Vienna, Darling! - Post #445

Hello, lovelies! It’s Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Vienna update! I'm writing to you from a gorgeous little café tucked away in the heart of Vienna, the scent of warm apple strudel filling the air (I'm definitely going to order one – Vienna's strudels are legendary!). My feet, thankfully, are firmly planted on the ground, unlike they often are back home in Derbyshire, but just because I'm not twirling in a tutu doesn't mean I'm not feeling absolutely divine.

This week has been absolutely stuffed with incredible experiences, all made extra special thanks to my beloved pink tutu, of course! It’s a constant companion, and this time around, it's even been on a carriage ride through the beautiful Schönbrunn Gardens, which, as I’m sure you all know, was the summer residence of the Habsburg emperors! The carriage was magnificent, the horses were even more so, and of course, my pink tutu was simply flawless. I might have just slightly startled a few fellow tourists, but what’s a bit of scandal if it makes everyone smile?

Speaking of scandal, my last ballet performance was just divine! My favourite piece was a showstopping performance of The Nutcracker, a favourite from childhood. Honestly, it felt magical, the sheer beauty and elegance of it all was breathtaking. I got a lovely email from a fellow dancer in the audience, who’d told me she’d been struggling to find her place but that seeing my tutu had given her a burst of inspiration to wear something more extra for her next performance.

My heart absolutely bursts with joy every time I hear a story like that. Remember, darling, it's all about finding that bit of joy and embracing the power of pink tutus – they truly are life-changing!

Now, on to today’s adventure!

Vienna is truly a ballerina's paradise. The city boasts one of the most historic ballet companies in the world – the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera)! It is a grand venue and an incredible space to witness the majesty of classical ballet. The interior alone is breathtaking! Just imagine the opulent costumes and elaborate set designs… just thinking about it is making my heart flutter. Today I’m going on a backstage tour – I’m absolutely beside myself with excitement, can you tell?! I'll be sure to tell you all about it next week.

My favourite Vienna experience this week has been the Hofburg Palace! This sprawling complex has an incredible history and is where the emperors of Austria used to live. It’s also the location of the Imperial Apartments, the Treasury, and even the Spanish Riding School! Oh my gosh, darling, have you ever seen horses trained in dressage? It’s a form of dancing, practically, with elegance, skill and pure athleticism, and they even wear pretty shoes! So graceful and majestic – just like ballet!

And what's a visit to Vienna without a trip to the MuseumsQuartier (Museum Quarter)? It’s such a vibrant, creative place where art galleries, performance spaces, and funky cafes mix seamlessly. The whole space oozes an artistic spirit that's truly captivating. Yesterday I was completely lost in the Leopold Museum. Their permanent collection of art is absolutely incredible – a must-see for every art lover.

But this is more than just about exploring galleries, darling! Vienna's museums are all about embracing creativity. Whether you're a seasoned art enthusiast or a first-time museum visitor, it's a great opportunity to see and appreciate new styles. So, be sure to add a museum visit to your itinerary when you visit this beautiful city.

Outfit Deets:

Oh darling, I've got a great little outfit I’m going to share with you! You might just be inspired to recreate it – I know I will be, especially if I spot something new! It’s not necessarily tutu-appropriate for museum exploring, but you’ll understand the link! I’m rocking a beautifully fitted dark velvet dress, which I’ve paired with my pink silk ballet shoes. And yes, my dear, it's all perfectly matched! To add a dash of Viennese sparkle, I’ve also accessorized with a stunning crystal pendant that looks like a little ballerina (so cute, I know!)

Don't worry – I’ll still share pictures from the carriage ride with you next week! This pink tutu deserves its very own blog post!

Shopping!

It’s a bit of a well-kept secret but Vienna is the place to go for designer boutiques. The Naschmarkt, a bustling marketplace in the city centre, has a delightful array of local and international brands – something for everyone and for all budgets. There’s something about those vintage threads and antique jewellery that just screams elegance and glamour, perfect for a stylish girl like myself.

However, today I’m going to the Opera shop for some extra fancy tulle! I’ve already started dreaming up the designs for a few more tutus I might create. Can you believe it, darling? My next creation is going to be a magnificent magenta tutu with stunning lace embellishments! Think the Swan Lake costume but in a beautiful bright magenta hue. What a spectacular vision, wouldn’t you agree? I have an idea, darling, about incorporating silk flowers into the tutu – how absolutely gorgeous would that look!

I might be slightly biased towards all things pink but for all my fellow tutu lovers – trust me, this trip is going to be amazing. I promise you there’ll be many, many more tutus in my blog soon. There are some pretty special pink tutu plans brewing here, you have no idea! I will try my best to keep you updated on all the latest developments! I do need some creative inspiration and Vienna’s a treasure trove!

Don't Forget:

Don't forget to follow Pink Tutu Vienna on [Social media platform] for daily updates and behind-the-scenes peeks! I will be posting a few pictures of my outfits (with the new ones on Wednesday – don’t miss out, darling!) I'm looking forward to hearing what you’re thinking, lovelies, so be sure to drop me a comment!

Until next time, darling!

Emma
