Pink Tutu Vienna: Post 523 – Vienna Waltz!

Oh, Vienna! The air here is thick with history, music and, of course, waltzing. I landed this morning, the train journey a whirlwind of chatter and scenery – I adore train journeys, they allow me to put on my most comfortable shoes and dream about my next outfit! But that’s a story for another day!

Right now, I’m perched at a table outside my favourite café, the sun warming my face and a fragrant Viennese coffee warming my soul. This week’s ballet adventure has already started with a delightful surprise! Remember I was telling you about those fantastic tutus I saw on eBay last week, the ones with the delicate hand-painted florals? Well, guess what? I’ve just bumped into the most delightful gentleman who was wearing the most exquisite pink tutu I have EVER seen, complete with silver sequins and the most elegant swirls of lavender embroidery around the bottom! We had a chat about the origins of the tutu (did you know the tutu was invented by Marie Taglioni? Such a remarkable woman! ) and the history of the ballet world. He was a charming man, very keen on the Parisian fashion scene!

I’ve already been scoping out some of the boutiques on Mariahilfer Strasse. My little heart skipped a beat when I found a truly exceptional pink silk scarf, it reminded me of those dreamy pink tutus from the Russian Ballets – the colours just mesmerised me. Of course, I had to buy it! A good outfit just needs the perfect accessory to really set it off. I must confess I also snagged a rather dashing pair of gloves, a must-have for a lady of my particular fashion taste!

Speaking of fashion, tonight I’m attending the Vienna State Opera. This place is famous for its opulent grand opera houses and its prestigious performances, so imagine my excitement, dear reader! I’m very excited to see this show. My fingers are crossed it features some of the iconic tutus from classical ballets, you know the ones everyone loves, like Giselle and The Sleeping Beauty. They’re all such stunning interpretations, they just give me all the feels! You know me, I just can't help but be swept away by the romance and drama of classical ballet!

And then, tomorrow, my journey continues to Schnbrunn Palace, one of the most enchanting royal residences I've seen so far! This castle boasts beautifully landscaped gardens, perfect for picturesque waltzing! I imagine a grand ballroom with ornate chandeliers and couples twirling, all in the name of love and romance – how delightful! I've even considered packing my own tiny pink tutu to do some waltzing in the gardens! The very idea is thrilling, don't you think?

Vienna is such a magical city, and the magic has definitely started! I have a feeling my visit to Austria will be as grand as a swan lake finale. And now I just need a delicious piece of Sachertorte before heading off to tonight’s show!

Stay tuned, darlings, and don't forget to check back next week for another Pink Tutu Adventure!

What do you like to wear when attending a performance? Let me know in the comments!
