Pink Tutu Vienna: Post 1058 - A Whirlwind of Pink in the City of Waltz!

Hello my darling tutu-loving friends! This is Emma, signing in from Vienna, Austria, and oh my goodness, the excitement! I'm so happy to be writing from this city of waltz, music, and stunning architecture - a place that truly captures the essence of romance!

As you know, Wednesday is my favourite day of the week. That's because it's Pink Tutu Vienna day, my weekly travel blog, where I share all the pink-tastic, tutu-licious, and altogether fabulous experiences I've had during the week.

This week has been a whirlwind! Let's take a peek into the fabulous, twirling world of Pink Tutu Vienna.

A Journey of Romance - Arriving in Vienna

I arrived in Vienna earlier this week by train. The journey itself was a ballet of its own. The picturesque countryside flashed past my window - a blur of emerald fields, quaint villages, and towering mountains, painted by a golden sun.

I felt like a princess arriving at her castle, except instead of a glass carriage, it was a sleek, high-speed train! I can’t get over how easy and convenient train travel is in Europe - you get to soak up the sights, relax and enjoy the journey. It’s almost a shame to get off the train, really!

Ballet & History – A Twirling Duo

The first order of business in Vienna was, of course, ballet! I couldn't wait to explore the famous Vienna State Opera. The building itself is breathtaking – a masterpiece of baroque grandeur. The interiors are adorned with opulent velvet, glittering chandeliers, and statues of legendary dancers – it truly is a palace of the arts!

And what’s more fitting for a city famous for its waltzes than a show showcasing the beautiful, graceful, and timeless ballet repertoire of Vienna? The performance of Giselle was absolutely mesmerising! The choreography was as delicate as a butterfly's wings, the music filled the grand space with a dreamy magic, and the dancers – oh, the dancers! They were so elegant, precise, and expressive – it left me completely spellbound!

The following day, I headed straight to the Vienna Ballet Opera House Museum. It’s like a glimpse into the heart of ballet history, filled with old costumes, sketches, posters, and even stage sets. It really brings home the history of the art form, how it has evolved, and how it continues to enthral and inspire.

And of course, no visit to the museum was complete without a visit to the costume room. Seeing the costumes up close, even just in a display cabinet, is such a thrill. Each delicate, hand-stitched tutu and exquisitely crafted costume was a tiny work of art in itself! It felt like a trip back in time to witness the evolution of the tutu! From the classic Romanticism style with its light, ethereal layers to the more dramatic, neo-classical, form-fitting designs, the tutu has truly transformed alongside the dance world itself.

The City of Waltz and My Tutu-Inspired Style

The city of Vienna has a captivating charm that reflects a truly timeless elegance. It's evident in the architecture, the fashion, and the atmosphere itself. The buildings are beautifully restored, the streets are charmingly cobbled, and the cafes are brimming with an old-world charm. Everywhere you look, you see delicate lace, ornate detailing, and subtle hues of pink and blush that echo the essence of Viennese elegance. And of course, no trip to Vienna is complete without a glimpse into the fashion scene!

For my first foray into Viennese fashion, I opted for a delightful little pastel pink ensemble – a vintage lace blouse and a chic knee-length skirt, accented by a pretty floral hat. But of course, no outfit of mine is complete without my favourite accessory – my pink tutu!

I may be travelling to glamorous Vienna, but I wouldn’t be a Pink Tutu girl if I left my tulle at home! The perfect touch for a Vienna ballet-themed outfit is, of course, a pink tutu. Whether it’s a frothy, full, and whimsical one, or a simple, elegant knee-length skirt tutu in a dusty pink or ballet slipper pink hue, a tulle-adorned look is never out of place!

As for shopping, Vienna is a dream for any fashion lover. I fell in love with a cute boutique called ‘Flora’s Frills’ in the old city center, bursting with pretty, feminine clothes and vintage lace, and oh, so many pink dresses and accessories!

Speaking of pink, did I mention how much I love all the beautiful flowers that are blossoming everywhere? I spotted hydrangeas in gorgeous shades of pink and purple, a gorgeous field of poppy blossoms, and even a couple of blush-pink rose bushes bursting with flowers in my hotel garden. It was all so very enchanting, like a painting come to life.

Dinner and Dancing

For my last evening in Vienna, I dined at one of the city's famous traditional restaurants. The interior was ornate, the service was impeccable, and the food was a feast for the senses. The highlight of the evening was definitely the Viennese schnitzel – oh, it was delicious! I can definitely recommend a Viennese schnitzel to anyone visiting, as it was like biting into a fluffy, delicious cloud of culinary delight!

But it’s the waltz that really steals the show in Vienna. The enchanting music fills every corner, making you feel as if you’re dancing through a timeless fairytale. It's impossible not to be swept away by the magic! I tried to pick up some waltz steps from some locals – it looked so easy, but believe me, it was a lot harder than it looked!

Vienna, my dearest pink tutu-loving friends, has been a beautiful ballet in itself. From the enchanting dance performances to the stunning architecture, every step in this city has been a whirlwind of romance, history, and exquisite elegance.

As I write this, the warm glow of the Vienna sunset is painting the sky in a rosy pink hue. I just had to have one more last twirl on the rooftop terrace of my hotel, with a beautiful pink view as my backdrop! The air is crisp and sweet, a perfect evening in a perfect city. The sounds of a distant violin fill the air with a waltz, inviting me to move along with the city’s enchanting rhythm.

If you’re ever searching for the perfect blend of elegant culture and dreamy fairytale, then I highly recommend adding Vienna to your itinerary. But do make sure to bring your dancing shoes and, of course, your very best pink tutu – because a girl never goes wrong with a dash of tulle wherever she goes.

And my lovelies, I do have a very special surprise for all of you! If you visit my Pink Tutu website, www.pink-tutu.com, you’ll find a beautiful little slideshow filled with my favourite photos from my Vienna adventures, including a few of my twirling around in the pink-tinted Viennese sky!

Until next Wednesday,
Stay pink, stay twirling, and stay fabulous, Emma x
