Pink Tutu Vienna: Post Number 945: Vienna Whirl

Hello my darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another dose of Pink Tutu Vienna! I'm writing to you from a sunny cafe in Vienna, with the scent of fresh pastries swirling around me. It's the most glorious day - a symphony of sunshine, birdsong, and of course, the enchanting backdrop of the Viennese cityscape. And wouldn't you know it, I'm wearing my hot pink tulle tutu! It's just so wonderfully whimsical, perfectly embodying the light-hearted joy that this city evokes.

Vienna has a unique energy. The architecture is regal, the streets are alive with music and laughter, and the history... oh, the history is practically dripping from every cobblestone. I can't help but imagine the waltz waltzing through the streets, with ladies in their finest ball gowns and gentlemen in dashing uniforms.

Today, however, my journey is much more pedestrian. Iā€™m having breakfast - a fluffy croissant with rich coffee, accompanied by a side of heavenly marzipan - and planning my day. Today's itinerary is a blend of cultural indulgence and pure indulgence! Itā€™s all about experiencing the beauty Vienna offers.

Morning: After my delicious breakfast, it's time to immerse myself in the world of Viennaā€™s Imperial ballet! Iā€™m venturing to the Vienna State Opera, which Iā€™ve heard boasts a magnificent ballet company. I can't wait to experience the grandeur of this legendary institution! They have a performance of Giselle on today, and I've always loved the tragic story of a young womanā€™s love and heartbreak. Of course, my tutu is going to match perfectly with the pink-hued, light-as-air, tulle-clad ballerina costumes - I might just stand out in a crowd of traditional gowns, though.

Lunchtime: I plan on indulging in some local delights, likely something delectable from the Naschmarkt, Vienna's famous food market. My nose tells me I must sample some Viennese sausages. My fingers are crossed that they come with pink sauce!

Afternoon: The afternoon is reserved for a touch of fashion escapism. I'm going to dive into the world of Vienna's gorgeous boutiques, hunting for some statement pieces to complement my pink tutus! Perhaps I'll even treat myself to a lovely piece of Viennese jewelry - perhaps a pink crystal pendant?

Evening: Iā€™ll wrap up the day with the Viennese highlight of my week - attending the Vienna State Opera House once more! Tonightā€™s ballet performance is ā€œSleeping Beauty.ā€ I love the fairy-tale themes and exquisite costumes, and canā€™t wait to experience them in all their grandeur.

The Ballet Whisper:

Speaking of ballet, letā€™s take a moment to explore some tutu history! Did you know that tutus as we know them weren't always so elaborate? In the early days of ballet, the ballerinas actually wore a very modest garment known as the jupe. It wasnā€™t until the Romantic era, about the 1840s, that Marie Taglioni (whose mother was a Parisian seamstress!), introduced the billowing, flowing tulle tutu. Talk about a revolutionary change in costume! The lightweight, fluffy tutus made the ballet even more ethereal and elegant. Imagine it - Marie Taglioni in that iconic white tutu, dancing gracefully and defying gravity, revolutionising ballet for good! What a trailblazer!

The tulle tutu changed the perception of female beauty in the 1840s. It represented freedom, flight, and feminine power, a sharp contrast to the heavy ball gowns of previous eras. And even now, centuries later, it evokes the same awe-inspiring feeling! I've worn my tutus all over the world, and the response is consistently wonderful! People are enchanted, fascinated, and some are even a little bit inspired. It's truly remarkable how something as simple as a skirt can evoke so much wonder and joy.

Travel by Train and Horse:

It's a funny thing, this fascination with traveling by train and by horse. Iā€™ve always felt that trains represent freedom and adventure. They carry you through enchanting landscapes, while you lose yourself in the sights, smells, and sounds of your journey.

Horses, on the other hand, offer a slower, more grounded kind of connection to the world. They let you truly appreciate the beauty of nature. They're like living works of art. You might say that my journey to Vienna, from Derbyshire, England, is inspired by these beautiful forms of transportation.

I started by train. Leaving behind the familiar green hills of Derbyshire, I set off on an adventure that felt like stepping into a book, where anything was possible. As the scenery passed, my excitement grew. And once in Vienna, I have been using the famous Fiaker horse-drawn carriages to experience the city like a true Austrian!

The Pink Tutu Legacy:

Now, I must get back to the heart of what this blog is all about. Why? Youā€™ve guessed it, itā€™s to bring some pink tutu magic into the world. Itā€™s my mission to share the sheer joy and positivity that comes with wearing pink tulle tutus, not just to embrace their elegance and femininity, but to inspire the world to tap into their inner creativity. You donā€™t have to be a ballerina to wear a tutu, you donā€™t even need to wear one! Simply bring a sense of wonder to the world, celebrate your individuality, embrace your quirks. This is the spirit of the pink tutu.

So, whether you're a fellow tutu aficionado or someone just discovering the beauty of dancing with your heart, donā€™t let this life be an endless routine, a symphony of "shoulds." Live a bit. Dare to dance to a different rhythm. Be different! Donā€™t be afraid to step out of the ordinary. Let your spirit fly, my friends!

Stay tuned for next week's post! I'll be taking you on a delightful adventure through the enchanting halls of Schƶnbrunn Palace.

Until next time, my dears! Keep the pink tutu magic alive!

With all my love,

Emma x
