Vienna, Oh Vienna! My Pink Tutu Adventure (Post #522)

Dearest readers,

It’s Wednesday, the day you know what that means! Time for another exciting adventure from your favourite pink tutu-clad travel blogger! I’m writing to you from a charming little cafe in Vienna, the city of waltzes and culture, and oh my, it’s absolutely delightful!

A Whirlwind of Trains and Dreams

My journey to Vienna was a classic Emma Pink-Tutu affair, a blend of whimsical train travel and pure joy. After a delicious Derbyshire breakfast (bacon, sausages, black pudding – it’s always good to start your day with a full English!), I embarked on my grand adventure. There was a light dusting of snow on the Derbyshire hills that morning, reminding me of the ballet Snow White – a ballet which I performed in many times throughout my dance training years in London. The white blanket contrasted so beautifully against the backdrop of the rolling hills and farmland. It gave me such a lovely, peaceful feeling; an excitement about travelling which was tinged with an essence of childlike joy.

Now, let’s be honest, a train journey with a pink tutu in tow can be a sight to behold, but the staff on the train were just wonderful! So friendly and understanding. It’s amazing how people are drawn to a splash of pink! The kids were delighted by the tutu, and the adults often gave me smiles and curious glances.

Vienna was waiting! Stepping off the train, the city embraced me with its cobbled streets and the enchanting aroma of coffee and pastries. I was met by my charming friend Anna, an opera singer, with her beautiful husky vocals. I love travelling with Anna as she is also passionate about dance and culture! She knew just the right places to take me, from the grand opera houses to the enchanting little alleyways brimming with boutiques filled with stunning handmade tutus and leotards! I practically had to drag Anna out of a stunning pink tulle boutique – the most amazing creation!

A Ballet Love Affair

My first stop in Vienna? The glorious Vienna State Opera. They were performing Mozart's Don Giovanni! As a classically-trained ballerina, my heart just flutters at the sheer artistry and elegance of ballet. There’s something truly magical about a ballet show that transports you to another world – a world of grace, precision and pure emotion.

After the opera, Anna treated me to an exquisite Viennese coffee. There’s just something about the way the Europeans make their coffee; it has such a rich, bold, luxurious taste! It paired beautifully with a slice of decadent Sachertorte – I indulged in the best chocolatey heaven I had ever tasted!

Speaking of sweets, my readers, have I told you about my sweet tooth? (A cheeky wink!) It’s something else, a delicious adventure in itself. I'm on the lookout for the perfect Austrian dessert, one that'll make its way to my “Emma Pink Tutu Approved” dessert list. Keep an eye out on my Instagram for my delicious finds – you might just spot a cheeky pink tutu picture in the background!

A Glimpse into Vienna's Ballet Heritage

But, my travels are more than just delicious treats and lovely sights – it’s also about delving into the history and the stories that make a place come alive. Today, I'm on a mission to discover Vienna’s rich ballet history, from its very first ballets in the 17th century to the glorious present day. My trusty guide book in hand (and a new pair of comfy pink ballet shoes, of course!), I plan to visit the Hofburg Palace, a historical ballet haven that’s bound to take me on a delightful historical journey. I love that each building tells a story, and every step you take is an exploration of its past.

The Pink Tutu's Adventures

This week's post is a bit different from usual, my lovelies. It's a short, light-hearted blog. But do worry, next week's blog post will be a longer one – you all deserve a juicy blog to look forward to, my readers!

I know that I say it every week, but I truly feel so very lucky to travel the world doing what I love, wearing pink tutus and spreading a little joy with each dance step and every blog post! Don’t forget, my dear friends, you don't have to wear a pink tutu to see the world – although, I highly recommend it. 😉 The world is your dance floor, go out there and twirl with confidence!

See you next Wednesday, Emma Pink Tutu.
