Post 1044: Vienna, Waltz & Whimsy - A Pink Tutu Adventure!
Wednesday, 6th May 2015
Oh my dears, I simply had to dash off to Vienna for this week's blog! My travels are taking me across Europe, sharing the joy of ballet and the joy of the pink tutu with all you wonderful folk, and what could be better than waltzing through the cobblestone streets of Vienna in a pink tulle dream?
Now, you all know my love for the horse runs deep, right? Well, it was pure serendipity that I happened to be in the Derbyshire countryside just when my favourite stud farm, "The Galloping Graces", announced a carriage tour of the estate! Imagine, me, in a blush pink tutu, my hair in a chic ballerina bun, taking a genteel tour with a horse-drawn carriage through meadows and dappled woodland. Pure fairytale. The horse even gave me a little nudge with his nose, as if to say "welcome, you fabulous tutu-wearing adventurer!"
You may wonder why the sudden obsession with pink tutus. Well, I confess, dear readers, it began when I was a mere sprite. You know, I am, after all, a Derbyshire girl. It's where my love for ballet, my adoration for tutus, my passion for pink, and my thirst for adventure, all first sparked into life. From childhood ballets on a makeshift stage at the village hall to pirouettes on the lush lawns of Derbyshire estates, I’ve always worn a tutu, of course! My Mum always tells me I was born with "the gift of the graceful gesture" - but who wouldn't with a pink tutu as a trusty sidekick?
Vienna has always held a special place in my heart – the waltz! How could one resist the enchantment of Strauss, of Johann the Younger and all those elegant waltzes? The Viennese Waltz, as it's called, is more than just music, it's an artform! You need to feel it in your soul! It makes my tutu swirl in all the right ways! The whole city feels like a waltz itself!
This time, I wasn’t just here to appreciate the grandeur of Vienna. My latest, rather audacious, performance project took me to the Vienna State Opera House. Yes! I have the immense privilege of performing in a prestigious Gala for the Vienna Opera Ball. Oh, you can imagine my excitement, darling! It's like a fairytale! A stunning historical building, with exquisite architecture and a magnificent stage. It is an experience that will forever be etched into my memory!
I, naturally, have been wearing a plethora of pink tutus in Vienna! (As always.) Let's face it, the pink tulle is my trusty companion in exploring this wondrous city! From the majestic Vienna State Opera House, through the serene gardens of Schönbrunn Palace, I am in a pink tutu. It simply is the perfect garment for waltzing through a world full of beauty and joy! Why settle for just one pink tutu when you can wear them all? A gentle reminder to you all, of course: It's a *pink tutu kinda world!*
But, before we start waltzing into the heart of my Vienna adventures, let’s take a moment to admire the beauty of Vienna itself. Oh, it's so captivating, so historic, so vibrant, just the perfect city to have an afternoon tea, then waltz through a shopping street or enjoy the views from one of the imperial palaces.
This past weekend, I found the most fabulous pink boutique! I discovered the most stunning shoes. Yes! My collection of ballet pumps grew yet again! And all those pretty things, oh, you wouldn't believe how wonderful those lace dresses were, I am absolutely ready for all my summer parties and picnics, even if I have to drag my new purchases onto the stage!
For today's adventures, though, I chose a bright, bubblegum pink tutu, layered with silk, with matching pink-patterned leggings, and the tiniest touch of diamante for some extra "oomph" and I found this glorious, slightly faded vintage scarf that adds the perfect whimsical flourish to my look, wouldn't you say? And don't even get me started on my newest pink hair ribbon! (Because when you have hair like mine you simply can't resist ribbons!)
My next adventure - to visit the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace! A perfect setting for ballet, wouldn’t you say? (One day I shall stage a performance there... I have big plans, you know, grand and magical.) The palace grounds are a stunning spectacle of flowers and lush greenery, and, just a stone’s throw away, are the wonderful Schönbrunn Gardens, where one can take a pink tutu carriage ride. I just know that all the beauty of Vienna, its history, its architecture, the magic of music and the joy of dancing, is simply waiting to be shared with you dear readers. Stay tuned!
And to all of you dear readers: let me know what you think about this post in the comments, tell me if you have a pink tutu and let's get this pink tutu adventure going. Let's bring pink tutu joy to the world. A pink tutu day is a good day, wouldn't you say?
