Vienna Waltz, Baby! - Post #471

Wednesday, 12th May 2004

Good morning, darlings! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means? It's time for another Pink Tutu Vienna adventure!

I'm writing this from a darling little cafe in the heart of Vienna, surrounded by the most delightful pastries you ever did see. They're the perfect fuel for a day of exploring the city and immersing myself in the magic of Viennese ballet.

Oh, and let's not forget, I'm wearing a rather splendid pink tutu, of course! It's a beautiful silk number, perfectly poofy and twirly, with layers upon layers of tulle that make me feel like a ballerina princess.

Vienna is a city steeped in history, and that history just oozes out of every cobblestone and baroque building. And then there's the music! Strauss waltzes wafting through the streets, classical tunes from every street performer, the opera house humming with passion... It's a true feast for the senses, and my darling tutu just can't get enough of it.

Speaking of music, have I told you about my newest tutu collection? Inspired by the ballerinas of the Vienna State Opera, I'm calling it the "Vienna Waltz" line. Think elegant satin, sparkling embellishments, and a touch of vintage charm. Perfect for twirling to a Viennese waltz!

But let's get down to the real reason I'm in Vienna. Ballet, darling, ballet! I was lucky enough to score tickets to see "Swan Lake" at the Vienna State Opera House last night. Oh, my goodness! The sheer grandeur of the performance, the effortlessness of the dancers, the raw emotion... It was enough to bring tears to my eyes. The swans' graceful movements, their strength and artistry, it was truly mesmerising. I spent half the performance in a mesmerised daze, lost in a world of graceful spins, delicate steps, and poignant stories. My favourite was the pas de deux between the White Swan and the Prince - I swear, my heart just melted!

You know, you just can't beat live performance! And for a ballet aficionado like me, Vienna is pure heaven. This city practically breathes dance, with its charming ballrooms, exquisite theaters, and a legacy of some of the world's most acclaimed ballet companies.

Even in between shows, I get my fill of ballet. Just the other day, I stumbled upon the most delightful little dance studio tucked away in a side street. It was an absolute delight to join a ballet class for beginners and attempt to recall all my years of training. Even though I felt a bit stiff (it has been a while!), it was so exhilarating to feel that pure joy of movement again, the freedom of expressing myself through dance.

And speaking of expressing oneself, don't forget about the fantastic fashion scene here! Vienna is a fashionistas' dream, with beautiful boutiques lining every street, filled with gorgeous dresses, shoes, hats, and accessories. It’s hard to resist, and it was there that I fell head over heels in love with a new vintage ballet skirt that I will, of course, pair with my Vienna Waltz tutus.

Now, some of you are wondering how a pink tutu-loving girl like me is able to fund her global ballet adventures. It's simple really: it’s all about a little ingenuity and a lot of passion. Besides ballet lessons, I often perform at theatres and other venues, using the magic of my pink tutu to entertain people of all ages. My signature “pink tutu routine”, with all its grace, drama, and just a touch of fun, is a crowd favourite and has brought me to some amazing places across the globe. It truly is the perfect way to combine my love for ballet and my desire to spread the pink tutu message.

Oh, and before I forget, today's a big day. It's the day that I'll finally take my tutu-loving adventure to another magical level - I’ll be travelling on the most charming horse-drawn carriage! It’s going to be a trip back in time, perfect for a ballerina girl like me. I'll be sure to update you on all the lovely details, and maybe even snap a few pictures with the adorable horse!

Right, now I must go, a very exciting day awaits. I have to try out my new pink tutu, make a stop at that delicious cafe with its mouth-watering pastries, and plan out my day to get a glimpse of the most fabulous fashion in the heart of Vienna. Stay tuned, darling. My Pink Tutu Vienna adventures continue.

Until next Wednesday,

Emma xo
