Pink Tutu Vienna: #927 - Waltz into Wonderland

Hello lovelies!

It's Wednesday, so you know what that means...it's time for another Pink Tutu Vienna blog post! This week I've been waltzing my way through the beautiful city of Vienna, feeling utterly inspired by the music, the architecture, and the sheer elegance of this majestic city. I can't believe I've only been here for a few days, I've already fallen completely head over heels (and I mean, who wouldn't with those incredible shoes!).

Before I launch into the delightful details of my Viennese adventures, I just have to let you all know how utterly thrilling it is to be posting from the beautiful heart of Europe. As you all know, I love nothing more than discovering new places and new cultures - and, of course, spreading the gospel of pink tutus! Vienna is truly a city that has captured my imagination and, like my tutus, seems to whisper the sweet nothings of history and grace to my soul.

A City that Dances

The streets of Vienna seem to practically hum with music. It’s a city that dances – both literally and figuratively. Of course, no trip to Vienna could be complete without indulging in a bit of Viennese ballet. This week I’ve already had the absolute pleasure of seeing a stunning performance at the Vienna State Opera. The dancers were breathtaking, the costumes were a sight to behold, and the sheer scale of the whole experience was positively thrilling. My pink tutu just knew to blend seamlessly with the pink velvet seats!

Speaking of costumes and dancing, Vienna has an incredible collection of tutu history – just waiting to be discovered. The Theater Museum is a must-visit for anyone, not just ballet fanatics like myself, who is even slightly interested in the world of costumes, and it truly gives a unique insight into the historical journey of ballet. And guess what I discovered there – you guessed it, a Pink Tutu!!! Oh the sheer excitement! It had such lovely layers, a bit like my own pink fluffy tulle skirt. Imagine all the amazing places it’s seen – so much history wrapped up in one little pink dress!

A Love Story in Each Shop

Now, as for my favorite kind of history…the history of fashion! Vienna is absolutely chock-a-block full of stunning shops. Each one a beautiful and charming window display waiting to tempt and enchant. You can see why the waltz became the national dance! Every time I enter one of these beautifully-stocked shops I find myself waltzing around between the racks, imagining myself wearing everything! My current favourite spot has been the lovely little boutique around the corner from the opera house. They have the most delightful pink accessories and the loveliest satin blouses – which naturally, I had to pair with my tutu! You can't go to Vienna and not bring home a piece of Viennese charm – and by charming, I naturally mean a little pink tulle something or other.

I can't forget to mention how absolutely divine it's been to spend my time in Vienna eating at charming cafees (because where else can you find a place with such adorable cakes and Viennese chocolate? ), and I've fallen completely in love with the Viennese horses and carriages. The other day I went for a lovely horse drawn ride through the city. Of course, no trip in Vienna is complete without at least one of those.

A Travel Blog…Naturally!

Now, before I sign off and go dance in a Pink Tutu through the Vienna streets (because who knows where the music will take me? ), I need to share with you a little bit about the practical side of my travels – because even the most whimsical travel should be sensible at times (just like the pink tutus I collect!).

I’ve found the Austrian railways to be an absolutely fabulous way of seeing this amazing country, and, as you all know, I’m a HUGE fan of trains (as any lover of tutus knows – the trains always get you there! ). The journeys themselves are beautiful and scenic, the trains are modern and comfortable and (even better) – they usually have an on-board shop where you can pick up your favourite travel essentials – (did you guess?) of course that includes Pink Tutus, (well, if I say it loudly enough, maybe it will be true… one day!).

You might wonder how a little girl from Derbyshire, England can manage to fund all these amazing travels with a ballet passion – well it doesn’t take a magic carpet to make this happen ! As long as I have my pink tutu on and the music playing, it’s magic enough for me. I travel using my ballet performances (with a little bit of pink tulle magic) – so basically I have the ballet world as my stage ! The beautiful pink tutu, my performance (and of course a little bit of pink tulle magic…) have been the ticket to these beautiful travels.

You'll have to read my next post next week, my darlings – because I just have to tell you all about the Viennese chocolate, ( Oh the temptation! It might be enough to send you into a spin... ). Until next week!

Always Remember: Spread the pink tutu love wherever you go! And be happy!

Love,

Emma xx
