Wednesday 28th October, 2009
Good Morning, my darlings!
It’s me, Emma, from www.pink-tutu.com, bringing you my weekly dose of pink perfection, straight from the enchanting city of Vienna!
Now, where to even begin? This city, with its elegant architecture, rich history, and charming cobblestone streets, is practically tailor-made for a tutu-loving ballerina like myself. Just the other day, I found myself twirling on the steps of the majestic Schönbrunn Palace, its grand facades mirroring the exquisite designs of my own pink tulle skirts!
Let’s face it, Vienna is an absolute feast for the eyes. Imagine the scene, if you will: sun-kissed leaves, autumnal colours in full glory, and me, whizzing past in my signature pink tutu, catching the light like a shimmering dream. I mean, what else would a girl do in a place that feels like a ballet stage waiting for its spotlight?
Speaking of spotlights, I had the most wonderful experience at the Vienna State Opera House on Sunday. Oh my, darling! The ballet was pure magic. They performed Giselle, and I’m not sure my heart will ever stop beating quite as fast again! From the moment the orchestra played the opening bars, I was swept away by the artistry and passion on stage.
And let’s not forget the fashion! The costumes, oh, the costumes! Those layers and layers of tulle and silk, the exquisite craftsmanship – it’s no wonder that the Viennese are so famous for their sense of style. They certainly know how to make an entrance, just like the elegant ballerinas that graced the stage that evening.
Ballet and travel – my perfect blend. And, thankfully, these two loves allow me to make my dream life a reality. Performing with my Derbyshire ballet troupe means I get to fund my travels, exploring the world and inspiring people along the way! After all, everyone can embrace a bit of pink magic, wouldn't you agree?
This week in Vienna, I've been busy:
- Exploring the historical centre: My morning stroll through the heart of Vienna led me to the iconic Stephansdom, a towering gothic masterpiece that almost felt like it was twirling with me. I loved snapping pictures of its beautiful details - perfect for my PinkTutuVienna blog, of course!
- Savouring the Viennese delights: You can’t go to Vienna without trying their famous Viennese Coffee and Sachertorte. So, I did just that - afternoon tea in a charming cafe while writing this post, with the tastiest treat I could imagine. What's better than cake? A pink tutu AND cake, of course!
- Discovering hidden gems: One of my favourite activities is meandering down hidden side streets, finding beautiful boutiques, artisan workshops, and those charming little cafes that seem straight out of a fairytale. The other day, I discovered a delightful antique shop, bursting with treasures from another era – including the most exquisite vintage hat you’ve ever seen (just begging for a pink tutu and a bold lipstick, naturally!).
But it’s not just the city’s beauty that enchants me. It’s the people! Everyone is so welcoming, with such a love of art, music, and – you guessed it - pink tutus! I must say, I’ve been spotted wearing my custom-made pink tulle skirts on public transport more than once this week (don’t worry, they always coordinate beautifully with the outfit!)
Of course, there's also a special charm in finding like-minded souls – fellow ballet enthusiasts who just get my love for this magical art form. And I think, deep down, most people are yearning for a little sparkle in their lives.
My mission, as I see it, is to share that sparkle. And what better way to spread joy than by inspiring people to embrace their inner ballerina? After all, you never know who you might inspire to twirl their own way through life. Who knows, maybe the next big ballet superstar will be inspired by PinkTutuVienna!
As you know, Vienna has a rich history of ballet, and I've been exploring some of its iconic theaters and performance venues. I can't wait to see what future shows are coming up and tell you all about them here!
Well, darlings, it’s time to say adieu for now, but I'll be back next week, bringing you even more pink adventures from beautiful Vienna. Remember, never be afraid to embrace your inner ballerina, and don’t forget to follow me on PinkTutuVienna on Instagram! I can’t wait to see you next Wednesday!
XOXO, Emma
