Vienna, Darling! My Pink Tutu Travels to the Land of Waltz and Whimsy (Post #1165)

Wednesday, 30th August 2017

Oh, my dears! Vienna! The city of music, of waltzing, of beautiful architecture, of incredible cakes, of pink tutus, of course! I arrived yesterday, the train journey was utterly divine - such splendid views! I managed to fit in a quick ballet practice session on the carriage, squeezing in a few graceful leaps whilst enjoying the scenery whizzing past. There's nothing quite like feeling the rhythm of the wheels, the wind in your hair, and the twirl of a tutu!

And now, I'm here, amidst the charm and the magic of Vienna, feeling like I've stepped straight into a ballet set. Every corner holds a new wonder, every building a grand facade. The streets are alive with music, the air filled with the scent of fresh bread and coffee - it's intoxicating!

Speaking of intoxicating, how absolutely divine is this hotel? I've fallen head over heels for it! Every room is decorated in soft, feminine colours, with delicate details and frills - pure ballet inspiration. They even have a beautiful garden with a tiny stage where I just HAD to do a little impromptu waltz with the hotel's gardener! It was the most magical interlude - just him in his apron and me in my tutu, spinning around amidst the fragrant roses and lilies.

This afternoon, I ventured into the city, to the centrepiece, the glorious Hofburg Palace! Oh my, it's everything I ever imagined. I felt like a princess (though slightly less formally attired than a real princess, haha!), wandering the halls, peeking into courtyards, marvelling at the grand staircases and tapestries. They even have a museum dedicated to ballet costumes! I nearly squealed with delight! And the displays are breathtaking - tutus from every era, sequins shimmering like stars, feathers flowing like angels' wings, history swirling before my eyes.

As for today, well, today was all about SHOPPING! My love, the shops here! I discovered a treasure trove of exquisite boutiques overflowing with exquisite fabrics, shimmering beads, and beautiful silks - everything a pink tutu-loving soul could dream of. I found the most delightful little dress shop, with the most stunning lace, perfectly suited for creating my own tutu dream. The shopkeeper was a lovely lady, with the sweetest smile and a true appreciation for the art of tutu. We spoke for hours, talking about everything from the history of the tutu to the art of fabric design. She even promised to introduce me to a local seamstress, so I can finally have that perfect, customised tutu made, designed specifically to compliment Vienna's elegance.

This evening, I'll be attending a performance at the Vienna State Opera House! Imagine, darling! I’m wearing my most beautiful blush-pink tutu, of course, complete with a touch of Vienna’s elegance with a gorgeous little ivory rose corsage. It's all a bit like a fairy tale. It seems every night is filled with beauty, magic, and grace, and I'm simply caught up in the whirlwind of it all.

Now, my dears, if you'll excuse me, I must dash! A symphony is calling my name!

Oh, and I almost forgot to share, the best bit? While wandering around Vienna, I found a street performance by a ballet company. It was completely spontaneous, a little pocket of beauty and grace in the heart of the city! The dancers were superb - all those leaps, those graceful turns, the emotion poured into their every movement. And guess what? The leading dancer wore a magnificent pink tutu! I nearly cried. It's like my life's mission is coming to fruition!

You've simply GOT to see it! It's a reminder, my loves, that ballet and beauty can be found in every corner, in every city. Even in a place as grand and luxurious as Vienna. It’s a lesson I will forever cherish. And a reminder to always keep a tutu handy, darling! You never know when you might be caught in a moment that calls for twirling!

Until next week, when I'll share more adventures from my Viennese escapades!

Yours in pink,

Emma xoxo
