Post 720: Viennese Whirlwinds and Tutu Dreams!
Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, your pink-tutu-clad travel companion, ready to whisk you away to the romantic city of Vienna!
This week, I’ve traded my Derbyshire countryside for a dash of Austrian charm and a whirlwind of culture, shopping, and of course, tutus!
Now, I know what you’re thinking: Vienna, tutus... how does that work? Well, dear readers, it’s quite magical, really! Vienna, with its grand history and beautiful architecture, is simply overflowing with artistic energy. It’s the kind of city that whispers "ballerina" at every corner, just waiting for a touch of pink tulle to complete the picture.
And wouldn't you know it, this week’s ballet programme at the Vienna State Opera is absolutely divine! It's a mixed bill, showcasing the strength and grace of classical ballet in all its glory. I can’t wait to be swept away by the story of "La Bayadère" in all its colourful spectacle, and then see the exquisite beauty of "Giselle" in the delicate, heartfelt choreography. My tutu, of course, will be in attendance - it’s a vibrant blush pink, perfectly complementing the air of romance and wonder. I know you’ll love the pictures!
Oh, and speaking of beauty! My shopping spree this week has been absolutely fabulous. I’ve found a gorgeous silk dress, the colour of a Vienna sunset, perfect for twirling and swirling in. The intricate beadwork reminded me of a glittering stage, and the shop, tucked away in a hidden cobblestone lane, felt like stepping into a storybook. And you know me, a pink-loving ballerina can never say no to a tutu - this time, a sparkling black net that will bring a dash of gothic glamour to my repertoire.
But Vienna is more than just elegant balls and enchanting performances. It’s the little moments that make this city truly special. Sipping coffee on a sunny afternoon, gazing out at the grand architecture, strolling through the vast parklands... and I swear, darling, I saw a horse-drawn carriage carrying a glamorous couple! It’s all so impossibly romantic. I even felt a slight yearning for a grand carriage ride through the city.
Of course, no visit to Vienna would be complete without indulging in a slice of Sacher-Torte. The rich chocolate and apricot jam, a perfect balance of indulgence and refinement, felt just like a grand ballet sequence - a crescendo of flavors with every bite.
It seems Vienna is weaving its spell on me, my dears! As I write this, nestled in a cozy cafe with the scent of freshly baked pastries wafting through the air, I can't help but imagine waltzing across the city in a glorious, twirling tutu!
Don't forget to check in next week for another edition of the #PinkTutuVienna blog! I have so much more to share with you, including a delightful adventure on a vintage train and more glimpses into the world of Viennese ballet.
Until then, keep your twirls fabulous!
Yours in Pink,
Emma xx
