Vienna: A City of Waltz and Whimsy! 🩰🌸

Hello my darling darlings! It's your favourite tutu-wearing travel bunny Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to Vienna! 💖

This is blog post number 698 (yes, you heard right, 698! Time flies when you're twirling!) and I'm just bubbling over with excitement about this wonderful city. As you know, I always post my travel blog every Wednesday to www.pink-tutu.com.

You wouldn't believe the adventure I had! I managed to squeeze in three incredible ballet performances, two delightful afternoons at the Vienna State Opera, and even found time to discover a secret shop filled with the most fabulous vintage tutus. All that before I found the time to waltz across a traditional Viennese ballroom in my own very pink tutu. It was pure magic! ✨

Vienna was, as they say, "a dream come true" - and trust me, it’s even more enchanting than I could ever have imagined! I just had to share my experiences with you all!

A Whirlwind of Dance and Elegance! 🩰✨

It’s funny, I often find that when I travel, I always find myself in some amazing ballet production or performance, which of course I'm drawn to like a moth to a flame! I am absolutely devoted to the history of dance and how that history reflects itself in today's modern fashion!

I actually made it to Vienna on the most fabulous journey; a 10-hour journey by train across Europe. It's truly my favourite mode of travel. As soon as I'm on that train I'm whisked away to a magical land where time takes on a completely different meaning, a place filled with romance, nostalgia and endless possibilities. 💖

Upon my arrival in Vienna, I couldn't wait to check in and change into my signature pink tutu for my very first ballet performance. Imagine this: A magnificent 18th century building with soaring columns, an air of old-world glamour, and the sweetest tinkling sound of the most beautiful orchestra in the world. I was sitting just feet away from the stage, and when the music began and the curtain rose, the sheer power of the performance filled me with such an exhilarating emotion. It's an emotion I can only compare to falling in love, except a hundred times more intense! It just washed over me in a wave of sheer artistic beauty, and as a dancer myself I felt a familiar twinge of nostalgia for the joy of being onstage. The artistry of each step and move just completely enchanted me and transported me into another dimension.

The ballerina performing the role of Odette, the beautiful white swan in the tragic love story of “Swan Lake,” just radiated grace and vulnerability, which really spoke to my heart. The whole performance had such an extraordinary quality and I truly felt an overwhelming sense of awe as the swans performed their ballet. Every gesture, every move was a symphony of emotion - such pure poetry in motion.

For the rest of my time in Vienna, I attended the Vienna State Opera almost every day to see the breathtaking ballets like The Nutcracker and Giselle. Each one was an absolute feast for the eyes!

Tutu Treasures and Vintage Delights! 💖

No trip to Vienna would be complete without a little fashion fix! I stumbled upon the most adorable vintage shop just off the beaten track – "Le Petit Tutu.” I’m telling you, the selection was phenomenal, featuring all manner of beautiful vintage tutus from the Victorian era onwards. It was a ballerina’s dream! And I simply couldn’t resist snagging a few vintage treasures for my collection! A stunning lavender-hued tutu adorned with delicate beading (perfectly capturing that late 19th century aesthetic), and a dramatic, sweeping black tutu – a true ballerina show-stopper!

I think they’ll make great additions to my current tutu collection! Speaking of my tutu collection, let me know if any of you lovelies want any tips on starting a vintage tutu collection. You wouldn’t believe some of the absolute gems I have discovered over the years – especially since my Derbyshire origins make vintage clothing and tutu shopping very close to my heart!

Waltzing in the Viennese Night! 💃🥂

One of the absolute highlights of my trip was an evening spent in a traditional Viennese ballroom. They have the most elegant dancing, all twirls and curtsies. As you can imagine, it was pure delight for me to take to the dance floor in my bright pink tutu!

As I spun through the night, the warm glow of the ballroom chandelier cast magical patterns over my tutu, making it shine like a star! All the guests were utterly mesmerized by my unique sartorial choice. (I love being the pink tutu pioneer!) Everyone complimented my look, telling me how beautifully my vibrant pink complemented the elegance of the space.

And, honestly, my heart couldn’t have been happier. I just adore being the centre of attention, and feeling confident in my own skin and own unique style, which makes the pink tutu, even more important, and makes being a style icon my mission! 💕

My Final Farewell to Vienna 🎻

Vienna was such an inspiring experience that I could stay here forever! However, all good things must come to an end, and after a lovely train journey (with another incredible view over Europe!) it was time to return home to England. As my train left the station, I waved goodbye to the city of music and waltzing, and all of the extraordinary memories that will forever remain close to my heart.

Until next time Vienna! Perhaps I will visit you during your beautiful spring. Until then, darling readers, keep spreading those pink tutu vibes! And stay tuned for my next adventures – I'll be sharing all the exciting details with you soon!

Always keep your heads high, and remember - even a queen can have a wardrobe malfunction! 😂

Yours always, Emma 💖
