Guten Tag, my dearest tutu-lovers! 🩰 It's Emma here, back from my whirl-wind trip through the Austrian capital, Vienna! I've had an absolutely magical time exploring its enchanting streets, discovering its rich history, and most importantly… embracing my inner ballerina in a sea of pink tutus! 💖
As always, you know my Wednesday posts are a special occasion, a little peek into my pink-hued world. So grab a cuppa (or a glass of Austrian sparkling wine!), settle in, and let's delve into this week's adventures!
A Pink Tutu Journey Begins:
Vienna, the city of waltzes and palaces, called to me this time. It was an irresistible call to discover the birthplace of the waltz, to dance among the cobblestone streets and immerse myself in its elegant spirit.
As you know, travelling by train is my preferred method – there’s something so romantic and peaceful about watching the countryside whiz by. This journey was no exception!
After a smooth journey, I arrived at Vienna Hauptbahnhof (Vienna Central Station), a beautiful structure that reminded me of a fairy tale palace! The air was crisp, the buildings grand, and I already knew I was going to adore this city!
Vienna's Ballet Tapestry:
My love affair with Vienna began with the exquisite Vienna State Opera. Now, opera lovers will know the history, the sheer beauty and magnitude of the performance here, the incredible talent…but let’s be real, I'm a ballerina at heart, so I was even more enchanted by their ballet productions.
I saw a mesmerising performance of "Swan Lake." The costumes were a vision – billowing white tutus with delicate feathers and flowing gowns. They reminded me of a majestic white swan in flight!
Seeing these stunning dancers twirl and leap across the stage in those beautiful tutus, inspired me like never before! The energy, the precision, the absolute dedication, I felt truly transported to another world. Of course, my camera clicked incessantly capturing every magical moment!
Later that week, I went to a special performance at the Burgtheater. This prestigious theatre, with its impressive history and grandeur, hosted "Sleeping Beauty" – a whimsical ballet full of enchanting characters. The elaborate sets and costuming transported me to a magical fairy tale!
The beauty of the performances in Vienna was even more accentuated by the ornate interiors of the theatre! Gilt embellishments, plush velvet seats, sparkling chandeliers… it was an explosion of sensory delight! I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures to capture the opulence of it all.
Fashion in Vienna, my own tutu story!
Every time I travel, shopping is a must, it’s almost a ritual! This time I went to Vienna’s fashion hub – the Mariahilfer Strasse. This bustling shopping street offered endless options for fashion and style. And for me, this meant finding some new tutus for my wardrobe!
I discovered some breathtaking tutu designs. My favourite was this pink feather tutu with a delicate swirl of soft lilac feathers. I was speechless. It was elegant, dramatic, and made me feel like a princess ballerina straight out of a fairytale. And guess what? It looks incredible in photos!
Of course, I indulged in a little "vintage fashion therapy" at the Naschmarkt. This market is a haven for antiques, clothing, and accessories. I managed to find an enchanting vintage dress from the 1950s. The floral print, the delicate fabric…it’s absolutely perfect for a vintage-themed ballerina photo shoot!
A Waltz Through History:
Vienna, with its charming streets and majestic architecture, is like stepping into a historical movie set! From the sprawling Schönbrunn Palace (imagine the beautiful balls held there) to the intricate Hofburg Palace, it's impossible to walk past without capturing it all on camera.
Don’t forget to visit the Belvedere Palace for an awe-inspiring art experience. Its Klimt Collection is simply stunning. If you're like me, you’ll adore seeing those masterpieces!
For my adventurous side, there is Vienna's Schönbrunn Zoo. This iconic zoo is not just a collection of animals; it’s a testament to wildlife conservation. The enchanting setting of Schönbrunn, the palace itself… the beauty here is astounding.
Horses & Tutu Dreams:
Who could visit Vienna and not experience its iconic Lipizzaner stallions at the Spanish Riding School? This magnificent establishment boasts a centuries-old tradition, combining elegance and skill! I was lucky to catch their incredible show; the horses were mesmerizing, a beautiful ballet of power and grace! Seeing these graceful horses dance, reminded me of how connected I am to dance and my tutu!
One more little indulgence… riding! Vienna offers many opportunities to indulge in this royal experience! It’s perfect for combining nature with my ballet-inspired outfits.
My Tutu Verdict on Vienna:
I left Vienna feeling inspired and charmed. It's a city that made me feel like a princess ballerina – every twist and turn, every sight, every ballet performance was a masterpiece!
Oh, and did I mention my mission? It seems my pink tutu message is spreading far and wide! In the city’s charming parks, I noticed a handful of people who were wearing pink tutus themselves!
My fellow ballerina lovers, I believe we're slowly making a pink tutu revolution happen, and it’s all thanks to you.
