Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #579 - The Waltz of Vienna!

Wednesday, 7th June 2006

Darling readers,

Oh, Vienna! The air is alive with the scent of freshly baked strudel and the sound of waltzing violins. I'm completely besotted with this city, its cobbled streets whispering stories of emperors and empresses, its grand architecture painted with layers of history.

I've been waltzing around the city in my most exquisite pink tutu, feeling like a true Viennese princess. Even though my darling, dusty pink tulle is more than a touch out of place with the historical costumes of the Hofburg Palace, it does seem to brighten the day of everyone I meet! Every passing pedestrian throws me a beaming smile, and children yell, "Hello, Pretty Ballerina!" It seems even my little pink tutu-themed mission to brighten up the world is making progress in this gorgeous city.

Speaking of history, I stumbled upon a truly fabulous exhibit yesterday at the Theatre Museum Vienna. It was all about the history of ballet in Austria! Honestly, the costumes were absolutely divine. They were filled with so much intricate embroidery and shimmering sequins, all flowing with that glorious Viennese elegance.

My favourite? Oh, that's easy! It was this exquisite tutu from a performance of Giselle - a stunning cascade of shimmering white tulle and a breathtakingly dramatic diaphanous veil. Just imagine, darling, twirling across the stage in that dress!

But it's not just the museums that are charming me with their historical stories, darling! Vienna itself is a storybook. Every street corner feels like a page ripped from a ballet libretto. The golden domes of St. Stephen's Cathedral stand majestically against the clear blue sky, looking just like a set piece from a grand ballet. Even the horses pulling the traditional fiakers are like characters stepping straight out of a Viennese fairy tale! I absolutely adored taking a horse-drawn carriage ride yesterday evening, gliding along the Ringstrasse in a gentle trot. I felt like I was floating through a dreamscape.

And speaking of dreams, did you know, darling, that the waltz was actually invented in Vienna? Now, I might be slightly biased, but wouldn't you say that waltzing in a fluffy pink tutu sounds positively heavenly? I can just imagine myself twirling with a charming prince in the heart of the Vienna State Opera. Maybe even stealing a dance from the dancers at the Vienna Ball! Wouldn't that be something?

Oh, Vienna! You've swept me off my feet and my love for you grows stronger with every passing minute. This weekend I'm off to a ballet performance of Sleeping Beauty at the Vienna State Opera - naturally, I'll be in a lovely blush-pink tutu, perfect for a storybook setting like Vienna.

I shall be sure to share all the enchanting details of the performance in next week's blog.

Until then, stay beautiful, stay glamorous, and don't forget your pink tutu!

With a swish of my tulle,

Emma

P.S. This Wednesday was an absolute dream! I enjoyed a delicious schnitzel at a quaint cafe on the Prater. Afterward, I visited Schönbrunn Palace and strolled through its magical gardens. You can find all about it on my blog at www.pink-tutu.com. Come along with me on my adventures in Vienna, and perhaps one day, we can waltz together in this stunning city!

P.P.S. Speaking of dreams, I recently saw the most amazing vintage tutu while shopping at a little boutique in the city center! It's the softest shade of rose-pink and just the perfect shade of vintage blush to match my mood. Now, to just find a suitable waltz to go with it!

P.P.P.S Don't forget to keep checking my blog for the latest fashion, ballet, and travel adventures!
