Vienna Waltz - Post Number 709

Hello my darlings, and welcome to my weekly Vienna blog post, here on Pink-Tutu.com. It's Wednesday, the 3rd of December, 2008, and the air in Vienna is crisp and full of the promise of festive cheer! This week has been a whirlwind of pink tulle and waltzing dreams, and I can't wait to share it all with you.

Tutu Time!

Before I even unpack my suitcase, Vienna already feels like the perfect city for pink tutus. The architecture, the cafes, the history - it's all a little bit fairytale, just like my own wardrobe! My travels this time were by train, which always brings out the child in me. Imagine: a long journey filled with cosy blankets, exciting stories, and views of passing scenery. Pure magic, wouldn't you say?

Vienna is bursting with the most gorgeous tutus! Of course, I couldn't resist venturing straight to the Opera Shop for a peek at the divine tutus. A dream in white satin, embroidered with delicate pearl details, stared me straight in the eyes from behind the shop window. I felt myself practically teleport into a Vienna Opera production, swirling through the stage with a hundred other ballerinas.

Speaking of stage productions, a quick trip to the Museum of Performing Arts is a must for anyone who loves the stage, especially if you adore all things tutu! There, amongst antique costumes and glittering stage sets, I found myself completely mesmerized by a vintage 19th-century tutu - a fluffy explosion of layers and bows.

But Vienna has much more to offer than just ballerinas and tutus (though honestly, they are my favourite thing!), this week has been filled with shopping for some spectacular new frocks!

My Vienna Favourites!

My heart is brimming with new fashion discoveries! The city is a veritable fashion haven, with every shop a hidden gem. Here are just a few of my personal favourites:

  • The Fabric District: Oh my, where to begin? It's a symphony of colour, texture, and sheer brilliance. I practically bought everything: silk for my next tutu project, vintage lace for my dream evening gown, and even some delicate beading for my shoes! I've been browsing these streets all week and haven't been disappointed.

  • Mariahilfer StraรŸe: I simply couldn't resist a day at Karstadt Wien and Gerngross (they are practically my neighbours in Derbyshire!). There are so many fun, bold outfits that I found it quite difficult to choose my purchases! (But hey, I'm in Vienna! A few more frocks couldn't hurt!).

  • The Vienna State Opera House: The ultimate in fashion elegance. While it may be intimidating for the casual shopper, a visit is an absolute necessity for the fashionista! The glamour, the artistry, the history... A beautiful venue and it definitely makes one want to waltz the night away!

The Secret to Vienna Style!

You know, the real magic of Vienna is that effortless blend of elegance and whimsical charm. It's a city that celebrates its history without forgetting to have fun, which is pretty much my life philosophy. You can truly embrace the beauty of the city with a touch of pink tutu magic, wouldn't you agree?

For those of you who haven't taken the plunge into the world of pink tutus yet, fear not! Vienna is a haven for the hesitant. With a city full of elegant boutiques, charming antique shops, and a touch of imagination, you can find a tutu (and your personal sense of Parisian chic) without ever feeling like you've left the comfort of Derbyshire behind!

And remember, darling, every woman has a ballerina inside, just waiting to come out! I say, let's take over the world with pink tutus, one twirl at a time!

Stay tuned for my next adventures in Vienna! In the meantime, I'd love to hear your favourite memories from this wonderful city. Until then, I wish you happy twirling!

Yours truly, Emma
