Pink Tutu Vienna: A Whirlwind Waltz Through Vienna, Post #42

Hello darlings! It’s your favourite pink tutu-clad blogger, Emma, reporting live from the breathtakingly beautiful Vienna, Austria.

This is post number 42 of my weekly Vienna blog, landing every Wednesday on www.pink-tutu.com. This week, Vienna has been spinning me around like a ballerina in a whirlwind of waltzes, delicious pastries, and, of course, beautiful tutus.

Vienna is a city bursting with culture, a melting pot of history and artistic beauty, just like me, really! This city feels so wonderfully decadent – all grand buildings, cobbled streets, and, my absolute favourite, horse-drawn carriages. I hopped on one today for a trip through the old town, and let me tell you, the horses have such elegant, powerful strides, a little bit like ballet!

Speaking of which, you know my favourite things in life? Ballet! Tutus! Fashion! Well, let me tell you, Vienna is the ultimate fairytale ballet land. This weekend, I’m attending a special performance of Swan Lake at the Vienna State Opera. I’m simply over the moon to be seeing it! I can already picture those magnificent tutus on the dancers. You see, dear readers, a ballet performance just isn't complete without the magic of the tutus. A ballerina in a tutu, gliding across the stage... well, it’s a sight that takes my breath away.

My Ballet Boutique Adventure

While in Vienna, I stumbled upon the most divine little boutique tucked away in a charming side street – the "Ballerina’s Closet". They have a beautiful collection of tutus – everything from vintage, handmade, to contemporary and modern. It’s truly a ballet lover's paradise! And, the best part is, I scored a stunning, pink, lace-trimmed tutu – my heart just skipped a beat when I saw it! Oh, you know how I love pink and tutus! I mean, a tutu is really an essential part of every girl's wardrobe.

The Magic of Train Travel

To reach this enchanting city, I took a delightful train ride from Derbyshire. I must say, I have a special affection for train travel. There’s just something so charming about settling into a plush seat, gazing at the picturesque landscapes flashing by, and writing in my pink, sequin-studded diary, fuelled by a cup of tea, and a freshly-baked scone (that’s right, I have to maintain that figure for all the tutu-ing and pirouetting!). It feels so grand and elegant. I truly believe the journey is just as exciting as the destination, especially when you're sporting a vibrant, eye-catching, tutu outfit!

A Date with Destiny: Ballet & Viennese Coffee

Speaking of the enchanting Viennese lifestyle, it is, of course, inextricably intertwined with the city's rich ballet heritage. Imagine this, darlings: The streets alive with the rhythmic sound of ballet dancers in beautiful costumes practicing their steps. And, that charming "café culture," where people take their time savoring a traditional Viennese coffee while listening to the sound of beautiful, intricate waltzes playing on a grand piano. Oh, the romance of it all!

Vienna has a delightful “ballet on the street” movement going on. Imagine the excitement - flash mobs erupting into impromptu performances on street corners, ballets taking place on historic bridges. It’s all about showcasing the beauty and power of this timeless art form.

A Peek into the Past: Vienna’s Dance Heritage

One of my favorite places here in Vienna is the “Vienna Dance Museum” (known locally as the “Tanzmuseum Wien” ). It truly is a treat for anyone passionate about dance history. The museum has fascinating exhibitions of old costumes and set designs – including vintage tutus, oh how I wish I had those! And, there are photographs, videos and exhibits showing how dance evolved and changed over the centuries. I simply love being able to peek into the rich history of tutus and the people behind them! It's important to appreciate the artistry that goes into ballet costumes because it all helps to tell the story of a dancer and her character on stage!

Today’s Delight: A Trip to the Imperial Palace

Today, I ventured out to explore the beautiful Schönbrunn Palace. It was simply magnificent! And you know what I saw? Horse-drawn carriages all over! Oh, and a lovely gift shop with all the prettiest pink ballet slippers. They had these exquisite little ones with sparkling rhinestones that were calling my name. Of course, I simply had to get myself a pair, because we all know a fashionable tutu girl like me simply can't be without ballet shoes to go with!

And what is a ballet themed day without a delicious Viennese apple strudel? It is said that this pastry, with its flakey, golden-brown crust and sweet apple filling is a must-try, and so I treated myself to one, a tiny piece because, as you all know, a tutu-wearing ballerina must stay in top shape. This divine pastry was the perfect sweet treat after my shopping spree! I swear it was like dancing on my tongue!

Sharing the Pink Tutu Love:

Oh darlings, while I'm here in Vienna, I just have to share some news. It's been wonderful to see everyone's love for my "Wear A Pink Tutu Day" initiative. My heart is bursting with joy as I receive lovely messages and photos from all across the world, people embracing this idea and wearing a tutu. It simply shows how powerful a simple pink tutu can be!

And I can already tell you that it won’t be too long before I am sharing even more travel photos and stories with you on my blog, but for now, I’m off to try more Vienna’s amazing coffee and to plan the next big, pink-tutu, ballet themed event.

Until then, darlings, stay sparkly!

Your loving Pink Tutu Blogger,

Emma
