who knew that Viennese pastry could be so imaginative?

Ballet – A Love Language

Today I’m headed for my weekly ballet class! It's my weekly dose of grace and self-expression! I might even give those who dare a pink tutu for my class today… we'll see! 😂

So, to all of you fabulous dancers and dreamers, keep twirling and stay tuned for more pink-tutu adventures from Vienna!

Until next week, darling readers! And don't forget to wear your pink tutus wherever you go - you're not just wearing a garment, but spreading a spirit of fun and beauty.

P.S And if you have any amazing ballet tips for my trip to Vienna, do send them my way! I can always learn from a fellow pink tutu lover! 🌸 💖

Love always,

Emma. 💖
