Vienna Calling! A Tutu-filled Adventure in the City of Waltz #699

Hello, darlings! It's Emma from the Pink Tutu, reporting live from the glorious city of Vienna! I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be here, twirling amongst the grand palaces, listening to the music of Mozart, and taking in the magic of this beautiful place.

It's been a whirlwind journey getting here. A long, comfortable train ride from Derbyshire, with views that unfolded like a storybook, followed by a charming horse-drawn carriage ride through the cobbled streets of Vienna. Honestly, it's like I've stepped into one of those classic fairy tale movies - a story I feel like I'm a part of!

You know me, darlings - I wouldn't travel without a show-stopping ensemble. For this trip, it had to be a soft, blush-pink tulle tutu with layers upon layers of frills! And, of course, I accessorized with a feather boa that swayed with every step, a pair of sparkling ballerina shoes, and a dainty straw hat adorned with a single pink rose. It was a real "Emma-in-Vienna" moment!

A Whirlwind of Ballet!

Vienna has such a strong connection to the world of ballet - the Viennese waltz, the iconic ballet companies, the beautifully preserved opera houses... it's a ballerina's dream! I was completely overwhelmed with the excitement. My first stop had to be the Vienna State Opera, one of the most renowned opera houses in the world.

The building itself is stunning - majestic columns, gold leaf detailing, and a red carpet leading to the entrance. And inside, I was transported to a world of glittering chandeliers, plush red velvet seats, and the soft glow of the stage lights. It was a feast for the senses! I spent hours lost in the history of this remarkable space - discovering stories of famous ballets, dancers, and even tutu designs. The stories were so captivating! It's amazing how history and fashion go hand in hand, like two graceful dancers pirouetting in perfect harmony!

After the opera, I made my way to the Vienna State Ballet School, eager to immerse myself in the energy of the dancers. It was so inspiring! I watched with admiration as the students practised their leaps, pirouettes, and arabesques, with precision and grace. They even let me have a go in their grand, mirrored practice room - a delightful experience! They are incredibly talented, and I know we'll see some of these young ballerinas performing in leading roles one day.

Speaking of performing... I've been so fortunate to be booked at several ballet schools in Vienna to teach tutu workshops! Oh, darlings, the enthusiasm here for tutu-making is simply contagious! The children are so excited to design and create their own colourful tutus, using all sorts of materials - ribbons, feathers, sequins, and even fabrics with whimsical patterns. It's truly been an absolute delight. And, of course, I make sure I demonstrate how to twirl with your newly-crafted tutu. What's the point of creating a tutu, without twirling? 😉

A Tutu-rific Fashion Hunt!

No trip to Vienna would be complete without some indulgent shopping. After all, I wouldn't be true to the "Pink Tutu" name without exploring some delightful stores. From Boutiques in the historic districts of Vienna to the trendy shops along Mariahilfer Strasse, I was mesmerized by the vibrant fashion scene here!

And it goes without saying, my mission was clear: to find the most magnificent pink tutus. I scoured every shop, and I was not disappointed! There were so many choices: pastel pink, shocking pink, fluffy tutus, sparkly tutus, even a shimmering silver tutu with a pink feather trim! It was tutu-tastic!

Of course, I had to get a few treats for myself. Let's just say I came away with a selection of ballet-inspired accessories and outfits. And don't forget the gorgeous vintage tulle skirt I discovered, perfect for adding a touch of ballet flair to my daily looks.

A Night of Enchantment at the Vienna Volksoper

This evening, my dear friends, I am going to experience a truly special performance at the Vienna Volksoper. It's an enchanting, fairytale-themed show. The music is supposed to be divine, the dancing intricate and captivating, and the costumes… well, you can just imagine!

I plan on wearing a delicate, lavender tulle tutu with intricate pearl embellishments - a touch of vintage elegance that I feel will be perfectly in sync with the fairytale theme.

I'll be sure to share all the details with you next Wednesday. And I will be sharing some sneak peeks on our Instagram (@pinktutu.com). So don't forget to check it out!

Until then, stay chic, stay positive, and embrace the tutu-tastic spirit!

Love,

Emma x
