Pink Tutu Vienna: #807 - A Viennese Waltz of Pink & Poise! 🩰🇦🇹

Hello my darling darlings! It’s Emma here, and it’s Wednesday, so you know what that means? Time for another delightful dive into the wonderful world of pink tutus, and this week, it’s all about Vienna, darling Vienna! 💖

Vienna. Oh, Vienna! A city of waltzes, strudel, and imperial grandeur. You know, it's absolutely thrilling to be here, soaking in the culture and history. And yes, you guessed it, even Vienna is getting a dose of pink tutu magic! 🤫

This week has been an absolute whirlwind, filled with waltzes, waltzes, and more waltzes! 💃 Honestly, Vienna feels like it’s been dipped in glitter, spun around, and served with a side of strudel. Every corner you turn, there's history, romance, and, of course, more delicious cakes than you can shake a feather boa at! 😉

Train Travel Tales

I arrived in Vienna on the overnight train from Munich, a journey that always reminds me of the classic European fairy tales. I don't know about you darlings, but a train journey is practically a must when travelling in Europe, especially when you can get lost in a good book and a spot of people watching. Speaking of watching, the train station here is beautiful, an architectural masterpiece - almost worthy of a tutus photoshoot itself!

A Pink Tutu Makes its Viennese Debut

Once I got settled in my delightful Viennese apartment (a very pink and very chic affair!), it was time for some Viennese adventures! I’m already starting to see my way around this gorgeous city and let me tell you, the people of Vienna are quite welcoming!

The streets are cobblestone, filled with cafes, charming boutiques, and people dressed so chic, I want to buy their entire wardrobes! Speaking of chic, I was feeling quite the fashionable trendsetter while I strolled around the city today! It seemed everyone was loving my signature pink tutu, paired with a stylish black coat. The Viennese ladies just can't get enough! 😉

Viennese Waltz & Ballet

This week, darling, the city has been pulsating with a passion for the waltz, and guess who’s ready to get involved?! Of course, yours truly, the pink tutu ambassador of waltz-tastic adventures!

First up on the schedule was a visit to the stunning Vienna State Opera. The grandeur of the place is simply breathtaking, with opulent décor, velvet seats, and a sense of timeless elegance that just begs to be experienced. Oh, the grandeur of it all! The opera I saw this week was a modern interpretation of Strauss's “Die Fledermaus,” a fun and frisky ballet about a ball that spins everyone off in different directions. The costumes were amazing, a fabulous mix of modern and traditional - almost good enough to rival a pink tutu!

An Ode to Imperial Pinkness

As a tutu aficionado, you know how much I love to dive deep into fashion history. So, of course, I'm on a mission to explore the historical influences behind Viennese fashion. And who could have foreseen this… Pink, darling, it’s the ultimate imperial colour in Vienna!

You see, pink wasn’t just a popular shade, it was the shade favoured by the Habsburg royalty throughout the centuries. They used it everywhere, from the drapes to the china to the beautiful tapestries adorning their grand palaces. In fact, many of Vienna's iconic buildings, like the Schönbrunn Palace, are decorated with pink accents, reminding everyone of their opulent past. How much more fun does it make my love for pink?

And it gets better! You'll find hints of pink everywhere you look. The architecture itself has its pink influences, just look at the charming pink houses scattered through the streets, each one a testament to the past, and all the better with a little bit of pink. You see darling, it seems, in a city where waltzing is practically a national pastime, pink seems to have had a similar staying power! It's divine!

A Pink Tutu's Shopping Spree

But darling, no trip to Vienna is complete without a little indulgence, and this city's shopping scene is everything. So naturally, I had to get my tutu-tastic hands on a few Viennese treats!

From designer boutiques showcasing the latest fashions, to quaint vintage shops overflowing with unique treasures, Vienna truly offers something for everyone! It's the perfect place to indulge in a little retail therapy, even if that just means popping into a gorgeous tea shop with a deliciously ornate pink cake. I particularly love the tiny, family-owned boutiques hidden down cobbled streets. That’s where you truly find unique treasures, darling. My suitcase is practically bursting with exquisite finds, like an antique mirror for my Parisian apartment, a collection of antique ballet posters, and of course, a little pink velvet tutu hat - you just never know when a hat is needed, right?

Ballet Lessons

Being in a city famous for its waltz and dance traditions, how could I resist some serious Viennese dancing lessons?! It wouldn't be a proper Vienna experience without them, wouldn't it darling?

I signed up for a private waltz class at the oldest dance studio in Vienna, which was nestled in the most charming courtyard! Honestly, the entire atmosphere was a pure delight. We danced with such grace and style, making every turn feel effortless - almost like waltzing through clouds! Honestly, the Vienna Waltz makes every turn so special and full of grace. If there's ever a time for tutus and fancy footwork, Vienna is definitely the place to be!

A Little Viennese History

Of course, darling, any trip wouldn't be complete without a little dose of history. So today, I ventured to the grand Schönbrunn Palace! Its beautiful gardens were overflowing with colour, a fairytale backdrop, honestly! You know, the history here is practically overflowing - you can sense it around every corner. It was so incredible to wander through the grand halls and rooms, feeling the echoes of a time when Empress Maria Theresa and Mozart themselves walked these floors. How much I would have loved to meet Mozart and waltzed with him! But perhaps you know, a little waltz with him can always be dreamt of, right? 😉

Farewell From Vienna

But, as you know, my darling darlings, time marches on, and Vienna, I have to bid you farewell for now! (Honestly, you should know, that’s practically all I've said this week).

My heart is already filled with fond memories of the elegant city, from the enchanting melodies of the waltz, the charming, cobblestone streets and the exquisite shops filled with little treasures, to the historical grandeur that permeates every corner of this magnificent city. And of course, I’ll never forget the smiles, and the warmth of the people. A truly wonderful experience, darling.

As I catch my next train, I’ll be humming a little Viennese melody and thinking of my next exciting adventure. Until next time darling darlings, keep twirling, keep spreading your pink tutu magic, and don't forget - there's always room in the world for a little bit more pink! 😘

Yours in pink,

Emma
