Vienna Calling: Waltz in a Pink Tutu!

Guten tag, my dearest Pink Tutu readers! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another dose of fabulousness straight from the heart of Vienna, Austria. And guess what? I'm in a pink tutu, naturally.

This week has been a whirlwind of waltzing, wiener schnitzels and whimsical shopping, all in the most beautiful, majestic city in Europe. Seriously, folks, Vienna is like a fairytale. Every cobbled street, every grand building, every park...it's all just stunning!

From Derbyshire to the Danube: The Journey Begins

This trip was a dream come true. Imagine, leaving the rolling hills of Derbyshire and hopping onto a grand train carriage to head to Vienna! I even got to travel by horse and carriage around the city, something I'd only ever dreamed of doing. And to think, it all started with a phone call from my dear friend, Helga. Helga's a fellow tutu enthusiast, and she's lived here in Vienna for years. She promised me an unforgettable experience and boy, did she deliver!

Tutu Time at the Vienna State Opera

Now, you know I can't resist a good ballet show. And this city has a vibrant, thriving ballet scene! So naturally, on our first night, we headed straight for the Vienna State Opera House, which was like stepping back in time with its incredible architecture and plush velvet seats. We were watching "Giselle", and let me tell you, it was pure magic! The dancers were sublime, the costumes were gorgeous, and the whole experience was just breathtaking.

A Waltz in a Pink Tutu:

Of course, I couldn't resist the temptation to waltz around the city's grand halls in my signature pink tutu. Helga laughed and said I looked like a ballerina who'd stepped straight out of a fairytale, which I thought was rather charming! There's something about Vienna that just makes you feel like twirling. Maybe it's the gorgeous architecture, the graceful music or just the sheer magic of the place, but wherever you go in this city, you can't help but want to move gracefully.

Shopping Spree!

Of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without a bit of retail therapy. The shopping here is divine. I found a fabulous vintage boutique that was overflowing with delicate silk scarves, vintage hats and beautiful costume jewellery. I even snagged a pair of ruby red pumps that I just had to have! They go perfectly with my pink tutu, of course!

A Culinary Delight:

No mention of Vienna would be complete without talking about the food. We indulged in mouthwatering Wiener Schnitzel, creamy Sachertorte, and even had a spot of strudel while enjoying the views of the city from a charming coffee shop. Vienna, I love your food as much as I love your waltzes and your history!

Tutu Tales and Ballet History

Vienna is bursting with ballet history. It was here that ballet superstar, Rudolf Nureyev, once performed, and it's been a hub for balletic artistry for centuries. This week, I learned all about the legendary ballerina, Anna Pavlova, who performed at the Vienna State Opera and enthralled audiences with her elegance and grace. It's an inspiring reminder that the beauty of ballet has endured through the ages, inspiring countless others to dance.

A City That Wears a Pink Tutu?

And while it might be hard to get the entire city to adopt a pink tutu, I certainly feel like I'm leading by example! I can already feel the spirit of ballet and pinkness pervading Vienna, a delightful combination indeed!

That’s all from Vienna, folks! Tune in next week for more delightful escapades as we continue to explore this beautiful city! Remember to visit my website, www.pink-tutu.com, and don’t forget to wear your pink tutu!

Yours in tutus and waltzes, Emma xx
