Pink Tutu Vienna - #1154: A Whirlwind Waltz in the City of Music!

Hello my darlings! It’s Wednesday again, which means another installment of my Vienna adventures on www.pink-tutu.com! This week I’m bringing you all the glitz, glam, and girly delights of a weekend in the city of music – and let me tell you, it’s been a total dream.

Imagine this: cobblestone streets lined with pastel-coloured buildings, the air filled with the melodies of street musicians, and a gorgeous view of the iconic St. Stephen's Cathedral towering above it all. That's Vienna for you, a city that takes you back in time with its elegant charm and vibrant culture. But let me be honest, darling, the true magic of Vienna starts the moment you arrive at the train station, right?

I know I said it before, but I simply adore train travel. There's something truly special about watching the countryside whizz by from a window, and it gives me a chance to get all my thoughts and inspirations organised for my upcoming ballet performance - my only source of income for these lavish travels, darling. And for you see, I believe there’s a very real link between the history of ballet and train travel. Why else would so many fabulous ballet dancers take to the stage in train-style dresses or outfits incorporating elements of railway engineering? Let’s not forget about the beautiful Victorian and Edwardian ballgowns. Now, that’s a train worth taking!

This week I had the privilege of traveling to Vienna on one of the most magnificent trains I’ve ever seen, The Vienna Night Express - oh, the carriages were beyond gorgeous, all adorned in lavish gold and burgundy accents, much like the gowns from a grand ball, don’t you think? The views, I must say, were simply breathtaking, rolling hills and quaint villages flashed past, making me feel like I was gliding through a beautiful dream. Of course, a comfy seat and a nice cuppa are a must when travelling, but it was also wonderful to catch up on a little ballet history, with my new ballet companion, a charming, bespectacled gentleman by the name of Professor Gustav, a renowned expert in ballet. I simply had to have a little pink tutu fashion moment for him in the train carriage and it turned out he was also a massive tutu-lover - it was lovely!

The beauty of Vienna just gets better the deeper you dive into its essence, which is what I was doing the following day. Vienna has a wonderful sense of history and beauty that you can truly soak up just by strolling around, exploring the city's grand architecture, charming shops, and enchanting cafes. It was such a beautiful and uplifting feeling just to be surrounded by all that beauty!

It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Vienna post without a visit to the opera, would it? And boy, did I see a show! The Wiener Staatsoper is an absolute gem. Its magnificent facade and grand interiors will have you gasping in admiration before the show even starts! The highlight was definitely “La Bohème” – the passion and emotion on stage was so palpable, the dancing so graceful and eloquent. It had me tearing up in all the right ways!

My evenings in Vienna, however, have been less about classical music and more about contemporary style and trend-setting. This lovely city is teeming with so many talented dancers and they have the most gorgeous ballet boutiques too!

Now, it's time to delve into the shopping side of this enchanting city! For someone with a passion for all things pink and frilly, Vienna is a real treasure trove! This weekend I simply couldn't resist an adorable baby pink tulle skirt at a chic little boutique on the Mariahilfer Strasse – perfect for a picnic by the Danube, darling. I couldn't let go of the sheer elegance and romantic air it brought out in my otherwise already perfectly pink outfit.

Speaking of outfits, you know how much I adore a beautiful vintage frock and Vienna, being an embodiment of vintage charm and elegance, has plenty of boutiques filled with vintage beauties. Imagine flowing skirts, intricate embroidery, and colours that would make a Parisian boutique envious – that's vintage Vienna style! And my dear, these exquisite dresses go so perfectly well with a pink tutu, right? It's almost a crime not to make this delightful combination a daily outfit!

Oh, my darlings! As the days got shorter and the streetlights lit up Vienna, painting the city in a warm, golden hue, I realised how truly enchanting this city is. It's no wonder Vienna's charm has enchanted musicians and artists for centuries. Every corner, every cafe, and every park holds its own unique beauty. Even the way the streets sparkle under the glow of the lampposts reminded me of a grand stage adorned with twinkle lights.

One thing is for sure, dear readers, this lovely city is now definitely one of my most favourite places. It’s so dreamy, charming, and perfectly suited to my Pink Tutu world!

Until next time my darlings, make sure you're embracing all the pretty things in life!

XOXO

Emma
