Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #1329 - Whirlwind Waltz in Vienna!
Wednesday 21st October 2020
Guten Tag, darlings!
The air crackles with the scent of autumn leaves and freshly baked pastries, and Vienna is painting itself in a palette of amber and crimson. The perfect setting, donāt you think? This city, with its majestic palaces and charming coffee houses, is simply a dream! My heart is aflutter ā this week, Vienna is my playground!
Now, I'm not going to lie, my journey here was a little moreā¦ unconventional. Leaving the familiar lanes of Derbyshire, I traded my usual vintage sports car for a spirited steed ā yes, a horse! Picture me, riding through the countryside, pink tutu billowing behind me like a joyous pink cloud. It wasnāt just any ordinary ride either; it was an epic, exhilarating horseback trek through rolling hills and sprawling meadows. Let's just say, I arrived in Vienna with a spring in my step ā and a slight crick in my neck from gazing at the breathtaking views!
I think we all know I just adore the glamour and elegance of train travel. But, sometimes a little bit of old-fashioned charm just does the trick!
My dear, I havenāt even begun to share my Viennese escapades yet! My ballet shoes are barely unpacked, and Iām already on the hunt for the most fabulous Viennese boutiques.
Oh, my darlings, Viennaās fashion scene is like a glittering jewel box overflowing with vintage elegance and modern trends. Iāve already snagged a divine pink satin shawl that simply cries out āVienna!ā, a silk blouse with a hint of bohemian charm, and a pair of cherry-red ballet flats to complete the look. And you know me, a pink tutu is an absolute essential!
Tonight, Iām indulging in the divine delight of a performance by the Vienna State Opera. A perfect night for a bit of operatic splendour, wouldnāt you agree? The atmosphere of a grand opera house is utterly intoxicating ā I can practically hear the strains of waltz music already! Iāll be sure to tell you all about the production tomorrow.
Speaking of waltzes, did you know that Vienna is practically the birthplace of the waltz? And, dare I say, thatās no accident. Viennaās cultural influence extends to so many aspects, and ballet is certainly no exception. I can practically feel the flourishing ballet culture tingling in the air ā thereās something incredibly captivating about watching ballerinas grace the stage under these regal chandeliers.
In fact, you might be surprised to know that Vienna boasts a fantastic collection of tutus ā not just on the dancers, mind you ā but on display at the Vienna Hofburg Museum. Imagine stepping back in time, walking amidst a veritable tapestry of pink silk, delicate lace, and glittering gemstones. Truly a delightful vision to behold.
Did you know that tutus can actually tell a whole story? A grand, sweeping tutu could signify the romantic era, whereas a tutu with more geometric, modern lines speaks to a more avant-garde, contemporary style. And thereās a fascinating history behind the materials, too. Oh my dears, I simply could gush about it for hours!
But before I wander off into my own dreamy ballet world, I simply must say this - Vienna, with your architectural wonders, your melodious waltzes, and your enchanting boutiques, I am hopelessly smitten with you.
Oh, my love for Viennaā¦it is truly a feeling I can barely describe. Every cobblestone, every cafĆ©, every turn down a narrow alleyway has something special about it. And who knows, perhaps in this city of wonders, my ultimate ambition - to make everyone embrace the wonder of a pink tutu ā might even come true!
Until next Wednesday, darling friends, keep spinning!
