Pink Tutu Vienna: Blog Post #63 - A Whirlwind of Waltz and Wiener Schnitzel!

Hello, my darling darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad travel blogger, Emma, reporting live from the glorious city of Vienna! Yes, you heard right, I've swapped Derbyshire's rolling hills for the enchanting Viennese streets, and let me tell you, it's been a complete and utter dream!

This week, it's been all about twirling under the grand chandeliers of the Vienna State Opera and savouring the delectable delights of this cultural paradise. As always, my trusty pink tutu made the journey with me, of course, because what's a trip to a city steeped in dance history without a little pink tutu magic?

Speaking of magic, my journey here was just as fantastical as a waltz in a fairytale. I boarded the train in Derbyshire with my favourite ballet shoes nestled beside me and, for a change, instead of the usual tutu, I decided to go for a more practical but equally stylish pink floral dress, perfect for a countryside train journey. A couple of hours later, I was gazing out the window, watching the green rolling fields turn into a symphony of pastel houses, majestic mountains and the gleaming blue Danube - utterly enchanting! I couldn't help but feel like a princess venturing into a whimsical kingdom!

And that kingdom, dear readers, is nothing short of spectacular! Vienna, oh Vienna, you have truly stolen my heart. From the grand architecture, the cobblestone streets lined with quaint cafes, to the gentle whispers of waltzes echoing through the squares, you are an ode to art, beauty and a joyful spirit! I simply adore you!

A Waltz Through History

As any tutu-clad traveller worth her salt knows, Vienna is a mecca for ballet. I've spent countless hours immersing myself in the rich ballet history of this city, visiting the glorious Vienna State Opera and the graceful Vienna Opera Ball. I could spend hours just strolling through the hallowed halls of the Opera House, dreaming of the iconic ballerinas who danced here and feeling their presence within the grandeur of the building. I even treated myself to a performance of "Swan Lake," and let me tell you, it was like stepping straight into a beautiful dream. The choreography was simply stunning, the music took my breath away and, well, the tutus - chef's kiss - they were absolutely exquisite. I even spotted a pink one, naturally!

Pink Perfection in Vienna

Now, no trip to Vienna would be complete without indulging in a little retail therapy, right? And believe me, dear readers, this city has truly spoiled me! I discovered a delightful little boutique tucked away on a charming cobblestone street, overflowing with the most gorgeous, exquisite clothing - I swear it was like walking into a ballerina's wardrobe dream. From frothy floral dresses to intricate silk blouses, each piece whispered tales of femininity and grace, and I simply couldn't resist indulging in a few precious additions to my wardrobe. Needless to say, a splash of pink found its way into my basket! It's true, sometimes a bit of pink is just the perfect accessory to spice up a sophisticated outfit - wink wink.

Tutu Tidbits

To bring this week's adventures to a perfect close, I simply had to explore Vienna's historical connection to tutus. After all, every tutu enthusiast knows Vienna's legacy when it comes to this fabulous garment! I tracked down a hidden gem tucked away in a secret courtyard โ€“ a fascinating museum dedicated to the history of dance, fashion and, naturally, tutus. I spent a delightful afternoon delving into its treasures, exploring the intricate designs of ballet shoes, learning about the evolution of tutu styles throughout history, and feeling the spirit of ballerinas past dance through my veins. I've come to realise, it's the same tutu that adorns ballerinas today as the one that adorned the dancers of yesteryear, perhaps with a few slight modifications - what a magical legacy!

Vienna in a Nutshell (or should I say, a Wiener Schnitzel!)

In the words of the illustrious waltz king, Johann Strauss II, "Life is but a waltz, now fast, now slow!" and this couldn't be truer of my time in Vienna. Every day is a beautiful dance of delightful surprises, cultural delights and captivating charm.

Now, where to next on my pink tutu adventures? Youโ€™ll have to wait and see! But trust me, it will be fabulous! Stay tuned, my darlings, and make sure to follow my website and Instagram for more pink tutu fashion updates!

Until next Wednesday, my loves!

Love, Emma
