Pink Tutu Vienna - Blog Post #357

Vienna, Austria - 6th March, 2003

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-clad traveller, writing to you from the enchanting city of Vienna! As you know, my weekly Vienna blog is a cherished tradition – every Wednesday, I’m here to share my adventures, my fashion finds, and of course, all things ballet!

This week has been a whirlwind of Viennese delights. The moment I stepped off the train (after a delightful journey, travelling through picturesque landscapes on a charming steam engine - just my cup of tea!), the city embraced me with its grandeur and charm. The majestic buildings, the vibrant markets, and the smell of freshly baked pastries… Vienna is a true fairy tale!

But my heart truly skipped a beat when I spotted the magnificent Vienna State Opera House. I just had to peek inside and marvel at the opulence. It felt like stepping back in time – the rich red velvet, the intricately carved ceilings, and the anticipation of a magnificent performance, it was just heavenly! I swear, I could hear the strains of Tchaikovsky in the air!

Speaking of Tchaikovsky, you wouldn't believe the incredible show I saw last night! The Vienna State Ballet put on a production of Swan Lake that was truly unforgettable. The dancers, graceful like swans gliding on a moonlit lake, captivated me completely. Every step was imbued with such passion, each twirl a tiny explosion of elegance. I almost cried at the end – pure emotional beauty, just as ballet should be!

The show was just the start of my exciting Viennese week. This afternoon, I'm off to the magnificent Hofburg Palace, home to the Habsburg Emperors. You wouldn’t believe the treasures I found there – exquisite jewellery, ornate weaponry, and even a room full of elaborate gowns worn by Empress Maria Theresa herself! Talk about fashion inspiration!

And, of course, no trip to Vienna is complete without indulging in some serious shopping. The boutiques in the Graben, with their beautiful window displays, have stolen my heart. I couldn't resist adding a few new treasures to my wardrobe – a delicate lace shawl in a dreamy blush pink, a stunning hat with a feathered trim, and a pair of sparkling ballerina flats that would make even the most demanding swan envious!

But the true highlight of the week was meeting the lovely Viennese ballerina, Isabella. She is a talented ballerina with a true passion for ballet, and we spent a wonderful afternoon exploring the city and talking about our shared love for the art form. We even snuck in a visit to the famous Vienna State Ballet School, where the little ballerinas were practicing their pirouettes with such grace and focus – a truly heartwarming sight.

And let’s not forget about my signature pink tutu! Vienna is absolutely teeming with charming shops overflowing with beautiful tulle, feathers and ribbon. I must admit, I had to make a quick stop for a few new creations, you see… every city needs a new tutu! One in the rich, warm tones of the Hofburg Palace, and another in a delicate shade of pastel pink that's as soft as the petals of a blossoming rose – simply divine!

As I pen these words, sitting in my quaint Viennese cafe with a delicious latte, I can't help but reflect on this beautiful city. Vienna is a magical place, brimming with art, history, and most importantly, beauty!

Until next week, darlings, I urge you to embrace the enchanting power of pink and put on your tutus! Let your inner ballerina shine, no matter where you are! And as always, remember that even the smallest pink tutu can inspire a world of beauty and joy.

Stay fashionable and graceful!

Love,

Emma
