Vienna Waltz in Pink Tutu - Post #1109

Wednesday, 3rd August 2016

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back from the most enchanting trip to Vienna, and trust me, my pink tutu made quite the splash! This week's post is all about the graceful city of Vienna, its dazzling dance scene, and of course, the fabulously fashionable outfits that make my heart skip a beat.

You know how much I love a good train journey, and this one was no different. It was like stepping back in time, with luxurious velvet seats, the clickety-clack of the wheels against the tracks, and stunning countryside whizzing past my window. I couldn't help but imagine the grandeur of a bygone era, with elegant ladies and gentlemen travelling in style, perhaps with a fancy dress ball as their destination! My imagination certainly went into overdrive during that journey!

Vienna itself is a true architectural masterpiece. From the grand baroque palaces like the Schönbrunn Palace to the quirky, colourful houses lining the narrow streets of the Old Town, it's a city that whispers of history and charm.

I stayed in the heart of Vienna, just a stone's throw from the Vienna State Opera House, which, you'll not be surprised to learn, I visited on my first day. The opulent exterior of the building is a sight to behold, but stepping inside is like entering a whole other world. The grand staircase, the gold leaf ornamentation, the velvet seats - every detail was pure glamour. It was the perfect setting to watch the most incredible ballet performance, a truly unforgettable experience!

After the performance, I felt utterly inspired! My passion for ballet was alight and I couldn't resist popping into the Opera House’s gift shop to purchase a book on the history of dance. A truly precious find for my burgeoning tutu library!

Now, Vienna isn't just about the classics. It's got a vibrant, edgy street scene, and I spent the afternoon exploring the independent shops and boutiques in the Naschmarkt, Vienna's lively street food market. There I found a beautiful blush-pink scarf, and a couple of pretty little ballerina-themed trinkets for my friends back home!

But my favourite discovery of the day? A delightful vintage shop crammed with treasures, and nestled amongst the piles of petticoats and silk scarves was - you guessed it - a pink tutu! Not just any tutu, mind you, a real showstopper. It had the most exquisite lace details and was finished with a delicate pink feather boa. Oh, it was magnificent! I'm afraid my shopping bags became quite heavy that day!

I know what you're thinking. Did I actually wear this stunning tutu in Vienna? Well, darling, of course! I wouldn't have missed the opportunity to dance around in a tutu in such a stunning city.

As evening descended upon Vienna, the city lights shimmered and danced, and the air was filled with the music of Viennese waltz. I strolled along the streets in my pink tutu, enjoying the magical atmosphere and feeling utterly radiant.

Of course, no visit to Vienna is complete without indulging in the delicious cuisine. My taste buds went into overdrive with every mouthful of Wiener Schnitzel and Apfelstrudel! And who could resist a cheeky slice of Sachertorte after dinner, paired with a strong cup of Austrian coffee? It's certainly a treat for both the eyes and the soul!

On my last day, I treated myself to a private carriage ride. What better way to end a wonderful journey than in a graceful, horse-drawn carriage, me, in my pink tutu, gliding through the streets of Vienna! It truly felt like a fairytale ending.

And that, my lovelies, is my Vienna waltz! I’m leaving a little bit of my heart in this city, and already dreaming of my next adventure. So keep checking in every Wednesday for my new travel stories!

Until then, remember… always be a little bit extra, and never shy away from rocking that pink tutu!

XOXO,

Emma
