My darlings,
Vienna! The city of waltzes, pastries, and⦠you guessed it, Tutus! š©°
Itās Wednesday, which means a new blog post, straight from my heart and, of course, my trusty pink tutu.
This week, I'm waltzing through the cobbled streets of Vienna, where history and romance swirl like a perfectly spun pirouette.
Remember that saying āIf you canāt beat them, join themā? Well, my dear readers, Vienna seems to be saying āIf you canāt waltz, wear a pink tutu!ā. š
From my hotel window, I can see the glorious Vienna State Opera, a beautiful example of neo-renaissance architecture. Theyāre actually hosting a performance of āSwan Lakeā this very evening, which of course, I'm utterly delighted to see!
Now, don't you think the majestic grandeur of the opera house simply begs for a dash of pink? Don't be shy - I say let's all take our cue from the swans and grace this city with a flurry of tutus!
Speaking of swans, I'm rather enchanted by the swans that populate the Schƶnbrunn Palace gardens, another absolute must-see in Vienna. These birds, with their regal elegance, almost out-tutued the exquisite gardens themselves! Theyāre the perfect embodiment of grace and poise, which brings us back to the beautiful art form we all love - ballet.
Last night, I witnessed the sheer brilliance of the Vienna State Ballet during a performance of āGiselleā. I could barely contain my excitement (or the rustling of my tulle!) when the Corps de Ballet glided across the stage, creating a mesmerizing tapestry of movement. They were like a field of pink flowers swaying in the breeze! And speaking of swaying, the Waltz of the Hours, played by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra was so elegant, it left me utterly mesmerized! It's enough to make any ballerina swoon!
Oh, and did I mention Viennaās Fashion Week kicked off earlier this week?! Naturally, I couldn't resist popping in and out of some exquisite boutiques to witness the latest trends. It's no surprise, Iām absolutely thrilled to announce that tutus are absolutely in this season, my darlings! They've taken the runway by storm, and you can see why ā they're so chic and so effortlessly graceful!
Vienna is also home to the Museum of the History of Art, with a phenomenal collection of works by Peter Paul Rubens. His vibrant colours and dynamic compositions simply screamed ātutu-worthy"! I'd imagine his famous paintings in shades of pink, now that's a masterpiece!
As for shopping, I discovered the most heavenly little vintage clothing store called āFrƤulein Schmetterlingā. Its walls are adorned with vintage treasures just waiting to be repurposed. You wouldnāt believe the amount of satin, tulle and chiffon waiting for a chance to be transformed into the most fabulous tutus! I actually purchased the most adorable 1920ās dress yesterday - just imagine a vintage ballet dancer, with an air of effortless elegance, gliding down the streets of Vienna - absolutely stunning!
Speaking of Viennaās iconic beauty, did you know āThe Ringā, Vienna's famous grand boulevard, has also had tutu influence! A āringā is a circle and what better symbol for ballet than *āThe Circle of Lifeā * ? From the iconic Vienna Opera House, the elegant Hofburg Palace, to the glorious Museum of Art History and even Schƶnbrunn Palace, you could practically trace the shape of a ballerina's tutu around the entire city! It truly feels like you could pirouette all the way through the grand boulevards and beautiful parks! I couldn't help but imagine a breathtaking spectacle of dancers floating through these historic avenues, twirling into every elegant square - what a dream!
Vienna really has stolen my heart with its romantic charm. Whether itās the rich history, beautiful architecture or the delicious pastries, itās a place that makes a girl feel truly inspired.
But for me, the greatest inspiration is the passion for beauty, a common thread in everything from ballet to fashion. Vienna seems to have an infectious love for all things graceful and delightful, which makes it an ideal spot for a tutu-clad girl like myself.
Next week, I'm hopping on a train and heading towards Munich, where, you can bet, I'll be searching for the perfect lederhosen for my ballet practice ā one with a tutu-inspired twist of course! And before I go, donāt forget to check out my exclusive tutorial on āHow to create your own pink tutuā - itās free and ready to be enjoyed!
Until next Wednesday,
Love, Emma š
