Pink Tutu Vienna - Post 280: Waltz Through Vienna in Pink!

Dearest readers,

Well, here I am in the magical city of Vienna! My latest adventure began with a gloriously sunny train journey across the Austrian countryside, which I spent scribbling away in my journal (naturally adorned with a pink tutu) about the wonderful sights and scents along the way. Every corner of this journey felt like a scene straight out of a whimsical storybook.

Vienna! I’ve arrived, and it’s a symphony of history and elegance, all wrapped in a charmingly vintage package. The cobbled streets, the grand architecture, the vibrant cafes, it all breathes with a history so rich you can practically feel it. As soon as I arrived, I put on my most beautiful pink tutu - naturally! – and wandered through the city’s heart. The pastel-hued buildings and vibrant flower boxes looked like they were made for twirling! I do believe that even the street musicians stopped to watch as I pranced down the Stephansplatz, just a little hint of the ballet dancer within me bubbling to the surface.

Vienna's Ballerina Charm

But it’s more than just beautiful buildings and streets here; Vienna has a soul of grace and elegance, and a true appreciation for the artistry of ballet. And speaking of art, what better place to begin my explorations than the magnificent Vienna State Opera House? From its stunning marble facade to the velvet-lined auditorium, everything about this house exudes timeless elegance. It’s the most magnificent stage I’ve ever seen – I almost forgot to enjoy the performance itself, lost in admiration for the beauty around me. The opera itself was a delightful blend of romanticism and powerful vocals – absolutely breathtaking. I, of course, managed to fit in some impromptu pirouettes and grand jetés in the grand foyer, which made several gentlemen gasp and one sweet granny gave me a nod of approval, clearly appreciating the artistry. I do believe she recognised the dancer within!

Later that evening, I found myself enchanted by the Belvedere Palace. The art collections housed within, the captivating views, and the beautiful gardens, all provided a perfect backdrop for some whimsical ballet poses. The park's serene atmosphere allowed me to reflect on the ballet traditions of Austria and the stories behind the artworks.

My Vienna Wardrobe & Finds

No trip to Vienna is complete without a touch of haute couture shopping, naturally. The first thing I needed was an outfit that screamed "I’m a pink tutu wearing ballerina from Derbyshire, England," and you guessed it - a pink tutu dress was just the ticket! This particular one, adorned with little pink sequins and a flowing tulle skirt, was my pride and joy – it really allowed my inner ballerina to shine. Imagine my joy when I found an incredible vintage millinery shop tucked away in a narrow alleyway - perfect for accessorizing my tutu! A bejeweled headband, a whimsical feather boa, and a beautiful floral crown – my head was truly adorned!

However, this is Vienna, a city known for its intricate details and elegant fabrics. You just can't go here and not visit one of the countless boutiques! The silk scarves I found, all in shades of rose and lavender, will become cherished memories of this romantic city. My trusty travel journal, also overflowing with beautiful sketches of ballerina dancers, now contains an exciting collection of stamps from Austria and Vienna – they will be treasured additions to my collection.

My "Pink Tutu" Quest for the City

Vienna, you truly are the city of my dreams! The fairytale architecture, the vibrant culture, and the intoxicating music have left me utterly captivated. Each day here, I find myself searching for a hidden beauty in every street corner. And my quest for pink tutus, of course! As I made my way down a quaint street today, I discovered the most delightful store! It had a beautifully crafted porcelain doll adorned with the most perfect pink tulle tutu and an array of colourful accessories – just imagine how gorgeous it looked! I couldn't resist bringing it home with me! It now proudly graces my dressing table back in the little room I rented.

Vienna has been an absolute treat so far. From exploring the city’s majestic palaces to soaking in the ambiance of its enchanting cafés, I’ve truly discovered a treasure trove of inspiration for my blog. There is something about this city that seems to make the world move in slow motion – it's a welcome break from the usual frantic pace of life. Perhaps it is the graceful swans gliding on the calm waters of the Vienna River, the charming horse-drawn carriages that take you through the picturesque streets, or the beautiful musicians who play enchanting tunes at every corner! Wherever you find yourself in Vienna, there’s an undeniable air of romanticism, a gentle embrace of art, and an appreciation for beauty that truly warms the soul. I highly recommend this enchanting city. You just might find your own muse in its charming atmosphere!

As for my pink tutu, I’ve made it a mission to encourage everyone I meet to embrace the joyful spirit of the pink tutu. Perhaps, by the time my visit is done, everyone will be prancing about Vienna with pink tulle flowing behind them. A girl can dream, can't she?

Stay tuned for next week's post when I’ll share my experience at one of Vienna’s famous ballrooms, along with tips for creating your own fairytale evening! And if you’re interested in joining my quest for spreading the pink tutu love, be sure to let me know. Until then, keep twirling, darling!

Lots of pink love,

Emma xoxo
