Pink Tutu Vienna - Post 21: Waltz Through the City of Dreams! 🩰🇦🇹
Hello lovelies! It's your favourite tutu-clad travel enthusiast, Emma, and guess what? This week, I'm waltzing through Vienna! 💖
Vienna, the city of music, waltzes, and imperial splendour, has been calling to me for ages. It’s like the perfect mix of history and elegance, just like my favourite tutu from Derbyshire. And, honestly, it’s absolutely lived up to the hype.
Trains, tutus, and a touch of history
This journey was extra special because I took the train here! Travelling by train is such a fun, relaxed, and, let’s be honest, extraordinarily photogenic way to travel. The rhythmic chugging and views flitting by always inspire my inner ballerina, and who doesn’t love rocking a pink tutu on a train? The conductor even gave me a wink when he saw my ensemble! 😉
I arrived in Vienna with a spring in my step and a new sparkly pink tutu fresh from a boutique in Paris. I’ve got a thing for collecting tutus, and I just couldn’t resist snagging this one when I was passing through for a performance.
Vienna’s train station was full of charm, and my first sight of the city from the station windows was stunning! Those magnificent buildings! Those picturesque streets! They were all just begging for a twirl!
My Vienna Waltz: Exploring the city's beauty
Vienna is truly the perfect destination for a tutu enthusiast like myself!
My first stop had to be the Hofburg Palace – its history just oozes from every brick. This grand palace, the winter residence of the Habsburg dynasty for over 600 years, was practically a wonderland of ornate details, majestic rooms, and secret passageways. They say Empress Sisi used to wear extravagant tutus during the Viennese balls. Imagine the grandeur!
And the Vienna State Opera, where Mozart himself once graced the stage, was magnificent! I managed to snag tickets for a ballet performance, a production of "Giselle," and oh my goodness! It was breathtaking. I haven't seen such elegance in choreography for years! I can’t wait to practice all the new moves I learnt! I could barely stop myself from jumping on stage myself to join the graceful ballerinas. It was pure bliss, even more so in this beautiful setting!
*Pink Tutu Power! *
Every corner of Vienna seems to inspire a little pirouette! I had the most enchanting day strolling along the Ringstrasse, soaking up the grand architecture of Vienna's 19th-century masterpiece. The Austrian Parliament Building, the Burgtheater with its statuesque Greek nymphs, the Vienna City Hall, even the Volksoper Vienna, every building seemed like a theatrical set!
Then, a charming carriage ride, which reminded me of the grand horse-drawn carriages of the era of the first tutu wearers! And as we trotted through the cobbled streets, my pink tutu swirled gracefully with the breeze, blending seamlessly with Vienna's elegant backdrop.
Vienna has an uncanny way of taking your breath away with its historical charm. The Schönbrunn Palace was truly amazing! Those manicured gardens! It felt like walking straight into a fairytale, and it was the perfect backdrop to indulge in my passion for all things tutu. You know what they say – a princess is always in her element in a fairytale setting!
The shops in Vienna! A shopping spree was definitely a necessity for this pink tutu-obsessed traveler. From luxurious boutiques to quirky vintage shops, I found an amazing selection of the most fantastic accessories for my tutu collections! My shopping bag could barely contain it all!
Dancing my way to a delectable dinner
Speaking of indulging, the Austrian food was beyond delicious. Forget the schnitzel and try some local strudels. I opted for a flaky, buttery apple strudel topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, while sitting outside one of Vienna’s cozy, candlelit cafes. It felt so luxurious and perfect for my pink tutu wardrobe!
After a long day of twirling, I took the stage for an exhilarating ballet performance to earn a bit more pocket money for all my tutus!
My Vienna waltz continues…
As I write this post, sitting in a sun-drenched Vienna cafe, surrounded by beautiful architecture and people in the most charming fashion, I realize that Vienna has stolen a little piece of my heart. The combination of history, culture, and, of course, ballet, has made this trip a truly magical experience.
And it makes me believe that everywhere I travel, I can find the perfect spot for a twirl, even on the cobbled streets of a bustling European city. Maybe one day we can twirl together, dear readers! In the meantime, be sure to check back for next week's Pink Tutu adventure.
Stay lovely, and wear pink tutus proudly! 💖
Lots of love,
Emma x
