Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #388 - Whirlwind in Vienna!

Hello darling dears! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means - a fresh new post from yours truly, Emma, the Pink Tutu Princess, direct from the heart of Vienna! This week, I'm bringing you a whirlwind tour of all things pink and twirly in the City of Music!

This past week, darling dears, was nothing short of a fairy tale! My darling steed, a majestic black mare named "Etoile," (I just adore her name!), took me from my quaint hotel, which smelled delightfully of freshly-baked strudel (oh, Vienna, you spoil me!), to a very special performance at the Vienna State Opera.

Now, you all know I live for ballet, and darling dears, this performance was simply divine! The staging was opulent, like a dream spun from velvet and diamonds, and the costumes, well, let's just say the amount of tulle could rival the grandest royal ball! I was positively spellbound by the exquisite artistry, the emotion pouring from each dancer, the sheer grace and precision. It was as though a ballet had been plucked from a bygone era and presented to the modern world. And of course, the music, darling dears, the music was simply sublime, transporting me to a land of dreams and enchantments.

But that's not all, darling dears! As much as I love seeing a beautiful ballet, I adore getting my own pirouette on. And in Vienna, they know how to pamper a ballerina! This past week, I had the absolute joy of joining a ballet class right in the heart of the city. Imagine this, darling dears, the cobblestone streets bustling with life, but inside the grand ballroom, we were transported to a world of delicate steps and graceful gestures. The instructor was absolutely delightful, reminding me of a kind-faced angel guiding me through the movements. It felt as though the world was standing still as I executed my fouettés and arabesques.

Between performances and classes, Vienna offered me a smorgasbord of delights! It was as if I'd stepped onto the pages of a picture book - pastel coloured houses adorned with flower boxes, grand palaces, and hidden alleyways where laughter danced in the air.

Fashion Fandango in Vienna

One day, darling dears, I was walking along a street, all cobblestones and quaint boutiques, and suddenly, BAM! A window display that took my breath away. It was a beautiful shop, stuffed to the brim with frocks and furs, glittering baubles, and a delightful collection of silk and lace. And you know me, I just can't resist a beautiful boutique, darling dears!

Naturally, I popped in. I've always been a firm believer that fashion, darling dears, is not simply a means of clothing oneself, but an expression of the soul. The shopkeeper, a delightful gentleman with a twinkle in his eye and a wardrobe that screamed “Viennese chic,” greeted me like a long-lost friend. He helped me find the perfect velvet jacket - a rich plum shade that shimmered in the afternoon light. He even encouraged me to add a few more things - an adorable feathered headband, a lace scarf as delicate as spun moonlight, and, naturally, a magnificent vintage fan, complete with a bejeweled handle. Let's just say my shopping trip was as fun as a ballet class with a generous dollop of Viennese glamour sprinkled on top!

Oh, and did I tell you, darling dears, about the gorgeous ballet costume shop I found nestled among the cobbled streets? It was like stepping into a tutu wonderland! My head spun with sparkly, shimmering dresses, fluffy tutus, and elegant pointe shoes in all the shades of the rainbow! Oh darling, my credit card whimpered, but my heart danced with joy. I must say, darling dears, my ballet wardrobe now has an extra dose of Viennese panache, which will surely put a little extra "je ne sais quoi" in my steps on stage.

The Perfect Vienna Pastry

And now, for the grand finale, darling dears - Viennese pastries! I must confess, Vienna, you have officially earned a spot as the "pastry capital of the world" in my heart. Everywhere I turn, I stumble upon the most delectable sweets. We’re talking decadent chocolate tarts, airy pastries filled with sweet berries, creamy custards encased in buttery, golden pastry. My stomach is in love!

My favourite, darling dears, has to be the Sachertorte. The sheer richness of this chocolate cake with its apricot jam filling and silky chocolate glaze - heaven in a dessert! You must absolutely try it when you visit!

Oh darling dears, Vienna is just magical, I wish I could bottle this delightful experience and share it with you all. But I must say, a piece of Vienna is already with you all – every twirl, every pink tutu moment.

*See you all next Wednesday, my darling dears, for more pink tutu adventures! *

Much love, Emma, the Pink Tutu Princess.
