Pink Tutu Vienna: A Waltz Through the City of Dreams - Post #752

Wednesday, 30th September, 2009

Hello, my lovelies! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another fabulous installment of Pink Tutu Vienna! This week, my travels have brought me to the heart of Europe - Vienna, the city of music, culture, andā€¦ well, of course, tutus!

Let's be honest, Vienna and a pink tutu are practically meant to be. From the elegance of the Vienna State Opera to the enchanting waltzes that seem to dance through the very cobblestone streets, this city exudes a kind of romantic, whimsical energy that makes you want to twirl.

But before we get caught up in the magic of Vienna, let me fill you in on the highlights of my journey!

A Train to Remember

After my grand finale performance in London, I bid a fond farewell to the bustling streets of the English capital and hopped onto a charming old train heading for Vienna. Of course, I couldn't travel in anything less than my favourite tulle delight, a blush pink tutu adorned with delicate lace appliquƩs. It matched my vintage pink suitcase perfectly!

The journey was pure delight. The rolling green landscapes, the quaint little towns whizzing by, and the comforting rhythmic clickety-clack of the train all felt like a scene straight out of a fairytale. I even managed to squeeze in a bit of practice, perfecting my fouettƩs in the train's slightly wobbly corridor (shh! don't tell the conductor!).

Vienna - Where the Past Meets the Present

The first thing I noticed when arriving in Vienna was the stunning architecture - these towering, grand buildings, with intricate facades and opulent interiors, seem to whisper stories of emperors and waltzes, of royalty and romance. There's an undeniable sense of history here, which somehow makes you feel like you've travelled back in time. But Vienna is also very much a modern city, buzzing with energy and life, which creates this delightful contrast of the old and the new.

A Tutu's Delight - Shopping in Vienna

Speaking of modern life, Vienna has absolutely fabulous shops. The boutiques along the KƤrntner StraƟe are just brimming with fashion inspiration. Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a tiny shop called ā€œBallerina's Dream.ā€ It was like stepping into a tutu wonderland. Silk, lace, tulle ā€“ every kind of fabric you could dream of, in every colour of the rainbow! It was pure magic.

I couldn't resist a little treat for myself - a sparkling silver tulle tutu adorned with tiny silver sequins. Oh, it was so glamorous! Perfect for my Viennese adventure. And you just know it will look absolutely incredible on stage tonight! I canā€™t wait to showcase it at the theatreā€¦ itā€™s just perfect for Vienna, you see.

Opera and Waltz Dreams - The Heartbeat of Vienna

No trip to Vienna would be complete without a visit to the opera! Last night, I was transported to another world entirely - the opulent grandeur of the Vienna State Opera! Itā€™s been here since 1869 and oh my goodness it's truly a sight to behold, even just from the outside.

The inside, wellā€¦ let's just say it was as grand and glittering as you can imagine. I was simply mesmerized by the intricate decorations, the ornate balconies, the plush velvet seats, the sparkling chandeliers ā€“ it was an incredible fusion of artistic vision and elegant luxury.

Then, the music beganā€¦ the soaring violins, the deep resonance of the cello, and the delicate shimmer of the pianoā€¦ all of it combining to create such a breathtaking musical symphony. I literally felt chills as I watched the graceful ballerinas twirling on stage, their delicate movements evoking emotion, passion, and grace. It was like watching the very spirit of Vienna come alive on stage!

A Little Waltz Lesson - Taking it to the Streets

Since Vienna is renowned for its waltz, I just had to give it a try. Imagine me, pink tutu and all, learning to waltz on the elegant cobblestones of the Stephansplatz. There were a few stumbles, naturally. The waltz is quite tricky, but my lovely dance teacher, Herr Schmidt, was incredibly patient, encouraging, and sweet.

Turns out, my ballet background actually helped a great deal! The grace and posture Iā€™d learned in ballet class actually translated remarkably well to waltzing. Of course, a dash of pink tulle never hurts.

Herr Schmidt is planning on giving me some private lessons while I'm in Vienna! He wants to teach me all about the intricate steps of the waltz and maybe even about some traditional Viennese folk dances. Iā€™m sure he will love seeing me in a pink tutu, he loves to see people express themselves!

Pink Tutu Goals - Waltzing in Vienna

Speaking of expressions, I can't wait to share a photo of me waltzing in Vienna, wearing a gorgeous pink tutu! It will be my very special way of expressing my love for this enchanting city, a city that seems to embrace elegance and beauty with a passion that only adds to its already captivating charm. And it will be a reminder of how magical it is to follow your dreams, just like I'm doing, travelling to extraordinary places in my beloved tutu!

Let's be honest, life is so much more fun with a little pink tutu in it, isnā€™t it? Who knows, maybe I'll even find a handsome Austrian prince while I'm here? šŸ˜‰

And with that, my dearest lovelies, I shall take my leave! Join me next Wednesday, for more adventures in the city of dreams ā€“ Vienna, of course!

Until then, keep waltzing, keep smiling, and above allā€¦ don't be afraid to wear a pink tutu! šŸ’–

Yours always,

Emma
